As an example, right now I am trying to add some hardware and replace some on Gringo (the new cat forklift), I have not found any of what I am looking for, it is all either too long, too short, or the wrong size. Someone had put the air cleaner outside the forklift, it was mounted to the door hinge and I want to install the doors. At least they left the factory bracket, so far it seems like it will fit, I just don’t know when they moved it?!

I hate buying supplies, not much fun or excitement just usually expensive. But I hate it less than not having stuff that I need to finish something.

I agree, it ***** to spend the money, but it ***** more to waste the time. I figure that for every one bolt I buy from Home Depot or Tractor Supply, I can have ten from the distributor.

I got the air box moved and the floor reinstalled, but then I couldn't start it again, I thought maybe I ran out of fuel, so I added 5 gallons, still wouldn't start, I had already put the booster pack on it, but it was getting low, so I went in and grabbed the bigger one. This time it started, I jumped in to move it and it died. I couldn't start it again. I checked the connections, then it started again, I got back in it and it died again......

At this point I figured it had to be something to do with the seat/cover, it took me a minute, but I found that the cable that kills the fuel was the culprit, when you got in it and put your foot on the right spot, it would pull the cable enough to stall it. I rerouted the cable and then it was fine. It doesn't seem to be charging, so that needs to be addressed, the brakes work, but squeal, so I have to drive it around a bit and ride the breaks, the E-brake does nothing, so I have to look into that, both doors have some damage to the hinges, so no doors yet. There are a few other things that need to be fixed, but it is usable as it sits now, that makes me happy.

One thing that is an issue is actually the yard, it is a mess, the previous tenant/employee just kept adding this recalled asphalt dirt mix and now there is a thick pile of it, when it is wet it turns to this mucky mess, when it is dry it breaks apart under load and leaves a mess, generally it is just $hitty stuff, it will make for nice fill somewhere that I don't drive.

I must not be either.

I did order some new tools and supplies, going to have to find a place for them sooner rather than later. I also spent some time looking at the Muv-all trailer, I think making the headboard out of aluminum might be the best solution, it will save on weight and it will look nice as well. I should make it removable, for future what ifs, I need to see what I have for material, I know I have channel and angle iron, but I was thinking box tube would look better. I also want to swap the pony motor over to the drivers side where all the other controls are at, I will have to rework the front box, it is a miserable pig anyways. The door is almost too heavy to open from the ground, then there isn't enough room to easily stand there while trying to open it from the deck. Also need to make some integrated steps and add more chain pockets. I am toying with the idea of adding synthetic rope to the winch rather than cable, but it is not cheap and I am kind of afraid there will be abrasion issues.

I guess my personal debate on synthetic line is over, I was watching a video on it and they were discussing the issue of water and freezing, yup that would be trouble. Steel cable it stays.....

Going to be used for parts, I am stealing the winch, and then I want to remake it into a trailer that the Tru-Hitch can haul, kind of like a detachable gooseneck trailer, that is long term though, way down the ever expanding list. At this point it is a nice movable storage platform. ;)

I did steal the pony motor setup off it and the winch is a very nice 20k pound one, also going to take the hydraulic loading dock leveler rams off it since my new trailer doesn't have them. I am sure there will be other useful parts, but I don't want to make it so I can't move it around the yard.

Synthetic is great unless you are going to have it rub on things, or you are in icy conditions. I prefer it because when it breaks it won't kill you, and I work in a lot of tight spots. But that is why they make both kinds of cable.

Today I have to find a tire and and figure out tire sizes from three different trailers, going to have to shift some wheels around so I can get some trailers sold. Hopefully I can get the extendable flat bed trailer out without too much trouble, it is pretty muddy at the SG right now. Wish me luck.

I have the track crane to pull it if need be, but if it is too muddy, I may not even be able to hook up to the trailer and that would be an issue. I am off to measure some wheels and tires, then I can figure out what my next step needs to be. It isn’t like waiting a couple weeks is going to change anything for me.

I drove Goldfender out of the back 40 at the SG, had to do a bit of coaxing, without a posi rear it would have had to been pulled out. I may get a few other things out as well. I think a couple of the gas burbs have close to full tanks, so I am going to be a millionaire once I get to those. ;)

Of course the blower motor doesn’t work, so there isn’t any defrost or heat, but maybe next week I can pull it out to use it for a little while. Definitely be better than driving the F-350 around all the time.

Goldfender looks pretty clean, but why on earth would you have a 4x2 'Burb in Maine?

Is there an inventory of the Suburbans? How many driveable, how many diesels, how many parts trucks?

They are all parts trucks.

I had to be in New Hampshire at 6:30 AM to look at a couple trucks, then I had to be back by 9:30 to get my real day started.

Right now I am working on getting everything that needs diesel fuel topped off, it has to be done and if it keeps going up, I am making money by doing it now. ;)

You know it's going to keep going up. Big Boil, I mean Big Oil, is going to use the excuse of Ukraine to price gouge us. We've seen these prices before, but I don't think we're anywhere near the top of the curve. We're at 4 1/4 now, but my bet is $6 before the 4th of July.

Well, this morning fuel price was $5.68, this afternoon it was $5.09 and this was a big oil station. I still don’t understand what happened, but heating oil is $5.30 a gallon and there is no road tax, state or federal on it. I think there should be a law that the price of whatever they are selling can’t go up unless they raise the price when they get their tanks filled. To me adjusting the price up every day for two weeks is just gouging.

What caliber, .50

My rifle takes .22 shorts, but my musket takes .75 round ball. 😀
I used to go through a LOT of black powder. Not so much anymore.
Haven’t had a reason to buy ammo in years. 😞

Yesterday was spent prepping for today, I need to move a few trailers, in order to do that, I need the Mitsu and Perk, probably going to need the tire chains too, it is pretty muddy. I brought two loads of stone to the tower site yesterday, I have one more loaded and ready to go for this morning, I haven't loaded up the Mitsu yet, but I will be doing that soon. Then it will be a lot of maneuvering and messing around with trailers, not even sure where all of them are going yet. I know the tilt trailer will be going to the Hill, I have to pull off the tires and rims so they can go on the extendable trailer. My Brother is coming over today for a little bit, he will help me pull the trailers out, then we need to walk the property, he is interested in building a shop out by the tower and Dad wants to give him the land.

That dump truck looks like the right tool for the job, though the box looks tiny for that size truck. 5 or 6yds? I put 3 yds. in the Girlfriend.
