It really won’t be too bad, I had one setup in the past and basically still have all the stuff. It will take a while to get things where they will work for me. It is also not going to be a winter vehicle.

I think I get it. It's strictly a service truck, to be used whenever something needs remote (not at a shop) service, no matter when, but only for service.

Nope, it is for anything I need it for.

;)

I used to use the other truck as my toolbox, if I had to do work anywhere, I hauled it along and generally had any tool I needed. That old truck was a crew cab and was an enclosed utility body, but I won’t need to store all the tower safety gear and rigging, so it should be fine.

Yes, same truck, this one happens to be a 2002 GMC with the fancy grill and headlights. I am going to make it look pretty and run well. Unfortunately the engine is in pieces all throughout the truck, this is also the second one I have had that has almost no rust, except the floors are rotted out just inside the rocker. Should be a relatively easy repair, especially since I have a few solid donor trucks.

I am headed to the SG now to drop off Perk, then I have to drive the Maroon burb home, hopefully the transmission doesn't take a complete dump on the way. As I remember it slips between first and second, but once you baby it past that, it shifts fine again. Tomorrow is going to be an early one, got to beat the frost. ;)

Trying to fix a couple lights on Perk and the Muv-All, succeeded in beating myself up a bit. Tried to fix a ground with a big wire wheel on the grinder, caught the pigtail for the light, hit the back of my hand, then whipped the wire across the side of my face. Felt about as good as you would imagine. Didn't draw any blood to the outside of the skin, but I have a couple places that it has turned red under the skin. Anyways, I still have to swap my blinker switch, again, this one has an issue that makes the high beams turn on when you use the left turn signal. Sometimes you can push down while turning it on, other times it doesn't matter what you do, you get to blind oncoming traffic and piss someone off. The last switch wouldn't run the rear tail lights properly, I hope they don't give up the ghost after a few months of use every time I install a new one, they ain't cheap. I have to go back to the Hill to get that one, I won't swap it out until tomorrow morning, so at least I might be able to get to bed before midnight. :(

I will have to see what the rust looks like once I get the seats out and vinyl up, I really think cutting only the part I need from a good one will be better, but it all depends on where the rust stops.

I made it back with the Maroon Burb, it just has a hissy fit going into second gear, you have to completely let off the throttle, then it shifts and you are good to go. I need to do some digging, if it has to have parts that you don’t need to remove the transmission to replace, I would fix it, but I don’t want to make another Burb non operational at this juncture.

Made it to the bed before midnight, let’s see if I get any sleep, got to be rolling a bit after 6.

I will say that things feel like they are really starting to take shape overall with my mess of projects, I need a couple more weeks of this sideways, slight forward momentum to be sure. ;)

Plasma table was sideways, trailer axles too, even setting up the Lista cabinet was somewhat sideways, maybe more diagonal, but I put off the Blue Burb to do it and I really shouldn’t have. I am scheduled for Sunday to work on the Blue Burb again, so I have to get the shop bays cleaned up before then. I am also going to pick up the military trailer and some of the loader components on Saturday, that will only leave two loaders to fetch, but I probably won’t deal with that until after the auction, I need to start concentrating on that next week.

I just did LED high bays in a warehouse for a customer, they had 400 watt Metal Halide high bays, 25 of them. What a difference it made. Hut looks good now.

Going from no lights to this is awesome, I think it will become a great asset now that it can actually be used after dark, heck even during the day it will feel better. We did the lights all on motion sensors, so no switches, thought it would be best as we have four different doors and you never know what door you are going to use, trying to install switches at each door would have been dumb.

I just got the 3500HD unloaded, I am not going to lie, unloading a non operational vehicle is a RPITA right now. Once I have a wireless control it would be relatively easy as long as you have something to pull while the winch lowers it off the trailer. I even had trouble on the ramp because the tires would get hung up on the square stock that keeps a track machine from going sideways. I had to use a few tactics, once I got the rear wheels on the ground, you could let out on the winch, then pull the trailer forward, but even that was a pain without any remote.

Loading the truck was a breeze, the remote would make that even better, I could steer it myself while pulling it on the trailer. Overall, I am extremely happy with the Muv-All so far and once the mods are done, it will just keep getting better.

