No don't think anyone has a "normal" winter any more. We used to start getting cold temps in late November, snow in early December, and that's the way it would stay until early March. Now we get wild temp swings all winter long. 2*F one day, 4 days later, 40*F. It actually makes it harder because you can never adjust.
Our winters here in Minneapolis seem to be shorter and shorter. We still get cold in January and the first part of February, but not so much in December. It is currently -9F which is pretty cold. We didn't get any real snow until about three weeks ago. I got 4", but 30 miles south they got 20". The crazy thing is we got a string of above freezing days including a 50 degree day and 90% of the snow melted. Last year we got early snow and cold at the end of October, but then unusual warmth and no snow until Dec 23rd. I managed to completely move and reinstall my solar system between late October and Christmas. No way I could have done that in a normal winter.

When I was growing up in the 1980s winter seemed to start a lot earlier. I sold Christmas wreaths outside the church doors the weekend after Thanksgiving for a number of years. There would already be huge snow banks along the sidewalks. It was not unusual to get snow while selling so we would shovel the sidewalks between masses. One winter they got so much snow in southern MN where my grandparents lived they had to bring in huge snow blowers to clear the streets. We went to visit my grandparents after that snow storm and the streets were like tunnels. You could not see anything out the car windows except a wall of snow.

I am getting ready to go to Massachusetts tomorrow, trying to get at least some of the Stak Racking out of their place. The guy says he will work with me, so I may be able to get two trips done, I don’t know if my body can take it though, basically 12 hours of driving 2 hours of loading, 2 or more hours of unloading and whatever else happens. Probably a 20 hour day.

Why not?

Basement at the Hill, need to chip out a bunch of ledge and I wanted an excuse to get into the MX lineup. I figure California and the new laws will push Milwaukee into the lawnmower market and I really want a cordless mower. ;)

Having spent far too many hours with a jack hammer, I can tell you no one in his right mind looks to forward to running one, Instant back pain for me.

I completely agree, but I like the idea of it being cordless, we will see how good or bad it will operate, specs are the same as a corded one. I will be curious how long it short the battery will last.

Almost ready for bed, going to be leaving about 4 AM, should beat all the traffic.

Second problem, who designs these things? It isn’t like every trailer in this truck’s capacity doesn’t have the same freaking style chain hooks.

The hooks should fit, they just should, period, end of story.

First load ready to roll, it is heavy. Also looks like one trip only today, then one trip tomorrow, then one trip next week when it is dry.

It was definitely heavy, I was slower going than I expected. Looks like Guido will be able to unload everything just fine, but it is going to have to stay out front for now. I can make due as needed with snow removal.

Ron, unfortunately the shelves and uprights will be living outside, the rails, bridge and the hoist assembly will be stored inside. I plan on setting everything up on some wood, but I don't see any other way to store it without losing an entire bay of my shop. The important parts are the ones that will be inside, almost everything is painted and should survive the weather for a while. As I clear space, some of it will come inside, but it will probably be out there for most of January at a minimum. There is way more than I can actually use at the SG, so some may get moved to the Hill. First order of business is to get everything back to the shop, then I will worry about storage......

Then you need another container. At least wind and water tight. Shouldn’t take up much more room than your stack of shelves.

They are the shelves for a fancy self loading pallet rack system.

I have had things far more valuable outside for the winter before, another Conex would be over $4k, so that is a no go, besides if I bought another Conex, I would put other things in it.......
