Probably be ready tomorrow. :)

Honestly, this is a great step, once I get the transmission shifting, then I will feel really good. We were discussing making a poor mans dyno using a big brake drum to exert pressure on the transmission output shaft. I will be happy to just see the output shaft turning and shifting through the gears. Once it is all running and working together, then I have to decide if I am building a new truck frame or installing everything directly into Perk. As much as I want to build a complete chassis, it just may not make sense. I am sure I will flip flop my position 50 times in the next couple months, so be ready to roll with it. ;)

Sounds great! Looks like we might need some YouTube videos of it running in the future!

A new frame sounds like a ton of extra work for the Perk, and I like the thought of leaving the front axle for the engine stand.

If I do the new frame it will also be all wheel drive. I had kind of planned on that anyways, but we will see how things go. I really need to take a bunch of measurements and see how much room I have in Perk, might be able to shoe horn the bigger engine from OMO. Too many projects, if you guys think it is hard to keep track, try being in my head. :(

No No No, that's a scarey dark place where you cant walk without being run over by a couple thousand ideas, it would be like walking across the 101 in California. Although a peek in the left ear with a bore scope might be cool.

Should be done with used oil after today, at least for a little while. I actually resorted to tilting 55 gallon drums to get oil into a drain pan, then manually dumping it into the tote, the pump is awful, hopefully the 110 volt one works better.

Now I have a bunch of empty 55 gallon barrels, when I say empty, they have the slime and grit left from settling used motor oil. There must be a couple gallons in each barrel, will need to figure out the best way to get rid of it, right now I am thinking a gallon of diesel fuel and some sloshing would get most of it, then the barrel would have to get tipped upside dow to let gravity do the rest. We will save that project for later, I have too much going on to be dealing with that right now.

This morning I am going to get a bunch of stuff from the SG and bring it back the TH, should be pretty well situated after that. Then I plan on bringing Perk back inside and tearing the rear end gears out so I can get a new center section, if I don’t have one that will work in stock. I also need to finish the knuckle boom plumbing and the tilt/telescoping steer column swap. After that, I should be ready to go and get the funky moving van trailer I bought. I figure that will happen mid to late February.

Lista moving madness, at least that is what I am calling it. Had to move half the cabinet at the salvage garage to get things out, looks like I am taking three to the hill, I may take more later, but in all honesty, I may just need to order the storage wall uprights and be done with it. I have some interesting ideas for the shop on the hill.

The orange forklift up on TH is leaking really bad, so it too needs work, funny thing is the one in the Quonset hut is just about as bad, first priority is Perk, then we will dive into forklifts, only have three to repair. :(

I am going to be working with a friend to get a bus, but it is a nice coach style bus and it won’t get dismantled.

I moved Listas around today too. Unfortunately they won’t fit under bench with the casters in place. c96b6d00a3d77b608d5968c0158309a6.jpg

That stinks, you going to raise the bench?

I am still unloading drawers, might get these loaded before midnight at this pace. :( Lots of cool stuff, lots of useless stuff, lots of useful stuff, in general, lots of stuff. ;)

I mapped out what tools, equipment, and supplies are going to each location, looks like I won’t need too many duplicates, definitely need to make up some boxes for the specialty stuff to get hauled back and forth. Hopefully I won’t go insane splitting duties between the SG and TH, the last couple days have been frustrating not having things that I need. I figure it will take a bit more planning on my part, but I know it can be done.

Now for the most fun of the day, one of the cabinets has locked itself and I don’t have a key that works. There was a bag that got wedge between two drawers and I had to work to get it open, once I got it out and all the way open, I shut the drawer and now they are all locked. :( :(

I guess I am loading things as is, seems that I remember one box having the back cut out due to spontaneous locking, this is the first time I have experienced it, very annoying, making me want to remove all the locking mechanisms from all the remaining boxes.

OK, so it appears that the Lista cabinet is not locked, but it thinks that there are open drawers, so it won't release any of them. I am going to take apart the other one and try and figure out how to overcome this with the least effort and damage. I got the three cabinets delivered and tomorrow I should have a chance to start setting things up.

Also my little 110 volt oil pump arrived, will be interested to see how it works, the thing looks like it is used, at the very least, it was tested by a gorilla, the handle is all scrapped up and there is oil all over the styrofoam packaging. :(

I have a cabinet like your listas that has a mechanism like that, it is supposed to keep you from opening more than one drawer at a time. It gets confused and locks out the drawer in the open position a real pia to get closed. I have to manipulate two drawers together to get it shut.

Apparently I was tired, slept in a bit today. Forgot to post this picture last night.

Will be headed to the Hill for a bit, want to test the pump out for sure, need to move a few things around and it would be nice if I could get that Lista cabinet opened up.

In order to release them, they require a firm push from a tab on the back of the drawer, I am going to try and use some sheet metal to fish it through the front of the drawer. I haven't even left the house yet, been wasting time, err, doing some research.

The drawers have a tab that resets the lock every time they close, should just need to push on the release side to get the drawers to open.

This is the tab at the back of the drawer, going to try and replicate the release side only, that way I won’t get it stuck in there too.

Introducing the new and improved patent pending Lista slim Jim.

It takes a minute to figure out what side is locked, it reverses each time a drawer shuts, so I had to flip it over and try both ways.

I did buy a new cart, this was really needed because of the two shop spaces at the hill, will make things easier. I also bought the weld in B&W hitch for Perk, this should allow me to easily haul the gooseneck trailer without messing up the fifth wheel hitch’s travel.

Also bought four of these mounts for Apple HomePods, made in Texas, very nice and gets the speaker up and out of the way. Will be installing one at the SG and office too. I bought four because the shipping was ridiculous for one and four seemed to be the best deal. Probably overkill, but I guess I don’t really care. ;)

I have a better idea, I will cut a real tab off the Lista drawer and weld it to a nice piece of stainless steel.

Almost ready to try the new pump, took some extra effort as it used bigger hose and I had to scrounge some for a makeshift setup, but if it works, I will buy better hose and make the mount for the pump too.

Other than the pump being really loud (wish I had ear plugs in loud) it worked perfectly. Took about 5 minutes to empty about 35 gallons from the drum. What a difference, wish I had started with this setup.

Are you going to use the oil for heat or is that waiting to go away.

I am not in love with it, but it is part of the shop, so I will make an attempt, this pump should make a huge difference, plus getting rid of the freaking 55 gallon drums helps too. Looks more professional this way, when I get done there will be a large drain pan on top with a screen. The pump will get a filter too. I have plenty of oil available, so if I can make it work without taking too much time and effort (and being too messy) I will continue to use it.

That looks like it will be a good setup when you get done. A friend of mine had one of those in his service station and as long as he kept the filter clean it worked great. Like you said filter it in and out should be good.
Dose that one make much noise?

The furnace sound like a jet, so not very quiet. The plan is to use it when I am not there, then use the regular heating oil furnace for when I am there. I have to get a new filter and extend the pickup tube, should be able to use the waste oil furnace again next week.