Thanks 1G, as for the engine, I probably will just use one that is a bit more complete.

I am back at the SG, third time today!, going to work on a few little projects here, then I have to drop Perk and the Muv-All at the welding shop so they can start doing some of the work to it. This round will be adding D-Rings, replacing the deck plate over the wheels, and removing the lower portions of the stake pockets. Hopefully it will be ready by Tuesday, then I can swap out the air bags and see about adding parking brakes to the trailer. At least it is nice out today, looks like tomorrow is going to be **** and Friday morning too.

For a steel body thats in good shape, what kind is it? Those latches are different than any body I've ever had. Those Michelin tires are worth more than my bucket truck :)

Pretty sure it is a Knapheide body. Front tires are China specials, all look fine for a sticker. The entire truck is really overall pretty clean, minus the floors and interior is nasty. I figure a bit of elbow grease, an engine, some luck, and it will be a nice truck.

I have Korea tires on rear, Firestone on front. I wouldn't trust those china specials on front. Messer handles Knapheide, I swore I would never deal with them again after they sold me a closed door paint job on a 10,000 dollar body.

I really only deal with them when I need something the same day. I do buy used bodies from them occasionally, they will sell some stuff cheap, especially when they are spring cleaning.

I have a mess and I moved almost all my cabinets around, so trying to find anything is going to be very interesting. I am working on getting all the trash and recycling out of the office/house now, usually they pick up earlier, but the last two weeks have been afternoon before they got to us, I kind of like that, especially when I can't always be here first thing in the morning and I don't like to leave trash bags overnight, they tend to get opened.....

I knew things were going too well. :(

Yesterday when I spoke with the Hypertherm rep, he told me that I would have to get the updated calibrations from Swiftcut, all I had to do is talk to the guy and they could update things remotely, great. Anyways, today I talked to the Swiftcut guy and he tells me that I can't use the new plasma cutter on the "old" (2019) plasma table, originally everyone (Swiftcut and Hypertherm) told me that I couldn't use the old torch with the new plasma cutter, so just upgrade the torch........ New cutter is arriving Saturday, now I have to buy another cutter that will actually work with the plasma table. :( :(

I know need to find out what I am doing with three plasma cutters, on top of that, I lost the ability to buy at least five more Burbs....

What is swiftcut doing with their controls that is so esoteric that they can't drive the hypertherm? Also, look into a TD 1-Torch retrofit. I did that on my plasma, the consumables are cheap, available everywhere, and they have dozens of adapters for other brand power supplies. I got a 25' machine torch, the adapter, and a hand torch for like 300. Works with any start system too.

Also, let me know if i can help with the table. I'm way into our plasma table at work. Hypertherm 85 on a 4x4 Arclight Dynamics. I do all the maintenance and programming.

Basically Swiftcut doesn't offer updated calibrations for the newer powermax85 "SYNC". I think some of this is due to changes Hypertherm made, the torch and the power supply are in contact with each other and it knows what is happening as far as consumable wear and other aspects of the arc. I have talked to people that like the new setup, it is a cartridge instead of individual consumable pieces, of course they are more expensive, but you are supposed to get almost three times the life span. I am not smart enough to understand how to make them communicate and I don't really want to reinvent the wheel on this particular project, I have found a new Powermax 85 (non sync) that will work with the existing torch and controls, it is cheaper, but I still have two new plasma cutters. I am working on seeing what I can do about returning the one that hasn't even been delivered yet, but if they charge a hefty restocking fee, I may eat it, I was going to buy another one "later on" anyways. Regardless it is going to strangle the Burb currency for a bit.

I was going to say the 85 has only been out of production a couple of months, there's got to be an 85 on the shelf somewhere. I dont believe 3 times the lifespan on the new consumables. I'd need Jim Colt to come show me in person to have a chance of believing that.

Apparently the reasons is all about the code, they are not writing the code for my plasma table, if it was one generation newer, it would have been fine. It ***** because it was purchased in 2019, but the model was replaced 6 months later, so that is why they are not supporting it.
