I know that feeling, no heat. It's nice to have a back up source. Neither of mine is entirely stable, but they're reliable enough to make it through the day.

Are you sure that the nozzle isn’t clogged or restricted ?

It was definitely some issue with the pump. I pulled it apart and cleaned the strainer, I did get it to finally run, but it has little to no flow so it sputters every so often. I cranked the heat so if it does quit, it should take a while to drop again.
On a good note we messed with the transmission a bit and there is nothing really wrong with it, the reason we thought there was a problem was because it would not spin freely, it would go about halfway and then get stuck. We tried powering through it with the top cover off so we could see the gears while we spun things. It went past the stuck spot, but there was no reason that we could see why it would stick. Then my buddy moved the clutch arm, and all the sudden it spun freely??? There was no clutch, but the clutch brake was still there and it had two little studs that stuck out and were hitting on the clutch arm just enough to stop the transmission from spinning. So the 18 speed is good to go, probably try and get that done sometime next week. I plan on cleaning it all up and painting it so it looks pretty.

Got some of the equipment over to the tower site this morning, going to bring the bucket truck over soon. That slab is going to be a real PITA due to the frost wall.
I figure it will take me a few hours to get it broken up, but the rebar needs to be cut off first, that will probably take about the same amount of time.

It’s 5 o’clock and I can still see outside!
I am trying to figure out logistics now for getting trucks to the tower site, looks like I am going to load the maroon burb on the trailer behind Bev, then go over and unload, then I can do one more trip tonight, that should get all the tools and trucks that will be needed on site. Probably won’t need half the tools that I am bringing, but I fell this time it is better safe than sorry, should be five extra helpers tomorrow, don’t want to get caught without the right tools.

I unhooked the tru-hitch earlier, first time I have had it sitting on its own, it is pretty stable with the arms extended, I messed with them retracted, but it felt tippy and I didn’t want to have it fall on its nose.

Got the rest of that section apart in small pieces until we could get the entire face cleared.
Tight quarters.
This is lowering the face of the tower, two legs and cross braces. Perk could pick the whole thing without much effort.
Then we hooked a cable to the top of this section, ram it through a pulley at a tree, then back to the skid steer......
Gentle pull, then slam!
It actually bent some of the bracing and broke a bolt off.

Yes, all the “hard” stuff is getting done, tomorrow we should have all of the big sections dismantled, then I hope to start breaking up the other concrete building so we can get that hauled off on Friday. I want to have the bucket truck back to the Hill by this weekend and the Mitsu back early next week. Then I can bull the final amount for the job. Worst thing is that this morning scrap prices dropped $30 a ton so the steel is not worth much at all right now, but I am not interested in waiting for prices to come up again. I just want to be done with things. The weather looks like it is going to hold into next week too.

Yes. It isn't a truck I drive around without using bucket so..... I'm sure it would go up if it was a typical service truck. I got no complaints at 10 mpg anyway.

Sometimes just getting the project done is worth any amount of money. I'm with you, phooey with scrap prices, just get it over and done.
At this point, the only thing being saved are the tower legs, ladder sections, and the framework around the building that I am keeping. The rest is going away. We got a lot done today, but not as much as I had hoped, the three tower legs that were still mounted to the concrete piers are up, I wanted to get those down today, we are set for tomorrow. The issue was the bolts holding the legs to the pier, I didn’t have a big enough adjustable wrench, and the socket wasn’t deep enough, I am grabbing a pipe wrench and bigger adjustable wrench just to be safe.

what size is all that angle and the bracing pipe? if its heavy enough to be useful ill buy a bunch
All the tower is apart and the bracing is all at the scrap yard, huge relief having that all done. Still have to do a bunch more work this weekend to be ready for Monday. Hopefully I can get the framework around the little building down, move the building over, and get the slab broken up, that will allow me to have all the concrete hauled away and then the bucket truck and the Mitsu can go home to the Hill. I am going to give dad the opportunity to get the tower legs, if he doesn’t pick them up, then those will go to the scrap yard too. I saved one tower section, only 5’ tall and the ladder sections, that is really it. Felt pretty good about that.
Thanks Ron, I am worn right out. Nothing like manhandling heavy steel all day for three days in a row, especially while being in a bucket truck.
I started trying to demo the last building, it is a PITA, the rebar is so close together, the concrete just breaks in little pieces and then you have a really rugged wire cage left. It was supporting the roof even after I broke away all the concrete along the roof line.

That must have been a pretty stout telecom site. If it's all coming down, I assume that any carriers that occupied it are long gone. I spent 20+ years in wireless telecom - a lot of those building tower sites - and it's even harder today to get a site zoned, built and leased. I could not glean out any details about this site from previous posts, but I'm curious about how you acquired the property...if and only if you care to share that. Sorry if I missed the details if they are somewhere in the thread.

Maybe you need to rent one of those big demolition jaws. The kind that look like a rough n ready three jawed shear, and can slice through almost everything.

That would have been my suggestion.. demo saw. I'm surprised you don't have one already...
I have the Stihl 12" saw. It is much lighter than the 14" ones and its easier to use for long periods of time. I had a 14" for awhile but ended up selling it this past summer.
The rebar will still be a pain, but maybe you can cut into slabs to haul away...

A cutting torch would be quicker and cheaper than a saw.

I'd like to see the cutting torch cut concrete.....
I'm pretty sure Strouty has a torch....
I was gathering that the idea would be to slice thru the entire slab to chunk it up for disposal...
I bought my used demo saw for $325.
Used torch was $200, but add in cylinder fills and replacing a leaking regulator, it was well more than the demo saw.
Both have their place... I use them where it makes sense..

The idea is to bust the concrete with that hammer and then cut the rebar with the torch. Strouty already HAS the torches, so the only cost would be the gas and 02.
