Damn, I haven't checked in on strouty since Friday, and I have to read about an hours worth of messages to catch up! You are one busy man Strouty!

Met with the crane guy and a contractor that is working on removing one of the buildings from the tower site, looks like it will be a couple weeks before it happens. Would be nice if I could schedule the tower removal while the crane is there, but the ownership is still in limbo, I hate huge companies, things that take me days, takes them months. Of course that is probably why I beat them to the punch originally with the tower, so maybe I shouldn’t hate it too much.
Just finished watering the plants in the rain garden, they are all doing very well, even the couple I thought were going to need to be replaced are sprouting new leaves. Got to do some errands, then a bit of office work, then more errands, then, who knows?

Im late as well, had my own weekend of projects, then an hour of reading here. Yard is shaping up I see. Im a little disappointed in the trailer rust/rot, but hey, get it all fixed up and it'll be slick.
As for the F550. The rear rack should come off when not needed and be slid in "laid down" on the back so it acts as a step. That gives you a "bumper" and step, the downside being when its in use and vertical, you have no good step. The tradeoff seems worth it in my mind. You'd have to cut holes for it to slide into and pin in place.
I agree the truck has a ton of wasted space. Definitely need sliders in the main box, which is easy to do since they make all kinds of them. You've got the crane block figured but I agree with the welded loop on the boom idea someone suggested. That custom hyd tank seems great until I realized its literally 2in or less thick. Seems too narrow almost. Junk it and toss a normal tank under the flatbed along the side. Something universal and easy to replace or get parts for. With plenty of spots for fittings and an easy fillerneck/sight glass.

The trailer was about as expected on my end, I agree when it is completed, it will be slick as can be.

I ended up ordering the mirrors for the F-550, although, I think that I am going to only get a right side mirror. If they send both, I will be happy as can be, if they send just one, my 20 minute phone conversation with a sales rep would have been in vain. They have the OE PN listed just for a right side mirror, I told them that, but they insist that the description of a pair is accurate. I told them the list price they showed was for one mirror, they said it was accurate for the pair, then they said that they have low over head, I tried to explain that the next closest price from another "low overhead" seller was more than $400 more for the pair. They assured me that two would show up and if not the return shipping would be on them. We will see, but I figured I would take a chance, it is a reputable seller that I have dealt with before through eBay, so I don't think they are trying to scam me.

Looking at things from the office stairs, feels a lot better, need to remove a few trees and some rocks so I can plow things better. I will be ready this winter, not like last year where I didn’t have access until it was too late to do anything about it.

Your sunny green forest is quite the contrast to my dreary wet and slushy morning. Woke up to slushy white stuff on the grassy areas and roofs. It was rainy all night, but not so cold, I was able to leave the window open all night. The cool temperatures sure felt good though, it's been in the 90s here for weeks.
The rain/snow has nicely dampened the visible smoke, but you can really smell it it now: wet campfire. It's raining now and is supposed to rain/snow all day. We need the moisture and it's got to be drowning the fires...

I hope the weather does help, we don’t have the fires, but we sure could use the rain (not snow). I appreciate the comments, hopefully things will keep progressing, I am making another mess now, trying to get some stuff out of the old office and into the new. Really need to spend a few (read several) hours on putting things away in the new office.
Tomorrow I am meeting with the electrician to discuss how we are fixing the mess in the shop/old office, should be interesting, at least there won’t be too much in the way.
I took these before I started, looks even better now.

I hate taking down trees for parking. but I'm going to have to drop 3 or 4 of them. And the office looks worlds apart from the previous condition.
Just to clarify that is the office that is being rebuilt, so I have to remove everything and bring it down to the house or put it in storage. I can see the end though, another half day and I might have it emptied.
I am off to empty the dump trailer, that way I can fill it again!

Winter won’t be a problem, it’ll freeze up solid. It’s the soft season before winter and mud season after that could be issues. Especially at the newly disturbed edges.

really I just need to weld chains on it and throw some lumber to keep firewood out of the wheels. had to sawzall the hitch off and bolt another to the top to get it home *** the original was rusted shut.

