It might be in realms, but I feel like a court jester, not a king.

My GF came up for lunch and I showed her the plan with the house layout, she isn't really good at visualizing so it was a bit time consuming to try and show her what I am up to. Biggest issue is she will be losing some space for a little while, I know she isn't happy about it, but she is still on board, we both know moving into this house is the only way we are getting her house renovated. I am almost done with the heat shrink, my arms, shoulders, and back are beat, they don't feel like I injured them, but more like I was lifting weights too frequently. Going to do a few more things outside, but I don't think I can keep up with the rest of the day. May even go home and take a nap, I need to do some laundry, and I always have paperwork that can be done. ;)

I was going to do some work today, but 4 back to back 13 hour days plus poison ivy and not sleeping well stopped that. I needed a day off.

Gents was that a train or a hurricane that hit us? Tomorrow, if you want me, too bad. I'l cleaning the shop and watching the Highlander movies. My heavy lifting ends tonight around 7ish. I hope your nap helped S. And MBWW, I hope your down time is restful, and enjoyable.

LOL, did you really believe I would take a nap??? I ended up pulling all the tack strips and staples from the carpet in the house, the GF offered to help, so I figured why not. Just finished that, also did some quick paperwork so I can bring more home to do if I get ambitious. Oh yeah, also took the lettering off Perk, again.

I am seriously beat now, probably try and wrap up a few other little projects tomorrow and get ready for the week. I want to have room for the F-550 inside so I can start tearing into the brakes and get my parts ordered.

Since you're on a roll with small truck brakes, I'd be more than happy to drop off the dump truck and let you do the rears. Say 8pm tomorrow night?

I thought it was later than it is, apparently I just need to go to bed. Also had some annoying news about my budget, something that was supposed to be paid is going to be delayed for a week or more and I just got two surprise bills, one has to be paid by Friday, then I still don’t know what the tow is going to cost. Some of my plans are being paused for financial practicality. I should still be able to order the brake parts for the F-550, but the mirrors may have to wait. I hate getting cash reserves down too low, especially when I am still trying to get that knuckle boom. Might be a week of target on everything, depends when I actually do get paid.

Yeah, this week is an expensive one, I am paying out about 12 grand and it hurts. It is going to take the next couple weeks to settle things back to normal, totally my fault, last week I had to pay for the F-550 repairs and parts ($2500ish), the new trailer ($4000) and then registrations ($1000). Then we had the towing (unknown, but guess is $400), a couple surprise bills (new they were due, just didn't know when and that was the surprise!), top that off with a slow paying customer and you get a mess....

I can usually find ways around it but when things hit all at once, well sometimes you just have to put yourself on a short leash. ;)

I could always try and sell something, but I did that last week. Hopefully some of that money will come my way, should help offset a bit of the surprises from the last couple days.

I can see from the other day that I need a bunch of adapters for when I am testing or trying things out, I was severely lacking in that department, also think I need to go to the SG and get all the adapters that I have and bring them to the Hill, I just don't see doing too much with hydraulics at the SG right now. Trying to keep the SG as deep storage and fabrication/machine shop, the Hill will be vehicle building and basic fabrication, but I do not want to haul all the welding equipment and machine tools to the Hill, there isn't enough room and I don't think it is worth the effort. If I end up at the Hill (meaning I actually buy it) then I may decide differently, as always things change.

Need to get some more cleaning done on the shop, so I can get the F-550 inside, hopefully I have enough jack stands to take all the wheels off, if not, I am taking a trip to the SG for sure.

I found a hose reel that was in stock, ordered it so I can at least check something off my to do list. Good thing is that it will hold 50' of hose, so my current hoses will fit without any issues, saved a bunch of money ordering it without hose, plus if I want a longer set of hoses later, it will work. I think I will order another one down the road for Perk, definitely don't need it yet.

Going to try and move a couple old snowplows, then get rid of some stumps to make a larger area so I can work on taking out the last big stump in the parking area behind the shop.

