I low balled them, I don’t need it and they openly admitted it had been listed for sale now for over a year. Would I like to own it? Of course! Do I need it? Not at all. ;)

My cousin owes me some trucking and said he would go with me to get it, so that cuts down on costs quickly.

While I am sure this is not as accurate as some thermometers, you get the idea.

It does sometimes. Still 95 or so now. I was hopeful to get a few outside things done, but I don’t want to melt. I guess early tomorrow morning for me.

The front just came through here and it's about 78 now. You will probably see it tomorrow sometime.

my thermometer hit 102 briefly, but I think it was more like 98, either way the heat index made it feel much worse.

Headed to the shop now, I hate to make noise early, but I need to get the trailer unloaded before I leave to pickup the Yukon. I think I can make it so that I only use the truck for about 20 minutes total and I can have that be at about 8 AM, at least I am trying.

Last night we setup a couple portable AC units at the house, it was 90 inside and that was with the ceiling fans. It is substantially cooler now, but still not cool enough yet.

90* in the house? I like it in the upper sixties in order for me to sleep just decent. 50's is the best. Good luck on the road trip.

Yes, 90 inside, at least upstairs, downstairs was a bit cooler.

So much for an early start to beat the heat. It is already over 80 and humid too. Oh well, just going to be a hot sticky day.

100F :shocking: That's almost 40C. My thermometer doesn't have enough numbers for that:lol:
It's the hottest time of summer here and it tops only 25C (77F). That's enough for me. Except for sauna 200F is just perfect:thumbup:

Hang in there, a lots of cold drink and salty food:beer:

T-handle, 25 C sounds awesome to me, unfortunately it was just about as hot today as yesterday, I didn't have a thermometer in the truck I took, but my weather app for the local area said it was 95, humidity felt worse. Although yesterday I wasn't working as hard, so it is hard to tell for sure, looking forward to this cold front moving in.

Just unloaded the Yukon, still need to unload the parts, plow and rear end, taking a break in the shop, soaking up some AC. Looks like I may be able to park the truck in the shade to finish the unloading, still really hot, unless the sun goes behind a cloud, then it feels bearable. I ordered one of those goofy hats with the rear cape that protects your neck, actually looking forward to trying it out. Also ordered a military issue boon style hat, my ears have been getting burned and after having my forehead modified due to some skin cancer, I would prefer to keep my ears.

Overall it was a good day, the kids mother, aunt, girlfriend, and two lazy MOFO friends were there. The GF used her phone to record the action, the mother helped load pieces and parts and the two lazy MOFO friends helped keep the grass from growing wherever they stood. I love being on video while sweat is rolling down my face so bad that I can't see half the time because my eyes are stinging.

It is a pleasant 56 degrees by the players bench here at the rink, a comfortable 66 here in the office with my computer.
We have 98 outside @4:30.

Got everything unloaded, looks like my help left the come along handles sitting somewhere on the truck or trailer, they are now long gone. I guess that is the cost of doing business these days.

So what are the plans for the Yukon? It sure would look better sitting in Florida next to my Tahoe. [emoji23]

Parts only, total rust bucket. It has a GEP/Navistar engine in it (as far as I can tell) and there is a larger turbo, supposedly it has a special chip/tune, but I can't confirm that. The interior is the gem, the front seats need to be reworked, but the truck has nice leather and I love the wine color, especially with the black. I guess it will stay together for now as it is easier to keep the interior and engine under cover by using the truck as the shelter.

In searching around for a Yukon, I have found way too many things that make me want to kick start my project. At this point it looks like all my future trucks will have the Yukon Denali/Cadillac Escalade nose from the 2000 trucks They look so nice, gives the truck a huge facelift. Anyways, I found two more trucks, one in northern Maine, one in Connecticut, I hate facebook marketplace.

Does Yukon have a tailgate or barn doors? My is barn doors but my future project for it is to have a tailgate.
Ditto on the Denali/Escalade facelift.

This one is a tailgate, I am a barn door guy, but if I found a good one with a tailgate, I would probably consider it.

I found a 2000 Denali in Maine (5 hours away), it appears to be rust free, cheap price too. The guy is going to send some more pictures to confirm it is not rusty, if it is clean, I may just get that truck and do a diesel Denali for now.

