Thanks guys, the original burb is a diesel, so not high horsepower. I am excited, but I have to be patient, guy may have to apply for a duplicate title, if so it will be a couple weeks before I take delivery. I have plenty to do, only a week before I am headed to get the burb chassis from Virginia, that is my concentration.

Love the visor and shoes on it. My stepside had a shelf that mounted at the top ... had to relocate the inside visors for it... if I ever got flung forward... it would have been lobotomy time. The shelf was metal. I miss that truck. 5.7... 9 MPG... improved air intake and bigger exhaust... had throat...

I may add some new tires and paint the rims, their is a leak in the fuel system, a check engine light, some rot, and the ABS system is screwed up. I am curious to figure out if it has to do with the larger tires.

OK, the bed is a complete fail, even the "plush" latex just has too much push back, it creates pressure points that make for an awful nights sleep. So now I have spent $3,500 and almost a year dealing with painful sleep. The only reprieve has been the folded over foam mattress topper that cost an additional $300, I guess I am going back to that, the whole thing is starting to make me sick just thinking about it. :(

I think I am giving up on sleep, I still had the mattress topper that worked (folded over), as soon as I tried it inside the custom cover that keeps the mattress together, no go. The cover takes away too much of the feel, I woke up just as bad as normal. I guess tonight I will try just the topper again, if all else fails, I will have to start sleeping on the couch again. Holy **** am I tired.

Holy ****, I can hardly stay awake, apparently this sleep thing is worse than I thought. I am going home so I can try and get some shut eye on the couch so I actually get some sleep.

So I decided to struggle on, managed to do almost nothing, broke a couple things, cut some other things, learned a few things. Anyways, it is clear I need some sort of air filter system that will **** up the dust and fumes, had to make a few cuts with the plasma cutter and grind some plates and the entire upper third of the shop was hazy, couldn’t clear it out even with the door opened.

Also treated me self to another piece of the world’s most expensive gum (maybe not, but I like the dramatic side), Clark’s Teaberry. No longer available, I still have 6 sticks left. I hope to get another 10 years out of it. ;)

Have you been checked for sleep apnea? Perhaps it is the issue and not the bed? Also what about the couch makes it easier to sleep? Do you watch tv while on the couch but not in bed? Just trying to help.

I have a CPAP, but the apnea is not the issue, I have wide shoulders and I tend to sleep on my side, the bed not giving is tweaking my hips and lower back and it hurts. The couch is softer and I can jam my shoulder in between two cushions to help even more. The big issue with the couch is it is just too short, so it messes with my knees after a while.

Can you cut the bed foam to be more like the couch? Ie, make sections that are higher/lower to match your shoulders/torso, and go from there? Then use multiple sheets so that you still get some movement.
Seems like if you made the lower 2/3's of the mattress out of the firm foam with a plush topper, and then use more of the soft foam for the upper 1/3, that might give you what the couch is doing.
You could cut an extra slot where your arm is, and tuck the sheet into that slot to make sure you can adjust to that position.
Nothing to lose at this point since the foam is paid for, right?

Strouty, couple of things. First, you can buy the Clarks Teaberry at Cracker Barrel. Second, try jamming a small pillow between your knees when you sleep on your side. It aligns your spine and reduces the pressure the hips put on lower spine. Hope that helps.

All I can say is my shoulders are as wide as a doorway. I also had all the sleep issues you have now. Searching for soft ... Searching for support ... sleeping only three hours ... pain in my arms, shoulders and lower back.

My solution worked for me.

I also use a CPAP. I was at a pressure of 10. I always tried to sleep on my side. Sleeping on my side eventually created joint irritation in my shoulder... I tried to sleep on my back as a solution. My snoring blew thru my cpap pressure if I slept on my back.

An RN who had sleep study experience discussed my issues with me... she suggested I speak with my doc.. to raise my pressure and force myself to sleep on my back in a seated position.

I purchased a recliner that was designed for sleeping. Layzboy.

My cpap pressure is now 18.

I now sleep 7+ hours flat on my back in a partial seated position. My chair is remote control. I find i flatten my sleep position out as the night progresses. I still stir every few hours to check my glucose implant but fall right back to sleep.

Your mileage may vary but consider what I'm saying before just dismissing it. I fought with that RN for months on this. I folded... and benefited in the end.

