I wasn’t going to take my pants off to sew them up, just had to be careful. ;)

LOL

I'm too old to care who sees me in my underwear. Trust me, if they don't want to see the jewels, they would certainly not look. Anyway, most people have seen plenty of examples of what we all have in our pants. Besides, underwear is not nekked.

I will admit, I draw the line at seeing man *****. COVER THEM GIRLS up boys!

It was more about stopping the rip, it kept opening up more and more every time I got up and down from the trailer.

I still am not sure if I should have moved the Mitsu all the way to the front of the trailer or not, seemed like it would not distribute the weight as well, I moved it back about four feet, didn’t want the boom sticking out the back end of the trailer.

Installed the vent visors, they will take some getting used to, but will be a great thing when it is raining or on the highway.

I think I’d move the mitsu back over the axels and swing the boom around to the front. I’m always worried about tongue weight.
But then, I’m always towing small trailers with a compact pickup. I don’t have big toys.

Well, I do have vent windows ;) the main reason for these is so I can leave the windows cracked and hopefully it will help with shutting the doors, the cab needs to be vented, too tight, so you have to slam the door. I almost always have to shut the door twice, this should make things better.

Not something we can do during the warmer months down here unless you’re comfortable with big hairy spiders emerging from under the dash or falling from sun visors while trucking down the road at speed..

Some of you will be happy, the seller of the truck I wanted, sold it out from under me after telling me that they would hold it until Sunday. The other one was a possibility, but not worth the drive all alone. I am not too pleased, but nothing I can do at this point. :(

Back to the search.

Up state guys are not the same as the downstate ones.

Have a Suburban story: Windshield cracked over winter. So for the last two weeks trying to get SafeLite to come and replace windshield. So today they say between 8 and 12. We will call and let you know we are coming.
Call at 11:45 will be there in ten minutes.
Shows up Suburban in driveway says can you put car on street, it is a main drag at 40 mph it not safe to work in street.
It is too hot to do truck there he says.
I say I will turn truck around as house in short driveway blocks sun, he says to far to walk.
He then says pull truck over sidewalk closer to his truck, I say it is not legal to block sidewalk and force people to walk in street.
So I said fine do it in the street.
Went to move car and he drove away.

If he isn't stand up enough to hold the truck, then he probably was not honest on the description. different engine, trany or suspension etc

Probable lied on details and the pictures only show the parts that either have no rust or the paint is hiding the rot underneath.

good riddance.

Unfortunately it was a woman and she had no idea about vehicles, I offered a deposit, told her I would wire transfer it the next day, she said not to worry, they would prefer to hold it and wait until Sunday. The burb was totally rust free, but was dented up pretty good in the rear quarters. I wanted it because it was diesel.

Oh well.

I wasn’t going to take my pants off to sew them up, just had to be careful. ;)
I went to a job, and ripped my pants getting out of the truck. FOrtunately I was early, and I had a jacket in the truck, so I walked in the lobby in the middle of August with a jacket tied around my waist, and asked where the restroom was. I had a little matchbook sized sewing kit so I sewed up my pants on the john and then went back out and put my jacket in the truck.

I came back in and asked for the guy I was meeting, and teh receptionist said she thought I was just using the bathroom. I told her I had ripped my pants open and I had to sew them up before the meeting. Shea laughed and said, "that explains the jacket."

Anyhow I got about 12,000 pounds of scrap from that company, good thing I had a sewing kit.

I hope you had a word with the company about that

I'm not surprised it got sold.... Candidly, with the number of flakes "buying" stuff, I would probably take first cash in person as well.... I've had too many people flake out on showing up.... That's the risk you run...

Onward and upward..... Keep focused on what you can control....

Note-you are not a flake, but a lot of potential buyers are...

I honestly believe you would have never been happy with a tan, dented up burb and it would have joined the "someday" pile out back as soon as cool weather hit.

I thought someone was supposed to wrench on the gas burb this week?

I thought I was going to be registering the other one on Monday, so I didn’t do anything on the white one. Tonight I did some research and I can see several recent burbs selling for $10k range, I also think the white one could exceed that due to the mileage and condition. I still need to put some more money into it, but I think I can safely double all the money I will have in it. It is making me sad, because it is going to get harder and harder to buy clean burbs, this is why I am going to start making them.

Someone picked up the Delorean car line. Finished making all the in progress new vehicles, I think they still make parts, but not new cars (yet). Maybe chevy would sell you the suburban rights (since they seem to always be going bankrupt).

I came very close to buying a $10k Delorean a few years back. I thought hard on it. But I have no car fixing skills, so the cool factor wouldn't have gotten me too far. But hell of a date-mobile it would have been.

I miss the 1980s.

I think the best market for me is going to be putting duramax diesels in my body style and the next generation as well. I haven’t gotten there yet, still building the infrastructure, I should be ready in the next year or so.

Love the Duraburb concept. There's some guys out west who do this professionally and offer their work online.

Always thought that would have been a great offering from GM if they only just dangled the bait, folks woulda bit!

Like these guys.....$$$$$

I’ve long thought about it. Loved our 07, Denali XL. Nearly flawless over 10 years and 190k.

But I Bought a 19’ Denali Dmax 2500. put an A.R.E. Topper on it and called it a day. They were giving them away when the redesigned 20’s came out.

I guess, things are becoming sticky and it looks like I may have to put a bunch of projects on hiatus.

I have also decided that the Hill needs to be setup for automotive type repairs (big and small) and the SG is going to be for fabrication and storage. This requires the least amount of moving things to make it happen. It also will give me a clearly defined path and I should be able to separate out tools and equipment without needing any major overlaps.

I just met with the guy that will be redoing the office, setup a decent game plan, the heat will be the biggest slow down for sure.

I hate farming out jobs, but I'm getting to the point where it's the only way I can get things done. Progress is progress, good luck.

Once I feel I can trust the person doing the work, I am fine with it. Some things I like doing, others I would prefer to pay someone to do it.

I’ve seen other companies do it as well. The Suburban is getting a factory diesel next year as well.

The factory one is more fuel efficiency, the V8 duramax is more about lots of power.

Brakes. Bigger brakes. The yukon I had didn't not have big enough brakes.

It towed fine, plenty of power. But even with the trailer brakes, it still burned out a set of brakes a year.

People with suburbans around here complained that just with city driving (no towing) and a few trips in the mountains, that they also needed brakes yearly.

Bigger Brakes.

The 2500 has pretty decent brakes.

Other idea I have been tossing around would be to buy 1988 to 1994 GM trucks and upgrade the interior/dash. That would make a nice interior but a much simpler computer controlled engine. The TBI engines are essentially one step above a carb and lots of people like the simplicity. I actually would prefer a TBI 454 over a vortec one any day.

When putting a diesel in the trucks, do you have to put the DEF system in? Or is that just on the newer trucks?

According to all the rules, you just need to have an engine (and emission system) that is at least the same model year or newer. I would stick with 2007 and older right now, no DEF and less emission BS. If you were to do a newer one, it would be a bigger learning curve to make things work appropriately. I think we are only going to have 10 or so years before they outlaw Diesel engines completely, probably similar timeframe before it becomes too expensive to get insurance on any vehicle that won’t drive itself. There will probably be an overlap for “antique” vehicles, but I suspect if you drive anything like that on the road, you would be pulled from your vehicle and beaten by environmentalists.