One is smaller, but not as small as the Jeep style, the other is deuce size.
Slept like **** last night, woke up at 1:30, think I fell back asleep around 4, I hate it when that happens.
Meeting with the electrician this morning, otherwise I would have tried sleeping longer. Today is a messed up schedule, lots of stupid things to do, probably not much of anything as far as shop related stuff.
On a possibly good note, the mirror delivery says 28 pounds so there certainly is hope that there are two of them. Says Friday delivery too.

Electrician had some good thoughts, he is a real go getter too.
I ordered the rotors and pads for the F-550, waiting to see what turns up with calipers. The seat belt doesn’t retract very well, so I figured it might not work in other ways either, ordered a new one of those too.
Now I need to measure the forks on Clark, trying to come up with some box tube to make a trailer jockey/lifting device. That is on Saturday’s agenda.
Need to run a few errands, then stop at the SG, going to pickup some countertop material for my office, probably have to cut it down, but I need something to cover one of the file cabinets.

All we did was burn a hole in the end of a fork and bolt on a hitch ball. Worked fine.
Some of my trailers are too heavy to do that, I also have a lot of pintle hutch trailers, so this should work better for me. I think I can also make a nice lifting ring into it, so there will be a secondary purpose as well. Then down the road, it could have a fifth wheel and gooseneck adapter making it an all around setup.

Today I had planned to go and deal with some bank issues with my Dad, he told me last night that he would be available just after 1 PM, he had two morning appointments and was not going to the island. I set my schedule up entirely around this, I did errands that fit into the timeframe, then when I called him, he was out at the island, he says "sorry, the appointments are tomorrow". Now tomorrow would have been an awesome time to be doing errands, it is supposed to be raining, not like today, a nice sunny day, now almost totally wasted due to lack of communication on someone's part. To him, it is just a change, no problem at all, I could have gotten mad, but it does no good, so I vent here instead, sorry.

Been chasing propane companies trying to figure out how I am going to move the 500 gallon tank with propane in it, I figured someone would come and pump it out, but no one has any idea of how this is handled, most people dismiss me as soon as they find out it is a "customer owned" tank. More research is in order for sure, might end up being a Sunday morning drive with a bomb on the trailer.........

I am slowing down a bit, the last two nights lack of rest is getting to me, also my knees are trying to tell me something.
Snap On guy is coming tonight, then I have to hit Home Depot to get a gift card for the house project (24 months no interest runs out tonight), love those deals, should be able to get new water heater, pressure tank, and a combo pressure tank/pump (for winter water). These are all in need of replacement, plus I am going to pour a slab to get things leveled up in the basement area. I also need to replace the cheap exhaust pipe with some metalbestos (that won't be cheap), I have been looking for some used stuff, it pops up from time to time. Then there is the shop furnace, that needs to be replaced, I could repair it, but I do not think it would be worth it, should be able to find a used unit, plus I want a low boy design, so I can have it mounted up high off the ground. Those are just a few of my things that need to be done on top of all my things that need to be done.

Got the counter set in, not going to screw it down yet, because I am not sure it is staying like that. I think I will move the file cabinet closer to the baseboard heater, then I should have enough room for the shredder and recycling next to the copier. Still have to adjust my desk and the middle file cabinets, but I think it is going to work very well for me.
It matches the wall paper very nicely.
I also realized why my knees hurt, yesterday I did several trips up and down the office staircase with heavy things, that always hurts the next day or two.

If they want 5k to move the tank, pay it.
If anything goes wrong it’s on THEIR insurance, not out of your pocket.
The piece of mind is worth the extra cost.

Yes, it does all go together fairly well.
So what is the procedure to get it emptied? I read from DOT that if the tank has more than “x” percentage of fuel it can be moved, but must be the only tank transported, must have placards, and needs a cradle to support it, not the regular legs. I will see if I can find the link, seemed very legitimate.

nah if its 5k leave it. propane is $2.36 a gallon and tanks are supposed to only be filled to 80% so it has if smack full at most 1k in propane and a used tank is worth maybe a grand id guess. I see new ones listed online for about 1,500.
figure out how full it is and burn it off or something.
Burning has been suggested, I figure some sort of weed burner or two, just let them go. I don’t know how much is in there, so it could be a while.
Here is the link, I have not looked to see if it is stamped with a “U” yet. Regardless, I am thinking emptying it is probably the best and safest solution. I still have a few more calls to make.