I also have a CPAP, and many other people on here do also, but anyway. It you are sleeping on your side, as I do, put some pillows, or at least one, under your top leg. My wife is a Physical Therapist and told me about this years ago. Putting pillows, or something, under your top leg really helps your back and other areas. Hope that helps, and good luck!

No sleep *****. Just got back from a trip and stayed at Solhaus. AC reset to 77* during the middle of the night. No sleep for 2 days. I can't imagine what you're going through.

Thanks for the input guys.

Have had a dedicated pillow for the knees for years.

I didn’t cut the foam yet, but I have folded it to get the same effect.

As far as the slot for my shoulder, the mattress cover would not allow for it, it doesn’t stretch or flex as much. In fact it is taking away some of the softness of the foam under it.

CPAP was on auto for a good month and it is now set for a range of 9 to 13. The few times it hit 18, I woke up and had to turn it off and start over, it just makes me open my mouth to let the pressure out.

Sleeping on my back is not bad, I have a dental appliance that moves my lower jaw forward to help keep my airway open.

I last night I adjusted the foam again, then put the topper on as a single layer. It seemed to work well enough, still need some tweaking.

I did stay in bed for 9.5 hours, sleeping most of it. Some of my problem is the pillow situation. On my back, I don’t need any pillow as I sink in enough, on my side I need something, but haven’t figured it out yet. Yes I have tried every style pillow out there, I currently have been using one that has compartments of shredded latex foam, it can easily be adjusted by removing or added stuffing. I also have a shredded tempurpedic pillow that allows me to very easily shift material so I can make it conform to my neck and head.

My CPAP tells me hours of use (on time) and episodes per hour. I average about 0.9 per hour. Funny part is the less that number is, the more groggy I feel, around 1.5 I feel better, no clue why that would be. Regardless that is way better than my pre CPAP of 100 per hour.

Pines, I have tried a recliner before, it didn’t agree with me, I have bad ankles from skateboarding, broken a lot, so they are super sensitive to lack of support and the recliners would let them hang funny so I would wake up with numb feet and my ankles would hurt the next day.

You used to be able to buy it there. Clark’s teaberry gum no longer exists. If you happen upon any, buy it, it is worth a fortune. You could easily get $20 for a five stick pack.

Have you looked at the pillows pregnant lady's use? The ones like a big U. Might help and they're well under $50. Whatever works, I hope you find something soon.

I have tried body pillows, u pillows, this pillow, that pillow, buckwheat pillows, cooling gel foam pillows, down pillows, even "my" pillow (worst pillow I have ever tried), I have not tried air or water filled pillows, but not really interested if they even exist.

This has been a long process for me, took me years to get comfortable, had a nice tempurpedic for almost twenty years, then one morning I woke up in pain, nothing changed, just the pain. I figured it was too soft, boy was I wrong. Anyways I have been fighting with this for over a year now. :(

I am hesitant to mention this suggestion, and you may well have already tried it, but my sleep doc recently prescribed gabapentin for my sleep issues. According to my sleep doc, my current sleep issues are less about apnea, and more about awakenings during the night. And he is right, I wake up constantly.

Besides helping with sleep issues, it can also help with pain, especially joint and nerve pain. But it can have all kinds of side effects apparently.

He has had success with gabapentin at relatively low dosages with his patients, 600 mg, once a day right before bed is my dose. I've been on it for about a month now and it is working, I'm waking up less now, most nights not waking at all.

BUT - I'm still exhausted all the time, can't function in any kind of normal way. I think I may actually be feeling worse, seem to be more dizzy then usual, more grouchy, more brain fog. I just don't feel like my normal sick. I'm not sure if its just the steady march of whatever is f-ing me up, or if its the gabapentin.

I'm going to call my dr's office today and tell them I want off and get their tapering off advice. Once off it for a few weeks I'll see how I feel.

So I thought I would throw that out there as my sleep doc says his patients have had success with it, I don't think I am though. Might be worth considering as it sounds like you've tried just about everything else up to this point.

Good luck, sounds like some of us here share the no sleep thing.

