Do you recall putting that beam near the door like that? I could see the ******* that worked for your dad leave a surprise like that for you.

Nothing seems weird other than my tooth and a sore head. I had someone with me. The beam had shifted when we moved the trailer and it just wasn’t expected. I am sure I will be sore tomorrow, the GF doesn’t know about it yet.

Glad you aren't symptomatic. BUT if later you start feeling weird, get help.

Also, I suggest you don't try to whistle, I had a chip on the front tooth and it hurt until the dentist ground it down some and put something on it to seal it. But it was a small chip, you lost a good chunk there. The sooner you see the dentist the better, so that he can save the whole tooth. Did you save the piece? They might be able to glue it back on (famous last words).

You may want to stand back when you tell your GF, she might smack you for getting hurt. Girls are funny that way.

My GF is all freaked out, but she says my pupils are the same size. I have none of the signs of a concussion, but I will keep paying attention to it.

S&A, both my front teeth have been broken before, then the root was drilled out years later. I have no pain from that aspect, just feels weird with a chunk missing.

When I concussed myself it took a day for me to get bad. Then I was staggering around, slurring my words, and randomly emptying the contents of my stomach around the yard.

Glad there is no pain. I had issues with hot and cold on mine for years. LOL I chipped it on a beer bottle at 17yrs.

Bad thing is, I had knocked out a front tooth when I was little. Then the adult tooth grew in exactly sideways. They were going to "turn it around" when they noticed I had another set of teeth coming in behind my new permanent teeth. So they pulled both my front upper permanent teeth. It took 4 years for the new teeth to descend. All I wanted for Christmas for 4 long years was my two front teeth. I still eat corn on the cob with my side teeth. LOL

My mom was pissed when I chipped that new front tooth.

When they fix your tooth, maybe get a nice gold one, set with a diamond? That is styling.

Yeah, it can sneak up on you. People die from that.

My old boss, he was painting the garage. Apparently fell off the ladder, he has no memory of it.

The garage was painted. Tools and supplies put away. His wife found him sitting naked on the bed, staring off into space. He has no idea how long he sat there. Question was: did he finish painting before or after he got naked? None of the neighbors saw him...

Ironically, he was the safety officer at work. The phrase: "this is not a step" was used for years as a safety reminder when someone was not being safe...

Between my misshapen forehead and the broken tooth, I feel like I could have been in the movie “Wrong Turn” or “The Hills Have Eyes”. Or maybe “The Goonies”, Baby Ruth?

I took a shower and then could not remember how to put my underwear on. Wife dressed me and hauled my to the er. Got an ambulance ride to Charlotte where they split my head open and did some bolt torquing and alignment. 5 days later I was home with a big head.

Damn.

Closest I have had to a head injury was I was cleaning out the horse trailer, I was sweeping under the saddle racks (steel tree like structure). I stood up too close to it and caught it between my eyes, on the bridge of my nose/forehead between the eyes. Didn't break my nose and only had small black eye. But for months after that, bright light caused me to see stars and I couldn't stand up fast or I got a head ache. I didn't go to the doctor, probably should have. I think I cracked where the nose attaches to the skull, more the skull side. Took months to feel normal again.

Ya know, with most GJ threads, I just click on the bullet to view the last entry. With Salvage Garage, I usually start with "previous page" just to see all that's happened in the last few hours.

Strouty, I got hit in the forehead with a croquet mallet when I was seven (Father's Day 1953). Got to ride to the Hospital in a brand new '53 F100 truck from the machine shop Dad was working in on weekends. I attribute this knock on my head to my love for '53 - '56 F100s. I hope during that dazed period right after the hit you didnt fixate on something like an old Fire Truck or somethin.......... oh, wait - you've hit your head before, right?

He was hit by a truck, with a knuckle boom, pulling a trailer, loaded with a Suburban and a fork lift, and a Lista cabinet in the passengers seat.

That made me LOL.

When this hit me I didn’t see stars or lose any consciousness, I did close my eyes and I did say WTF hit me to my Buddy. I caught a glimpse of it, I knew it was a chunk of wood, had no clue where it came from. I got right up and said I still know it is Saturday, then checked for blood, spit some teeth out, then went inside for an ice pack and Advil. The bump is almost gone now, I slept well, figured I was going to have nightmares of falling lam beams. ;)

Hopefully two big lumps is enough for the rest of the year, I just hope this isn’t starting a trend for me. First the hand, then my head, the worst part was 10 minutes before that I was all bent out of shape because the new booster packs would not start the 5 ton and I had said “that things couldn’t get any worse”, my Buddy said “Don’t say that, it will show you.” Well, we all know what happened, so I can’t say that again. :(

For anyone even remotely thinking about buying Snap On’s 12/24 volt booster pack, they ****, I bought two and they were different than my old one, the old one was Snap On as well and I love it. The old one has a switch that is either off, 12 volt, or 24 volt, the new one has a panel that you push a momentary button to change voltages. You are supposed to hold the power button for 3 seconds if the battery is lower than optimal voltage or if there is no battery. It works fine for 12 volts, I used it to run the camper landing gear, but on 24 volts, if the batteries are low or not there, it thinks you screwed up and it swaps back to 12 volts automatically. The old pack will start a 24 volt system with no batteries with no issues. I guess I need to find another old one.

I am definitely taking it easy today, need to bring in the garden hose reel and do a few things like that. I did my laundry and got the clothes all folded. I want to try and get up to the Hill later and deal with the hose up there, this coming week I have to swap over to "winter water", that shouldn't be too bad to do. I also want to get the rest of the coax off the tower sections and it would be really nice to get some of them disassembled, I think I have help for a couple days if the weather holds and my head is OK. There is still a very large lump up there, but nothing like from the first photo.

And to break up the monotony if head injuries, I took a picture of a pretty leaf yesterday.

Good you are feeling better. Please don't over do it today...

Pretty leaf. I like seeing the foliage in your photos, we don't really have that kind of leaf change here in Colorado.

Snow on the ground today and maybe up to 10in by tomorrow, temperatures in the twenties for a high. We need it as the forest fires are at record size now and thousands have been evacuated.

Luckily we don’t generally have forest fires.

I think we may get some snow later this week, but it won’t be much and I suspect it won’t last long at all.

I can’t wear a hat yet, still too tight, and my eye is starting to get some blue around it. Looks like I am getting ready to go to a Cure concert with some eyeliner. ;)

I guess the beam was only 4” by 8”, still hurt.

It was precariously leaning against the second door, so when I swung it open, it fell down on me.

I am trying to get battery situation for the 5 ton squared away, looks like at least one battery of the four may still be good, I have to at least charge a couple before I test them, right now they are really low. Thinking it may be the one bad battery killing the rest. The top post is actually broken and pulling out of the battery.

Hey Strouty, weren't you supposed to lean that beam up against the trailer door when you put it in there?