No doubt! Strouty is one busy and hard working dude.

And re lazy "helpers"! What the hell is up with that?! Recently helped my neighbor unload a load of wood and decking for his big deck project. Me, 58 yrs old, my neighbor, about 58, his dad, 70 years old! While we're sweating going back and forth, back and forth, a neighbor comes by...and watches!

What the hell? I was dying to tell him something like "Hey man! If you're going to be here pick up a f-ing joist and help us out, or leave!"

Right about the time we were almost done, he starts helping. I think he carried like 3 planks. I guess that's better then none. :lol_hitti

They used to start early back in the day.

I am convinced that a deckover tilt trailer is the way to go, will need to be 14k GVW at a minimum. This will act like a ramp truck once I install a winch, really like a gooseneck, but then it would be useless if I wanted to take the burb. I am going to start comparing specs on trailers, definitely want it to have 17.5 wheels and tires, not 16s. I think this year is going to be the year I sell a lot of things, need to get rid of things to make room for new stuff. I am planning on making a list of things to sell, could be downright painful for a hoarder like me.

The good thing is I have a general idea of what I want, I have a good portion of the pieces, I now need to start assembly. I am sure things will change as I go and that is fine with me, I just need to get to the point where I don’t have to rely on other people or their tools/equipment, it stresses me out way too much these days.

Your neighbor's dad had him when he was 12? :wtf:

Lol, oh man, I'm dying here. The numbers, they're hard for some of us.

I think my neighbor must be 48? Or a bit younger? I don't know. I thought he was my age. His dad is definitely 70! I remember that because I was thinking I wouldn't have my 70 yr old dad hustling lumber for me, my dad, RIP, did enough heavy lifting when he was a younger man.

But its not my dad, so I said nothing, although I did keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't over do it because his son didn't seem to be doing so. Which I thought was weird.

And same reason I kept my mouth shut about the "watcher not helper", not my load of lumber, not my house, not my neighbor not helper buddy.

No judgement here. I was assuming F451 meant the dad was in his 70s. I just read it and started laughing. Your teammate could be in his 50s still and be a great-grandfather. Shoot, he could be a great-great-grandfather before he passes.

One of my friends growing up lived with his grandparents and his dad, so I thought, turns out the dad was his brother and the grandparents were his parents. IIRC, his brother was more than 20 years older than he was.

I worked with a guy who we hired right after graduation. He was about 25 when he left our place. His dad was over 90. He really never knew him.

Rain has set in and it is much cooler. Been doing some errands, picked up Bev’s parts, might start on her tonight.

Still need to clean up the mess I made with all the engine parts from the Yukon.

Today was a wasted day, went to look at another truck, looked decent enough in the photos, boy was that deceiving. Needless to say, I didn't buy anything, so I guess that is good, also didn't get anything done, so that is bad. We will see what tomorrow brings.........

I don't think I need to wait any longer to know that the new bed setup still is too firm. :(
I am going to mess with the foam topper that I had, I know that was fine, but had to be doubled over. Heck it may be that if I double over the "plush" layer, it works. I just don't want to start cutting up the foam until I know what works. This mattress thing is starting to feel like a boat, you know, a hole in the water that your put money into. Anyways, this morning I feel like I was beaten by two by fours last night.

Changing the foam layers didn’t fix things, I tried one more adjustment to the layers and it seems OK, but I only got about two hours of testing it. Should know tonight.

Shop time this afternoon, need to get things cleaned up so I can get Bev in and start working on her.

Talk about throwing a wrench in things, my original 1999 suburban just popped up for sale, when I say original, I mean the one I bought new in 1999, but had to sell due to a back injury. The guy is asking too much, so that is a plus, but I think I want it, I guess it depends on how the rust is, would be cool to own it again. :)

I probably overpaid a bit, but I really wanted it back. I would not have paid as much had it just been another diesel burb. I am fine with it, they bro dozered it a bit, thing has a lift and visor. Needs a bunch of work and I am not going to restore it, just make it survive as long as I can, I am not going to let perfection get to me.

Nice!

I want my $300 '67 C20 long bed back. My college ride. 4 sp with granny first, white wagon wheels, nice exhaust rumble out of the straight 6 with its shortened exhaust. "She's only rock and roll" sticker on the back window. I wish I had some pics of it.
