We brought them to Dad's lake house, he has a large garage up there with a couple projects that he doesn't work on.......

The office is moving along, seems we keep opening up cans of worms. We had planned on installing new windows, so we removed the drywall around one to see what size rough opening we had to work with, the insulation was basically one big nested community, bees, birds, mice! Nothing alive, but plenty dead, the board and batten exterior is allowing everything full access, so now we are going to tear off everything and sheath the outside, then rework the board and batten. It will delay things another week at least, I am already thinking end of August, but now I am betting it will be September before we are done. :(

I mean, who builds a house without exterior wall sheathing? Is this the same place that has the metal roofing without roof sheathing? Unreal.

To be fair, this isn't the house, it is the barn/shop and in some places it had tar paper behind the siding. Also was built in 1976 by my Dad and friends, not all carpenters either.......

Typical New England modified construction parameters. Glad to see you have a plan to reconstruct the most critical components and provide for a tighter and more energy efficient space to fight the good fight.

And ponder the next project...

I have been doing all sorts of nothing, have to get things prepped for the next process. Actually made a few notes on a whiteboard so I can keep tabs on things. Hope to get started on things again Friday.

There was a bird in the office this morning, apparently it could get in through one of the holes, but not out.

I am working on a few things in the shop at the Hill this afternoon, got the oil tank drained into the other one (finally). Now I am working on shuffling things around so I can actually do a bit of work using the lift. I have to change the oil in the Burb as well as the tires. Wednesday night I plan on trying to get more stuff done, but those two things are kind of a priority right now. Unfortunately it seems the transmission is slipping in between shifts, just started this morning. I have to take a look at the fluid, but that is not usually how a 4L80E acts when it is low, at least not from my experience. Probably do a spill and fill just to see what happens, the truck just rolled over 290k miles and it appears to be the original transmission, can’t complain about that. ;)

One flew through the cuckoo's nest? Almost 300k on a work truck automatic trans? I'd say you got your money's worth out of it

I have some meetings today, going to try and fit a few things in later this afternoon. I did check the Burb's fluid and the transmission isn't low, it is definitely old fluid, but doesn't smell burned. I will plan on a spill and fill this week, might get lucky, but I doubt it....

I may actually get lucky, seems to be heat related, this morning was colder and it shifted like normal even after coming up to operating temps. I plan on changing the fluid no matter what, but now I have fingers and toes crossed. ;)

When does the Lista wall show up?

They have changed the date a couple times, last update was the week of 5/14, but that doesn't make much sense since it is a Friday, I sure hope they didn't mean 6/14 (that is a Monday). I will check in next week if I don't hear anything by Friday, between the electrical and the modifications that I have to do to the uprights, it will be a few weeks before I am ready anyways.

Today has been interesting, spent time with the lawyer figuring out the next direction with Sprint on two of our towers, he wants me to be mellow, I want to terminate the leases first, then see what happens.... ;)

Then I met with a younger guy (younger than me anyways) and he is trying to work a deal with me to setup some mesh wireless system that allows mining of crypto currency. I haven't completely wrapped my head around it yet, but it seems interesting. He wants to pay a flat monthly fee, then give me a 20% share, on top of that he is looking to turn it over to me in 3 years with the caveat that he would retain 10%. There have been no real numbers spoken yet, but we would be the first to offer this from towers in the immediate area. I have a friend that deals with this stuff and I need to talk to him a bit more before I advance the negotiation with the guy.

Figure out what your towers would earn normally over the three year projection add your profit and then look at his proposal because crypto currency is an unknown - 20% share of promises is zero, in 3 years 90% of promises is still zero - if it is a money maker why give away the golden goose unless that's goose is cooked. If you give him a deal on the towers he could sublet them depending on the contract and make money and you lose. The crypto currency is a roller coaster right now without and safety controls.

He would not have the option to sublease, he would pay rent for one antenna, so the possibility of 20% of nothing or something is just a gamble, but I am not opposed to gamble from time to time.

Do you really have that much cheap electrical power around your neck of the woods? From everything I've read, crypto mining takes HUGE amounts of power. Most people usually look for an old laundry mats or automatic car washes in order to have an electrical feed big enough for their servers. At least from the articles I read.
