It was really annoying, they didn't want me to present anything, the proceeded to talk about my intentions without talking to me. Kind of like being ignored, it should be fine as I spent a lot of time with the Planning Board and they are the ones that made the recommendation to the Town Council, next month I have the public hearing, I will be presenting at that one.

Thanks Hub, the game collection makes me smile when I see the cartridges. I guess that means I really need to setup a small display.

They would sure look good under one of the burbs, unfortunately I am not that interested in build the burbs for that use. They will look really good under a 1970s F700 crewcab truck!

The axles are here, now I need to unload them, probably stuck them on the back of the crane for now. They are going on the back burner for now, still need to dig out the truck that I am putting them under first. These axles look mighty tuff, can’t wait until they are in something.

How many burbs do you have?:headscrat

I love them, right up until I need to haul something big, then I wish I had a pickup truck. But 95% of the time, they are great and I own a trailer, so no big deal, just need to plan in advance.

So what have I done at the shop over the last week you ask. Nothing, nothing at all. I was there for a bit on Monday and that was all. Today is Sunday and I am trying to extricate myself from the house to get to the shop, hopefully it will work, I have plenty to get done.

Failure.

Got sidetracked and then the day was over. Unfortunately I don't feel like I got anything done, I take that back, I didn't get anything done. I need to understand why I am so out of it, I can't say that it is a depressed feeling, but it is presenting itself that way. I need to commit myself to moving forward, lately I haven't done that and in the end it is moving me backwards. I think a lot of it revolves around my circumstances and work load, seems like I am working harder to not get things done. I know that I can do it, so that is why it is so confusing. While I am in the midst of the mess, I forget everything that needs to be done and find other things to do that have no importance whatsoever. I am feeling my potential slip away and I don't like it.

Do you have an easy project that's in the way? For me, when I struggle with the chaos that is my stuff, I've found that if I can find something small that I've wanted to get out of the way and knock it out it helps. Running the dozer or excavator is like taking an eraser to depression over the progress of the shop.

If I were to dwell on what I haven't accomplished, I'd never get out of bed. All I can do is deal with this moment -- two more threads to visit and I'm going to the workshop.

I definitely feels like I am on my own, today was nice, Don Powers stopped by and we shot the **** for over an hour. Today was more productive, but not for the shop, I got a bunch figured out for the tower. Tomorrow we have a meeting to go over what needs to be done, I think everyone has become scattered and the project is not flowing properly, hopefully they can see that and we can get things back on track.

I hear you S. I usually get that way when I'm pulled in too many directions, have WAY too much on my plate, or the shop's a disaster, like now. The only way I know to get out of it is to pick a corner and start cleaning. Right now I have 5 cars, the tractor, rototiller, and the mower that all need repairs. I need to finish the garden gate, garden fencing, duck yard fencing, duck pool, the driveway, and the the duck house........ and on the list goes. I was feeling down, so last night I said screw it, picked a corner and started cleaning. Car show tonight and show Friday night, but tomorrow night and the weekend are all about cleaning the barn. I don't know if that will work for you or not. Good luck. Oh, and I can't see any of your pics, nor Platonics, nor a couple of other guys, and I am using chrome.

Thanks for the push. Just starting something will work for me, but finishing something is usually where I get the best motivation. I need to pick some small projects and just do one of them start to finish.

As for the pics, no ideas, they are hosted through tapatalk, so it could be an issue with them. May need to do some research.

Cleaning it is, will do some ASAP, I need to start somewhere so it is worth a shot.

I am torn right now, I need a butcher block top for my office, but I can’t find one local, of course I could use the one that I just finished, but that would mean cutting it. I really don’t want to do that as it fits perfectly in the place that I want for my RC work area. I have been all over Craigslist and there are several that will work for me, but none have phone numbers, and none have responded to emails. I hate that. If you aren’t going to check your email, you should just leave a phone number, if you don’t want to get a phone call, well, you probably should list anything for sale. In most case I am not looking to buy something a couple weeks from now when they decide to respond to the email I sent. Rant over.

Strouty I don’t know if you have a Lumber Liquidators or similar store near you but many times they will have damaged (ie. corner or surface dings) butcher block counter tops at pretty good prices. Might be a source to check. I have bought a few for bench tops.

All the ones within 100 miles of me are on backorder. They had several delivered on Sunday, but all were spoken for. I really need a 30" wide one, but I can make due with the 25" ones.

They do have oak and cherry, but I am trying to keep a lighter surface.

They seem to be quite expensive and the quality on most is not great, that is why I was trying to source them local. I actually will end up needing several and I may have found the most economical solution so far. No clue what the wood is, but they seem rugged.

Since there will be a few in each area, it makes sense to try and match them up so it looks as uniform as possible.

Discount Hardwoods ?? a flooring place just across from TSC in Scarborough (on the marsh) has butcher tops in std. counter widths I think up to 8' long.

edit; oops, posted before I read all the way through.
My daughter got some from Ikea, I think that means a trip to MA.

IKEA was an option, the discount hardwoods is lumber liquidators, they have one 12' top, but when I cut it to fit, I end up with an odd length that won't help me. They only had darker woods in the 8' length.

I had not seen the bowling alley floor, will have to see if I can find it.

After doing my research, the bowling alley is not the way to go. Had they been local and I could check them out first, I might consider it, but from my research, you could end up with pine mixed in with the hardwood. They also are full of nails and cutting them can be a pain, then finishing the edges can also be troublesome depending on how random the nail pattern is.

Lumber liquidators is about two weeks out for delivery, so I may be back to the sam's club benches and just cut as needed. Home depot has birch tops for a decent price, but they are also order only, will check in on the lead times.

You couldn't find any local hardwood yards? We have a local place that makes them they are more of a hardwood supplier for local woodworkers.

Spent my epay bucks today.

No whining, you waz warned.

I used my last ones the day they came out, I learned my lesson.

There is no one around here that will make what I want for a reasonable amount of money. I found birch ones through Home Depot that were really well priced, been looking for light wood, so they will work great. Will be ordering them tomorrow after I take measurements. The best part is that I now get to clean out my Dad's wood shop and use that as the hub for cutting and assembling the ones for the office. I am glad to do this as it won't tie up my shop!

I did make it to the shop today, for 20 minutes. Felt stupid to spend over an hour round trip to get 20 minutes of shop time in. It was all worth it when I got to do this though.

Thanks guys!

I just mounted a 2x4 to the wall for now, will be making some sort of framework for it so if I move things later, it is not dependent on a wall for support. Just seeing it in place made me feel a lot better though.

I would not worry about additional independent support for now. It just adds another project that you may never need. Deal with it at that time, otherwise, you are just adding more to the already cascading project pile. Keep things moving, even if it is only one chore per day, and do not deviate. (Mule blinders) You will see things get better for you if you do this. Nothing else exists except the current previously assigned goal of the day. Make this your mantra.

I have had to learn to do this over the years relative to myself. If I deviated and allowed myself to look at other things than the daily goal, I would be buried in details and become frustrated. If you ever walk into the shop and feel lost, clean and haul off trash. It is therapeutic.
