I made a new smoothie blend, he drank it last night, but snubbed it this morning, he had one old version and one new version, not sure if he just wasn’t hungry, he is back to sleeping now, so maybe. We will find out in a few hours.

Chuck is a funny one, sometimes he likes the hammock, sometimes he doesn’t. Tonight he is on the floor of the cage sleeping in some of his blankets. He doesn’t seem too happy with the new smoothie blend, going to try an unflavored version that is still pea based, but adds quinoa protein too. He did eat some of the pears growing from our tree, they are not even close to developed yet, but I figure anything he eats that is solid food is a good thing.

Strouty, when my parents had the farm, bottle babies don't break the bottle habit very easily. I can tell goats and lambs blatt like crazy when you show up with no bottle and they think its time to eat.

The bottle will be tough to get rid of for sure, I plan on working on it in August. He slept almost all night, from about 11 to 5:45, I just need him to go to bed a bit earlier and things will be better on my end.

Here in Halfassed, the chucks are usually active in the morning and evening. Napping during the midday and sleeping at night. Maybe you're keeping him up too late with your human hours.

How long have you had Chuck? IIRC, in the wild, chucks are fully weaned at about a month n a half. And have their own burrow after a couple months. It sure looks like that when watching mine on the lawn. I think it's probably time he gets put out in a fenced yard and left to his own devices during the day. They're way tougher customers than you give him credit for.

Chuck is well beyond the normal weaning period for sure. I am still figuring out a good outdoor enclosure. As for keeping him up, he sleeps when he wants, then plays for a while, but basically his timeframe is what I work around. When I say he goes to bed at 11, that means when he wakes up from sleeping earlier, he wants to be fed and play, then he goes to sleep again. I would say he is up and at em a good four or so hours out of the day, sometimes longer, but I rarely keep him up, he usually keeps me up. This morning he wanted to play in his cage, if I took him out he raced right back towards it. I kind of go with the flow when it comes to Chuck.

Almost seven hours total sleep, getting better, Chuck just needs to drop the 2 to 3 AM feeding and things would be great.

My Buddy canceled the stump moving for today, so I can do a few more things that I need to get done before next week. Yesterday felt like a flop, I blame Chuck. ;)
I'd just about kill for 7 hrs sleep. Even with a sleeping pill i barely get 3-4. It's hell getting older and still working.

I am pretty sure that between the heat, my CPAP, Chuck, my GF and her bathroom trips, the intermittent sound of the AC, and the ceiling fan I don’t think I get anywhere near that. If I slept for 7 hours straight, bit would be awesome. 😞

I talked to the manufacturer of the bed cooler, they are back ordered and won’t ship until August, so I will have to wait a bit longer for that. 😞

Chuck’s upper level of the cage arrived today and it is assembled, definitely needs some zip ties to keep the shelves from falling out of the brackets, Chuck tends to lift things up and shake things more than a ferret would. I also got the new protein powder, all pea protein and Chuck seems to really like it. Tomorrow is another day, we will see what curve ball gets tossed my way.

Chuck slept until 2 AM, but he just went to the bathroom and ate some greens that were in the cage already, then went back to sleep in his hammock until almost 7 AM. He is sleeping again, so I am going to do some errands and then come back and continue my taking care of Chuck job. This afternoon I have to go the camp with my GF and we are getting it ready for people coming in on Friday, might have to come back tomorrow to finish up any loose ends, but it should be ready to go by Friday. This week has been very warm and it is going to continue to be that way through the weekend at least, I am sure some of you are having much warmer temps than us, so stay cool.

I usually slow down a bit when it gets too hot, unless it is absolutely necessary, I will wait. Tomorrow I have some work to be done, need to get wiring figured out for the office, we ran out of time last week, kind of knew that would happen. I have to do that and deal with a microwave at the Camp, those are the only two important things for Thursday. I am sure it will still take all day.

Don't hold your breath on it getting cooler any time soon. In fact, I'll bet you're not at the top of the temp hill yet. We still have the warmest part of the summer to go yet. At least around here. I won't be surprise if we don't get below 88*F here, other the odd day or two, until September.

It was 92 at about 11AM, supposed to be closer to 100 this weekend. I am doing some laundry, running out of shirts twice as fast as normal and Chuck blankets are building up.

On a good note, I am cooking some steak for lunch, probably cook the burgers too for later in the week. Chuck went outside for a while, he wanted to go inside really bad, so he is in his cage eating greens.

I brought home a couple of oak tree wedges for Chuck, the part we cut out when dropping the tree, bark and all, he is loving it, been chewing at it for the last 20 minutes. I guess I am going to have to start saving up the bark for him.

I may have missed my grilling window, it is going to rain, but it may pass quick, regardless, it will be a combination lunch and supper, or lupper as I call it. Once my GF gets home, we will head to the camp and try and get everything cleaned up and ready to go.

Maybe tomorrow, but only to fix the water pump intake, can’t seem to keep it primed. The microwave may not be too big a deal, seems like they are fairly standardized, so I will have to see if I can find the right one. Maytag makes a direct replacement, but I can’t find any local. It is considered a 30” over the range, but it has an exterior vent, the ones I am finding in stock just recirculate the air.

Most over the range porcrowaves have a little plate you can rip out to make them vent through the wall.
^^This^^

I've installed probably a dozen over the range microwaves and every one of them had the option of venting outside or recirculating via a removable plate, either out the back or out the top.

I don’t want to have to reinvent the wheel, hopefully I can find a direct replacement, I will know tomorrow.
I believe they come from the factory set to recirculate (even when they are sold as vented), even if they have the vent options. It's usually 2 screws to remove the plate, rotate the motor 90*/180*, install Microwave. Probably have to use a new wall mount plate (included) and drill 2 new holes for top bolts to secure it. Its a pita, but an easy PITA

Good to know, this is the first over the range one I have dealt with, I took the old one out so I would know what I am up against.

I didn’t get much sleep last night, not even Chuck’s fault, I just couldn’t get back to sleep. It is already too hot and it isn’t even 8 AM. :(

Kay is close, I have been dealing with some leasing issues and two of the rental properties. I did get to order the emergency brake parks for the Cat V80 forklift, so that should be in the works next week. Today is dealing with the Camp and the microwave, that has to be done by tomorrow at noon or there will be an issue.

This morning, while showering, I had a terrible strain in my neck while washing my hair, it was horrible, in fact it is still pretty bad. I do blame this on Chuck, when he is being fed, I am looking down at him the entire time and my neck doesn't like it, I feel like one of those kids today, the ones that can't look up from their phones....

I am working the massage tool on my neck, shoulders, and upper back and will continue throughout the day, right now I am gathering the trash and recycling from the Hill, then I should be off to get a microwave. Chuck is sleeping at home, but I am sure he will be up and about around 11, so I am contemplating what to do, I don't want to take him with me to the Camp, it is just too hot outside, so I may just have to feed him, then run him around for a bit, then let him wear himself down shaking the cage until he goes to sleep. I feel bad, but between the weather and timing, I think it would be worse to do much else. He does have a double decker cage, with four floors to run back and forth on and he also has plenty to chew on and eat.
