I am waiting on the longer "inner cap nuts" for the trailer, they are supposed to be here today, plus it is scheduled for an inspection sticker tomorrow morning at 8 AM, then all I need is that guy that I am meeting to confirm a time, probably be Sunday if it happens this weekend.

I also found 4.25" flares, the one piece in the pictures is 2.25", so an extra 2" should be about perfect. That should be here tomorrow too.

I thought about doing it out of fiberglass, but the rubber actually looks pretty good and adds an accent color. With overnight shipping, it was only $200 for a 25' roll, should give me enough to do one more truck.

I am headed to my Buddy's shop, this way things will be ready for tomorrow, technically if I put the lug nut covers over my new wheel studs (the ones that are too short) the guy won't notice anything is up, then after it is inspected, we will swap everything out. It is a safety issue, basically I don't have full thread engagement on the studs, it is about three threads shy of being flush.

I think it is more about the tread, but I want as much covered as possible, otherwise if it is sloppy out, it will spray all over my mirrors.

I decided to go home, going to try and get some sleep, have to be up early tomorrow, there are a couple things I need to do to the trailer prior to the inspection.

Trailer is inspected, now we need to swap out the inner cap nuts and some lights. Also got the rest of the front studs changed on Perk.

Chuck kept me up again, even overslept my alarm a bit. I hope he can make it through the night tonight, I need some sleep.

Last night I was going to say that I was willing to bet that Chuck would have different plans than for you sleeping, but I didn't want to jinx you.

I can’t leave him in the rabbit cage, he will bite the wire and shake the cage, then climb to the top and try to pry his way out the top, so I put him in one of the plastic totes that have a cover, but he will incessantly scratch at the sides and it wakes me up. Then I have to figure out what he wants to do, poop, play, or eat, not always in the same order. :(

Helping my Buddy with a Jake brake swap from one 671 Detroit to another, guy sold the truck and buyer didn’t care about Jake brake. The Walter is what was sold, pretty interesting 4x4 setup, kind of like a military hummer.

I don't know what year that one is, but since the late 50's to the sometime in the 80's, they were built nearby in Voorheesville.

Last year there were a bunch of old Walters at the Truck show at Owls head museum. Cool old stuff. I think Maine DOT has some still plowing/blowing snow in the County.

This one is pretty old, it was “refurbished” by Walter in the early 80s, then there was some crazy lawsuit because the town was charged over $100k to do it and a new one was less money. I don’t know the entire back story, but that truck has some history.

I can’t seem to find any motivation this morning. I got a little more sleep than the last couple nights, but I feel like I could sleep for another few hours. Chuck is sleeping and probably will sleep until after noon. There are about fifty things I should be doing, but I just can’t get out of my own way. I need to take a shower and see how things progress from there. 🙃

I am at the Hill, still not really motivated yet. I think I may end up over at the Salvage Garage, it has AC and I am not afraid to use it. I need to get some plate glass for the sandblast cabinet window, that way I can finish blasting some more pieces and parts. I also need to do some cleanup, would be really nice to get a bay freed up. Today is a bit messed up as my GF has to work from 2:30 to 10:30 for the community services department, they are having a fundraiser and she has to be there. I wanted to shuffle some equipment around, but I really don’t have a good spot for Chuck in Perk and I don’t want to leave him alone too long. I guess I can move stuff tomorrow, plan is to bring Clark and the new Cat forklift over to the SG and bring back Guido so I still would have a forklift to use at the top of the Hill. Probably just move Clark for now, I have so much going on, I could spend all day moving equipment around, but in reality I still have things that need to be done on the Muv-All before I pick up the Connecticut loader.

I think the heat helped with the lack of motivation, I still haven't gotten anything really done. I am currently trying to figure out what the best way to wire up all the new lights on the Muv-All trailer. I can use the trailer as the ground and run one wire or I can run all grounds from the lights to a buss bar and have a central ground (I am leaning towards this), then there is the wiring itself, I was thinking of using a set of wires dedicated for each light (lots of wire, I know), this would offer the best protection long term, but I saw a video of a guy using weatherpack connectors with doubled up wires and it looks like it would work very well. If I do that, I could then daisy chain the lights making a clean run of wires with a sealed connection that is serviceable without having to cut and splice things. I figure it will take a full day to do the lights, but it should be worth the effort in the end. I also would like to add backup lights and some work lights too, this trailer needs to function well in the dark, I have been known to do a few things after the sun goes down.

This week's short list:

Muv-All Trailer
replace all lights and add more lights redoing majority of the wiring at the same time
Add aluminum pieces to cover deck openings
replace lower winch cable
Make a spare tire mount
add some sort of tool box(es) temporarily
pressure wash

Perk
Add fender flares
add tool box
reinstall pintle hitch
add work lights
install mirrors on hood
upgrade existing mirrors on doors
Pressure wash

Wire the lights individually. Daisy chaining will be a nightmare when a light goes out and you have to chase a short all the way down the chain. Extra work up front means fewer headaches later.

Use a split plastic wire sleeve to keep things tidy. You can pull it off when you need to chase a problem.

Plus one for individual light wiring.

Strouty doesn’t Perk have hydraulics to run the knuckle boom? Can’t you run the trailer off that?

I don't think the individual wires will be feasible, I am running ten lights on each side, plus tail lights, I would need several junction boxes, and probably have 500' (or more) of wire involved. That is the trouble with theory and reality. ;)

I have a few air lines that I am going to reroute as well, simple housekeeping items, got to keep stuff from chaffing. The wires for the lights should be standardized as far as length, so all I need to do is make a couple extra sections and then I can replace them if needed. I will have to layout the lights and see what can go where, getting the wiring to the lights may just be the tough problem and I may be forced to scale things back. The way the trailer is now, there are only three lights on each side, so it is pretty simple, I just don't know where I can branch things off without having to put lots of holes in the structural steel. I am working on a layout now.

In theory I can run the hydraulics off the current setup, but there is quite a bit of plumbing that will have to be done and I had planned on waiting until I install the new transmission, there will be a new PTO, new hydraulic pump, and new tank along with essentially all new plumbing.

When any of those lights dont work the DOT will be writing tickets. Something to be said for simple
