I am not really sure if I was making a point???

Today I decided to try and clean up my desk at the office, been almost two hours and I can almost see the desk itself. Funny how trying to sort through papers can take so much time when you have no good way to file it. I have filled the recycling bin, shredder too, now I am almost to a manageable pile. Of course I basically broke it into five separate piles, but at least those piles have a dedicated reason for being a pile and remember, all piles matter.

I am going to spend a bit more time in the office, then head out to the shop so I can gather a few things, then I am headed to the Salvage Garage to unload a few things. My plan is to try and balance things a bit better, I am getting burned out. At least after Thursday my schedule can somewhat go back to normal, my GF will be working from 10 to 6 instead of 7:30 to 4:30, will be nice to be able to have the bathroom at a reasonable time rather than wicked early or fairly late. My body likes consistency and I do the best when I am in the shower a bit before 6AM.

This week I hope to dedicate some time to Perk as well as the Lista storage wall, I should have some help that is a bit more dependable and a little more self sufficient, the helper kid probably set my progress back more than a month, not doing that again, Dad can have him for weeks on end if he wants him. :(

At least Monday will be a good day of labor.........

Didn't get any shop time, but I did make it to the SG to drop off some things. Looking things over and making a list for what needs to be done, I haven't been here in almost three weeks and I have kind of forgotten about all the things that I have going on over here....

I will take one bite at a time, going to try and be here a few afternoons each week if not more. Once I start making some headway, pictures will follow.

Even with progress I still have the defeated feeling, it is very clear that I will NOT be getting anywhere near what I had hoped to have done before the (insert four letter word here) lands. I just need to make the truly important things happen, if I can get that list wrapped up, it will be an accomplishment at this stage.

As always, each project has ten other smaller projects attached to it, so in the end nothing gets done like I intend it to. :(

I have the same problem with projects here, everyone spawns a group of there own sub projects and it always takes so long to finish something. I swear I used to get so much done when I was younger, I always thought with age skill and experience would make me faster, that was a myth.

This old nosey man wants to know what you've been up to lately. Just being curious. I hope it's been productive, in one form or another.

I have been chasing my tail with Dad’s business, trying to get the rest of the bank accounts setup, trying to get the direct deposits swapped to the new accounts, and not one thing has actually been accomplished. Dad doesn’t want to be involved, except he has to be, the banker that I usually deal with is out for maternity leave and the new person thinks I am trying to pull something, so dad has been pissy because he has to be more involved than he usually is. Dad is also having me help with his will, also transitioning 35% of the company to his wife (yay!). Lastly, been trying to avoid heat and humidity.

She understood the reality that Dad wants nothing to do with the banking and the only reason I am not a signer on the account is because I don’t want the liability, of course once this gets done, I can transfer money through ACH and that is about the same as signing a check. Me not being a signer will however make his wife feel good about things, even though she wants even less to do with things than he does.

Yes, he was very concerned about the percentages, he thought she was going to be mad she didn’t get an equal share. He now wants to actually have the company live on, not sure what we will be doing, may be a trust. He wants his wife to have a say, but not the final say, so I told him have me be 49.5% and her be 49.5% and then let the attorneys be the tie breaker, I am sure that won’t happen, in the end I just want to makes sure she can’t loot the company.

I think it could work as a trust, but probably not as a regular corporation. The idea is to keep the business going, but also make sure she is provided for. The issue I see is that Dad also wants to leave things to her daughters, but I think he should just leave things to her, she can take care of her daughters, I really don't see her taking care of me or my brother in the long run. The problem is, he looks at them as his real daughters, but I do not feel she looks at us the same way. Dad likes to try and be "fair", but he ends up being biased, so I try not to get too tangled into things when he is in the "will discussion" mode. I have to remind him of what things are his personal things and what things are owned by one of the six corporations, some of those are owned by the main corporation, it makes things difficult for people to understand.

Strouty, my advice is worth less than two cents. Suggest to your father that he take care of his stepdaughters while he's alive with either outright gifts or trust funds. That keeps them out of the will and avoids ignoring them altogether. Your father and his wife can each gift each daughter $15,000 a year. That's $30,000 for each of them every year and until they receive more than $11.7 million (per individual), there's no federal gift tax. He doesn't have to give the maximum but it gets him out of the proverbial dog house. It also might eliminate some of the friction in the family.

If you were smart, offer to take the deal yourself!

Unfortunately there really isn't any extra money, the company is only valuable when an asset is sold or if all "projects" cease, but I do not expect that to happen until Dad is no longer around. I am working on him to start reining things in, we have one customer that will be leaving (no clue when) and when they do, we will lose almost one fifth of the current income with no way to replace it. I expect it to happen in the next year so I have been trying to prepare for it, I would be almost ready except I am still trying to make up for the front end loader and trailer he bought last year.

Had to move the hydraulic tail trailer out of the way so Dad could get to another one of his boats, thought it would be an issue, but a couple of hits with a hammer and the brakes freed up and I pulled it right out.

While I was waiting, I decided to start OMO and move it around, has been sitting for a few months. I drove out no problem, decided to take it up the Hill, no traction, backed up to get a running start and the brakes started to grab in reverse. At this point I decide it is better to just put it back where it was for now, nope. Got stuck in the sand before even getting it back to the original spot, it is out of the way, but I forgot how bad it was without any weight in the rear or any traction aids in. Guess I will need to hook things back up if I am going to make it back up the Hill in the future.

I can't wait for the temps to be back in the 50s and 60s, I can't stand this up and down ****, back to the 80s today after being much cooler for a while. I hate looking like I just went swimming, except I didn't. :(

Driving a big truck with nothing over the pig is always interesting. I drove a '56 Ford F500 as a DD that had nothing out back but the pig and mudflaps. Talk about a challenge to drive in the snow. Once you got going, you prayed you never stopped.

This is way worse than no weight on the rear, it is about 20k on the front axle and under 10k on the rear, any bump makes it interesting, biggest issue is the lack of traction control. Without it, the truck spins easy on hard pack and sand, but with it working, I couldn’t move on flat ground if there was any slime or snow. Can’t win.

I've been reading and enjoying this and then it hit me a minute ago that i should have been taking notes for when we move. I won't come close to having what Stouty does but will have things twenty miles apart and some things that need to be securely stored in between.

Productivity was fairly good, but got screwed up by the F700 knuckle boom, it ran out of propane, usually it will start right up once you swap tanks, this time it didn’t. It acted like I stalled it and we were stuck, ***** because now I have to go back today and try to finish moving everything, assuming I can get the F700 started.FB9B83AA-DA82-4014-92F9-D567C1A839A0.jpegEFDE0A73-E643-4855-BB24-35A8736D18A1.jpeg9BCE41A8-7B1C-4F53-A304-417635C3190A.jpeg8CF7A6A2-98CA-4B19-86EB-2A1B09C5ECCC.jpeg46A2732B-EB13-41DA-9D1C-C97A65D10234.jpeg

The goal was to get tires swapped so the red trailer could go to the auction (two weeks before I can deliver stuff) figured I don’t need it and it will be the first in person auction for this immediate area, so it may do decent money, if not it is gone and I have my tires. The trailers are both off the ground and the forklift is boxed in, so I can’t get the trailers on the ground unless I get the F700 running.
