I've got a rust free 2 door.
Just that every panel on it is tweaked a bit. Flipped a couple of times when the trailer broke loose.

At some point I will be searching for a two door, but for now I am just about the burbs. Most people see these as just an older truck, but I feel that in another few years you will not be able to buy a decent one of these for less than ten grand. The trend in vehicles is pretty crazy, but these burbs are a classic in my mind and will soon become sought after.

If we're still breathing by then, yes. I can see similar trends in the OBS Ford trucks my son and i like. We're starting to see these for 20K here and there, and i think that's insane.

Dang. I think therapy would be a cheaper hobby...I get it though. Given the space and skills I could see myself doing something like that.
Are the Suburban and Silverado frames/drive-train interchangeable? I assumed you could just grab a 2500 Silverado and throw on a Suburban body after adding a few body mounts.

OMG, I can't even think straight, I the office is like a sauna and I can't even touch paper without making it wet with sweat. I can't keep this **** up, no AC in the maroon burb either, so basically I am roasting for the next couple days. I need to move the office, but no way can I do it in this heat. I think I am going to have to look at working at night.

Why are you suffering with no a/c in the office? Is there some reason you can't pick up a room sized unit? I don't think they are too spendy. Is the office in a large space where the a/c wouldn't be able to cool the area?

Honestly at this point I don't know what to say. Housewives have soap operas, we here at Garage Journal have the Saga of the Salvage Garage. Im pretty sure the soap operas have less drama.

It blows my mind that you are spending thousands of dollars on multiple vehicles that will not do your basic point A to point B, but cannot figure out how to spend money on basic creature comforts of life--i.e. AC and a driveable vehicle.
The 'Burb as you want it is a unicorn. A vehicle is going to wear when it is on the road. That's a fact of life. It's a depreciating asset and that's just the fact of the matter. While I can appreciate wanting to enjoy and like the vehicle you drive, having it perfect is an exercise in futility.
I get your struggle, I really do.... but you are just adding to your list and there is no reasonable way to dig out.....

This is part of your problem
The Honda Element has been your best idea yet. Get a very reliable daily driver (with cold A/C) then you can work on all the other 'Burb projects.

We picked up a portable AC for the living room for cheap. Makes life easier when you can breathe inside the house. You might look into it.

I'm sure that the Feds have a few extra Burbs. And they are black and have A/C. Also very strong, even"bulletproof"

I can’t find one that fits the opening in the wall and all the windows are the swing out style, so you can’t use a regular window AC, the portable ones might work, but I would need to do some fabrication to make things fit after removing the old AC unit. We were supposed to have a mini split installed, but Dad lost interest in the office once the secretary left.

A portable unit exhausts through a hole like a dryer. It would be very simple to make the outlet fit the window. Our bedroom unit is exhausted through a dryer vent I put in the bedroom wall.

I know there are plenty of options, just wish things had been addressed before it got really hot. The plan had been to move the office to the house, where I do have a portable AC, but I waited and waited for help, then I was told I am not going able to use my Cousin at all, this made me want to do anything about it even less.

Recommendation: rely on no one but yourself. You need to move your office? Move it yourself. It’s too much to move yourself, or you just don’t want to do it personally? Certainly understandable. Hire a mover. Get it done. Don’t put yourself at the mercy of others. It just leads to disappointment.
It isn’t my office, it is his office, I have some of my stuff up there, but It is basically a computer, desk, and chair. Unfortunately I can’t do his books without a bit more equipment and supplies, also need the photocopier, no way I am moving that by myself.
To answer office location question, it is above the shop at the Hill, plan was to move it temporarily to a room in the house at the Hill, I have been reluctant with that too because I don’t want to end up having an office in the house forever if the renovations go south in the original office. We are already are butting heads on what should be done to renovate it, after I spent months figuring out how to lay things out (moving things around and making temporary furniture), he now says he wants to rebuild it exactly as it was.

If the office is "eventually" going to be renovated... why not just knock a hole in the door, and exhaust the portable air conditioner through that?
Stand the AC unit on top of a wood box, and let the water drain into a bucket. Dump the bucket as needed.
The door is easy to replace later on, and you have AC with minimal work. If the office doesn't work out, take the AC unit with you and leave the hole in the door!

The door is too far away to do any good. It is in the break room and there is already an AC unit, but since you have three rooms, it just doesn’t cut the mustard. Nothing is ever easy.
I did leave the AC in the break room on high with the office doors open, I will be curious to see if it actually makes a difference.

swing out windows are usually easily removable. couple screws usually, as long as it it wide enough for an ac. You just need boards for the top, a cross board and bolt or two to clamp it in.

My house has swing up windows, I removed the lower swing up window via 6 screws and install a window AC unit with a piece of wood to fill in the gap. It might look ghetto but I sleep very well at night. Before winter comes I pull the unit out of the window and put the window back in place. Since this is all on the third floor of the house on this side of the house, I do this all on the inside of the house. The window or Ac unit sits in the lower corner of my closet when they are not in use so I'm not carrying them up the flight of stairs.

I as well as my little brother have had that conversation with our Dad abour a set of working pens. None of it matters now because our middle brother is in charge of things and neither of us are intelligent enough to understand him.

3 years later and Bev and the same maroon burb are all he's got that's usable to drive home.
I had to bow out of this thread when I started agreeing with his old man on everything. I also got bored with the never ending "I gotta set an office up just right saga". That's on year 6 or 7 with thousands spent on apple products that needed to sync just right or life as we know it would end, printers, cabinets, file holders, etc.
I try not to be the resident crabapple on this thread, I'm trying to treat it as my popcorn thread. I definitely cannot stay away from it.
