I also decided that this week I am ordering a drone, been too many cool things that I could have recorded, but I have either been alone or not enough people to run a camera too.

Cool! like a BORG Drone? One that can help rebuild stuff?

It can tell every trailer or 'Burb you get:

"Resistance is futile, You will be assimilated."

ps

Do those Drones rust too?:beer::lol_hitti

I love Doctor Who!

I am leaning towards the DJI Mavic mini, it seems to do everything that I would like and it is priced fairly reasonable. I am sure there are cheaper ones available, but I am leaning towards something that a lot of people have used with good results.

After lunch, we got all the carpets and pads pulled, still need to take up the tack strips, but I wanted to get the dump trailer loaded up for Monday.

The parking area looks much better with the log loader gone, next I have to get rid of the logs and it will look 100 times better.

We also went and picked up the F-550, cost was just under $1800, thought it was a very fair price for all that he did. Got talking with him and he was showing us a truck he had, he starts talking about the big front winch he removed from it, my heart skipped a beat, so we go and look at it. The winch is a 20k pound hydraulic low mount winch, it has an extra capstan motor for pulling rope, and has a wired foot control with all the valves. The wires control means that the valves have 12 bolt solenoids and can easily be converted to wireless controls, that makes me happy. He said he would sell it, I asked how much, he tap danced, I changed the subject, then he said “how about $500?” I felt that was very fair and gave home the money, we loaded it onto the back of the F-550 and headed back to the Hill. ;)

Finally, I’ve been pushing for winches on all your rigs. What’s it going on?
I really want a 70’s 4wd Winnebago with a winch and cooler hanging off the front to cruise the beaches of the Cape. One day.
Anyway, glad to see the 550 home and that blue trailer is just meant to be.

I will look into the remote, hadn’t thought much about that.

I forgot to post the pictures of the house.

Open is much nicer.

Are you getting new cabinets too? Changing the arrangement of the stove/fridge etc?

Are you going to get a new refrigerator? If you are, you might consider a counter width model. Thinner but taller. Of course, then the cabinets above the fridge need to be removed or made higher. No one uses those anyway.

Have you fixed the hole in the roof yet? If not, have you considered putting in a range hood that vents to the outside? Something that really *****? LOL in true Strouty industrial strength fashion?

Hole in the roof is all fixed, kitchen isn’t really being reconfigured much, going to adjust the center island a bit and install the dishwasher to the right of the sink. I shouldn’t need anymore cabinets, maybe one for the island, going to install new countertops for sure.

Good plan. Everything is still nice to use. Open floor plan will allow you to change it later when you end up buying the house.

I have those same cabinets in my place right now.

The winch will be fitted to the front of Perk, but I need to swap the engine first, that will dictate where everything needs to be. So hopefully this winter. ;)

Today is going to feel like a really long day regardless of how long it is, going to look at another loader with Dad, it is a couple hours away, wish me luck.

Are you taking a trailer or will you go back for it later?

We can’t haul it, my truck isn’t powerful enough and his isn’t registered to go out of state. We did buy it, great looking machine, happy to almost be done.

It is a 2010, still has no crazy emissions, 6400 hours and the guy meticulously maintained it, he had ten of them all inside a building, he uses them to plow snow. It was more expensive, but the fact that it is a few years newer and still has decent hours was worth the extra money.

WOW that is worlds away from the rust monster your Dad had first picked out.

Glad this buying trip seems to have gone well.

I wish I had taken more pictures of his place, it is kind of funny seeing a big building like that stuffed with front end loaders three deep. He also had some nice 1970s Autocar heavy duty dump trucks that were showroom quality. Then the 1950s Mack out front as a Lawn ornament. He also had a huge lighted sign that was 20' in the air, a bit too political for this place, but I am sure you can guess.

I had the exact same experience. Bought the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom and love it and the software but flying with the phone + remote combo that's 'stock' was very restricting. Doable but annoying. Upgraded to the Smart remote and much better experience. (Kinda like fruit logo computers).

Did a quick check and the Mini doesn't support the Smart remote.

Strouty, I can't believe something is coming to Maine via you and requires no work by you?

Did the planets align over the weekend?

Come one it needs something doesn't it?

Looking at the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom, it really makes sense to buy the remote as a package, I am going to spring for the 1 year damage coverage, definitely more likely to damage it as a newbie. Plus interference around some towers could be an issue too, you never know.

OK, so the AC doesn't work, the guy was going to try and charge it, but it may need a compressor.

YES it needs something!

actually that's pretty minor considering the other things you need to work on.

Dam my cell phone won't connect again...

Oh the owner of the tower flew is %%$##@% drone into the tower again.

The drone looks pretty nice.
