I got two dock plates, a funky cart, and some more bins.

I also took delivery of the HD series the other day, it is rougher than I remembered, but since it is a rare custom made crew cab I think it will still be worth the effort. All the suburban parts are interchangeable except the rear rocker panels. The dump body will go on Bev, it dumps both to the rear and side, needs linkages freed up to side dump, but again it will be worth the effort.

All unloaded, now I have to get the knaack box and a couple other things, then I should be ready to head out. I want to get the Perk and the trailer all loaded and ready to go, I want to take it easy this evening and try and get some rest before my trip.

This is the funky cabinet, it currently rolls around, but I feel like it would be better suited as a built in stationary type cabinet.

We made a template for the mirror holes based on the original hood, then I proceeded to mark it based on the position of the passenger’s side for the driver’s side, then did the same again on the other side, so now there are four extra holes in the hood due to my stupidity. The rest of the stuff looks decent, still need to wire up everything, but the wires are in the doors and dressed up nicely.

And yes, I removed the protective film from the mirrors.

Now I am getting setup to pressure wash things on Perk and the trailer. Also loading up the knaack box with rigging and straps/chains.

Safe trip Strouty, Perk is looking great!
I like the look of those American trucks with big hoods, they look more impressive than the flat fronted truck you mostly see here.

My GF asked me why I put a Salmon colored hood on it, I promptly told her it was municipal orange, not Salmon.

It was a hot day, long ride back, pretty heavy load. I can say for sure that I can’t get the other loader until the transmission gets swapped, it was brutal on the hills. 500 RPMs per shift is pretty hard to overcome with a little engine, 250 is much more reasonable, it will also make it so I can split the lower gears and that will help a ton when starting at the bottom of a hill.

you definitely have some big toys!, that truck with the crane is fantastic. I always wondered, how do you lower the ramps on the back of that trailer? The geometry doesn't seem like it works out so I am sure there is something other than a simple hinge.

Don't forget the hinge point right behind the wheels. That section rises, the ramps swing out, then it all lowers.

That rear ramp will lift 20k pounds, so you can use it for a load, it just has to be able to move up with the tail while folding, or you can roll past, then once flat, roll back onto the tail.

As for the weight, the loader (14k) has extra counter weight (650 pounds) at the rear and all four tires are loaded with gel/foam (800 extra pounds each), then there is the large bucket (2000 pounds) two engines, and my gang box (1000 pounds), I don’t know how much the Muv-All trailer weighs, guessing 15k, but Perk is 22,500 empty. That makes total load a bit over 60k, if the transmission wasn’t messed up, it probably would have been fine. The heat was also messing with me, I usually run engine temps at 185, Perk was pretty much at 200 all the way home, that definitely took some oomf away, the clutch fan can rob as much as 30 horsepower or so.

There were a couple of 25 mph hills, most were 45 or better, but it depends on traffic and how I get started into the hill. I spent about $500 on fuel, still have more than half a tank now, unfortunately I didn’t get a good mpg calculation, I drove down, then used the boom for over an hour, then drove about halfway home, that was 6.3 MPG, not too bad, but that extra hour plus of idling would have probably meant 8 MPG had I actually been driving instead. The F-350 with a trailer loaded was getting about the same mileage.

I never realized how hilly CT is until I went through it with a little 7 litre Cat and a very heavy g/n.
Then there's the Subaru driver at the bottom of the long hill...
just passed you on the way up the other side doing the speed limit while you're trying to build speed 😫

Yeah, I've never pulled anything with a truck heavier than a 1 ton (driven quite a few medium duties empty). The Girlfriend pulled Claudia home with no issues, but there weren't any real hills to speak of.

On Route 84 there are some serious hills that just keep going for miles.

I have a couple errands to do then I should be able to get some things done at the Hill, might have to wait until tomorrow to bring the loader to the SG and unload, I have Chuck duty after my errands are done. Part of me is thinking just dump Perk at the SG, then take the white crew cab back to the Hill, it may be better to do that, but I also have to go to at least two stores for Chuck supplies and possibly some human snacks too. Another part of me is saying go home and go to sleep, my back and neck are kind of sore from yesterday's mercy mission.

excellent, I would not have thought the fuel economy would be comparable to a smaller truck, its a win/win.

I think at one point the F-350 was down to 4 MPG, this is a gas engine though, so not really apples to apples, but still interesting.

I decided to take Perk to the SG, figure if I do that, then I can spend the rest of the day at the Hill with Chuck.
