Based on recent project purchasing spree's, you are down to about 14 years old now.

I have heard that 10 years old is the best age. Old enough to know how to not get hurt and young enough to not be allowed out at night.

That's exactly the mindset I have, I used to pile up the projects, now I only want to finish what I have started.

Sent from my SM-A102U using The Garage Journal mobile app
I am the same now. I have sold projects I had tucked away as I knew I would not get round to them or ever be able to finish them.

Recently I had another clear out and it feels so much better just having 4 or 5 things to do rather than 15!

“Do what makes you happy.....until it doesn’t “

I like this one.

Right now we are cleaning out the office space so the guy doing the remodel has access to everything he needs. It is a real PITA, things are going to have to be moved into my house as well as into the Quonset hut. We did throw away a ton of stuff, so that helped for sure. My Cousin just headed off to Staples for more file boxes, the cabinets that are in the way are 5 drawer units and they are full, there are also 2 full 4 drawer units. I think it will take close to 50 boxes, but moving them full is not an option, especially since we will need to move them again at a later date. :(

I am packing now, we are actually taking the train to Boston tonight, then flying out early tomorrow with a direct flight to Orlando. Then we take an hour and a half Uber ride south to pick up the “classic” Astro van. ;)

Then we need to get new tires, have the oil changed and check over everything for the ride back. I am bringing four tools, mini screwdriver, small pliers wrench, small adjustable wrench, and small cobras, that should cover the basics. Trying to pack light, don’t want to check any bags.

Still packing my bags, always tough when you don't travel a lot. Of course I am also trying to pack for 80 degree weather, then 60 degree weather, then 30 degree weather all across 3 days. And then I am sure I will forget something, I just figure that is a given on any trip I ever take. My only thing that I can't bring that I wanted to bring is the lithium battery bank, I got one that is too big to take on the plane. I had planned to buy a Milwaukee M18 battery pack at Home Depot or something, but then I also need a charger, so not sure that makes sense. Outfumbled myself again!

The train was ok, they only had Pepsi as a mixer, the mask sucked, I don’t wear them for that long usually. The hotel bed is so stiff, if I sleep on my side I feel like I am on the sidewalk. I have a feeling we won’t get to eat again until after we pick up the Astro turd. :(

This trip is Trains, Planes, and Automobiles!

LOL, LOL, LOL! So you are the John Candy character? Truly a great loss to the Funny community!

We had two different Astro's [Safari's actually] very reliable and very utilitarian,
One died from rust the other was used as an auxiliary bumper brake for a Dodge Ram, one early, (1990), and one later style (2001) I miss them both. Have fun and enjoy yourselves! Harry

Sounds like we are going to be trains, planes, automobiles, trains, and automobiles again. We are going to take the Amtrak auto train part way home and then drive the rest of the way. I am at Applebee’s drinking Blue Hawaiian Long Island iced teas. It is 85 out and I don’t like the transition from 30s to 80s in 24 hours, especially with masks. I was trying to catch a lizard running around, I love lizards. ;)

It has been a bit of a pain, we are now back to Orlando, but the rear calipers are sticking so badly we may have to replace them tomorrow. I am not sure how things are going to end, my buddy is getting wicked cheap and making me think he is now going to risk driving it the entire 1500 miles with the calipers sticking instead of taking the train for the first 1000 miles. His reasoning is that it gets better on the highway and is only really an issue when you are in stop and go traffic. It’s a bit frustrating as it isn’t technically my party, so it isn’t ultimately my decision. I don’t want to piss him off, but I would prefer to stay a day or two longer and try and score a better daily driver.

The guy planes, trains, and automobiles all the way from NJ (or is it Maine) to pick up an old Astro and he didn't plan for any repairs or repair expenses on it on the long drive home?

As the wing man on this trip I'd be considering how long I got dragged along for the ride before I pulled the eject handle.

Not saying you should bail on your buddy, but that sure sounds like a formula for a not real fun trip. Even the Road Kill Garage guys do repairs on the heaps they drag home.

That weather sure sounds nice though, hope you're enjoying it and the trip goes smoothly whatever he decides to do about the Astro's brakes.

Go get a cheap Walmart brake job, near the beach with bikinis.
Just starting to snow, another irritating 1-2".

You know you are leaving the south when two things happen.

1) the banjo music in the background stops
2) you stop seeing alligators

Confession, the gators in the pond picture was taken in Colorado, damn global warming.

So this morning we did go and look at a truck for me. It ended up being great, except that it was from Massachusetts and was rusty. :(

We are in a parking lot trying to change out the brakes now. We are not taking the train, he is making it sound like he wants to drive all night now. His idea is to get some plywood and an air mattress and one of us can sleep while the other drives. Except I have a CPAP machine and if I don’t use it sleeping is worse than not sleeping at all. He won’t stop for ten seconds and figure things out, he just wants to GO, then gets mad when we go the wrong direction. This won’t be happening again, I hate to say it, but I would go solo before going with him again, unless we planned things out before hand. He didn’t even tell me where we were going and when he did get plane tickets, he didn’t send me any itinerary. Everything has to be last minute. :(

I took a break from him and his brakes, going to see if he is done or pinned under the van.

I could do that, but I wanted to *****. ;)

We just got the van together fir the test drive, still sounds like there is something running, but I don’t think it will be enough to stop us (LOL) from proceeding. I took a candid of my buddy.

Wish I’d read this sooner, if you were 1-1/2 hours south of Orlando, you weren’t far from me.
Where did you pickup the van?