I don't drink any type of coffee, I rarely have sodas, I will take a 5 hour energy, but almost always dump it into a water bottle, so I don't get a full shot all at once. I am a sugar junky though. I am sure if I could cut sugar out completely, it would really help. My chiropractor thinks that the bed issue is actually a flexibility issue, he thinks my tendons and ligaments are tight and that makes it harder for my body to relax and conform to the bed, so I am making the bed conform to me. I had issues with my arms that was due to tightness, I am fairly convinced that part of it is mental/emotional, I have a rough past and there are some things that still haunt me, so my child part is always in fight or flight mode, meaning the muscles stay tight a lot more than most people. My calves and legs definitely stay tight most of the time. It is really hard to relax when you can't sleep, kind of like a vicious cycle that just can't be broken.

I just got to the shop a few minutes ago, need to do things that I should have had done weeks ago, stress just takes over and I get nothing done.

I sympathize on the sleep side. I have problems falling asleep, even when tired and almost always have no energy. I do take 10Mg Melatonin, but the only time I fall asleep easily is when I'm totally exhausted. My mind is always going 1,000miles an hour, so I wear earbuds with white noise on. Ever since moving from a full motion waterbed 20 years ago, at my wife's insistence, I haven't been able to be comfortable. 5 different types/brands of mattresses. Unfortunately, during the evening, I'll fall asleep almost anywhere-watching tv, at the computer, reading a book, for 15-30 minutes; get maybe 3-4 hours of sleep later at night. On weekends, after rising at 6AM to feed our disabled son, I'll go back to bed for 3 hours and fall asleep immediately and wake up feeling somewhat better. Come Monday, the cycle starts again. My doc has me trying Trazodone, and I only take 1/4 of a 25mg pill, which seems to help, but makes me slightly nauseous. Degenerated disc and shoulder bursitis certainly don't help either( I'm 67) Wish I could help. Let us know if you find a solution, hopefully soon for you!

I am happy to report that I do not feel as tired today as I have the last week or so. I think the last combination of mattress and topper is moving in the right direction. Even my GF said I don't sound the same as I have the last week, guess I sounded half assed drunk or something. I felt like that, but had no idea it was apparent to others. Tomorrow will be the big test, if I wake up and my back feels better, then I know I am going in the right direction. Fingers crossed!

Sounds like you might have an anxiety problem. When you read or watch tv, you fall asleep because your mind is occupied with something else. When it's not, anxiety takes over and you can't sleep. Been there. My doc put me on Buspirone, and it worked very well with no side effects. It's a generic drug now.

Interesting, I have the same issue sometimes, but for the most part, I hit the bed and I am out quickly. The quality of my sleep has been the main issue for me. I had to make sure that I use the bed for sleeping (and the fun stuff), we used to have a TV in there and the GF would watch TV at night while in bed, it turned the bedroom into a nightmare for me. She was not happy with me when I pulled the TV out. I then had to kick her out of the room when she started "going to bed" only to read with the light on for 30 or more minutes, I couldn't get to sleep. We now sleep in separate beds in separate rooms and both of us sleep much better. I honestly wish I had done it years ago, she is always cold, I am always hot, she wants the room to have curtains with light seeping through, I want it to be pitch black. There wasn't much we could agree on in bed, at least the sleeping part. ;)

I use **** to put mind in the right place for sleep. I write "stories" in my head after the lights are out. NEVER going back in my thoughts to anything else. It's my happy place.

I do prefer videos of women I have met... I know several actresses...

You might need a happy place to set your mind up ... before you nod off.

I had a small amount of pain (mid back) after about 7 hours of sleeping. I think tonight, I am going to try and set my alarm, today I slept a total of about 9.75 hours and I think that is too much. I just wanted to try and figure out what I would sleep if I didn't set my alarm and over 9 hours seems to be the answer. I know that 6 hours is not enough, so I figure 7 to 8 is probably what I need.

I was getting ready to head out, but the bathroom was just hijacked by this cute girl, so now I have to wait.

Well, the small amount of pain reared its ugly head, got a few spasms after lunch, I just hope this doesn’t mess me up anymore, I have to get things done. The Virginia trip is hanging over my head right now.

My back has been out for two days kind of crawling about at 1/2 speed. Going to medicate myself and play hockey tonight and see if I can reset it.
My sleep is 30 to 45 minutes on one side then rotate in 30 to 45 minutes flip back over to other side, this goes on all night and been the last five years if not more.
Can not sleep on my back too many people when I was young died sleeping on back after partying heavy.