It works very well, I have taken some big ones out, just need to dig the roots first. This one was tough due to all the rock that the roots grew around. It also had an eight foot trunk, so that gave me some leverage when pushing on it.

The snow plows should be scrap, but Dad saw them and all of a sudden he wants to keep them for some reason, he says someone will pay a couple hundred for them. I don’t agree, but once he sees something, he won’t forget about it for a while. If I try and scrap them it could start world war three, so I am just going to put them way out back, where they won’t be in the way of anything. Maybe in another couple years I will be able to scrap them. I can hear the conversation now Dad- “why did you keep those, they should have been scrapped years ago”, Me - my best Homer Simpson impression. ;)

I am also thinking I may just move the logs over the embankment for now, once I have a plan for them, they will still be easy enough to get to, but they won’t be in the way of plowing. It would make things look a lot better, that is for sure. Maybe by the time I get to them, they will be so rotted, I don’t have to worry about them anymore???? ;)

Two tiers down with a lot of other things that should be sold or scrapped.

Good news is Clark does pretty well on the hills, the tilt is just about perfect, keeps the load level on the way down the hill. Definitely needs more counterweight and I wish it had a lower gear, have to keep on the brakes so it doesn’t try and over rev the engine.

My old man scraps about once a week. Me, once a year. Why keep it longer than that? Unless you're doing it to make money. Me it's about trying to bes t smart and environmentally friendly.

I am about once a year, but if I have a big project going it may be a lot more. I have only been once this year for my stuff and it was loaded up last year before the snow.

Moved the pile, way more logs than I thought, some were buried pretty good.

Drop them at your Dad's house.:bounce:

Seriously, I thought you said in a previous post, that you had an embankment you were tossing the chimney bricks into? can the stumps go there too?

That embankment is going to be parking at some point, so I would prefer not using stumps as fill. Although the outlook for a spot is kind of bleak and I may have to put them there temporarily, crappy part is I could have put them there with the excavator, no need for the dump truck. For tonight, they will just sit in there, I have plenty of other things to do right now.

Found a spot that I can easily get to, down behind the burn pile. Looks like the perfect place to make a stump pile, I need to cleanup the trees and mess anyways, so at some point the Mitsu will have to go down there.

Had to take a picture for scale, the burn pile is a lot bigger than it should be.

Decided to get rid of the pile of rotted wood that was left after moving the logs. I am on the second load now.

I would make a platform that is the proper height, you could leave it outside when needed, then just use the forklift to put your stuff on the platform, then pick the platform. I have seen guys flip the forks upside down as well, but I don’t think the would work very well in this instance. I am still thinking about buying another Clark, there is a guy that has had one for sale for a while, might just have to buy it, then I can have one at each location. ;)

It is nice to have a cute little yard truck.

Made a big dent in things, looks a lot better. Will have to straighten up his “not rotted, yet” log pile another day.

It used to get burned every winter, but the ex employee got lazy in 2018, then I didn’t have time to prep it for last winter. Of course everyone has piled stuff on, so now it is huge, will have to burn it in a big snow storm.

One of too many, Dad went on a boat buying kick for the Island dock project a few years back. I am sure it is junk, most likely was junk when he bought it. :(

Here in the Denver area, we might get 2-7in of snow tomorrow night.

Over 90deg yesterday and in the 40s Tuesday.

Since the trees are still in full leaf, heavy snow will sure take out a few limbs.

Good part is, there is a forest fire near by that has had the entire metro area smoke filled for days. The sunlight is all orange tinged and smells like camp fire.

Crazy temperature swing for sure. I am not ready for snow yet, need another couple months......

Hopefully it will take care of the fire, or at least help and won't take out too many trees and power lines.

It has been a hot summer, cold will feel nice. The snow will melt off fast and it will be in the 80s by the weekend. We'll still be wearing shorts into November.

Even with temps into the 20s over night, the ground is too hot to let much freeze. If people cover their gardens, they will still get another month of gardening time. Since so many people are now used to working from home, the traffic should be OK too.

Lots of forest fires this year too, the moisture will sure help to put those out. And clear the particulates (smoke) from the air.
