The contractor said this:

“I will be happy to fix it. A couple reasons why not enough adjustment in the legs and also did not think it would be a big issue.”

He called me three times about the overhead sink cabinet, (that didn’t get installed) yet not one word about the most uneven countertop ever??? Truly WTF in my book.

I only responded that the drawers wouldn’t even shut, but I don’t know what I want to say, he does things all the time for Dad, so I need to tread lightly. This can’t turn into another thing that Dad can blame me for “ruining”.

Nice job levelling those cabinets out, can't understand how a "professional" tradesman can leave a job like that but seem to happen more and more.
"not enough adjustment in the legs and also did not think it would be a big issue” what a load of codswallop, he clearly couldn't be bothered spending a bit more time doing a proper job. Shame you have to tread lightly because of his relationship with your dad, wonder if he realises that and this is the reason why he couldn't be bothered.

I can't imagine a "finish" carpenter leaving cabinets like that. Your Dad must not be very picky if the carpenter thought that was OK. The carpenters I know would never leave it like that. They may have asked how much time do you want me to spend fixing it but ... I guess you should have been holding his hand the whole time he was there.

Today was NOT a productive day, I got a few things done, but yesterday burned me out (probably the last couple weeks), I just couldn't get out of my own way. I am going to feed Chuck soon and then head home, going to go to bed early tonight. Hope that tomorrow is better.

It must be something in the water. I didn't get moving very fast today or yesterday. We both might suffering from a little burn out?

I still did a few things that were productive, but my idea of what I wanted to get done today was much grander. I did finish making Chuck smoothies, so now I have about two and a half weeks worth of them ready to go, that will save a bunch of time for sure. It didn’t take me that long, more about having to wait for the cubes to freeze before starting the next batch. I also packed up some returns, almost, ran out of packing tape on the label. I also handled a separate return, they told me to “dispose” of the old stuff and they would send out new. Basically it was 45 pounds (3 boxes) of litter for Chuck, the boxes let go in transit and about half of it must have been on the delivery truck. I am fine with disposing if the old stuff.

The painter got back to me, he says he can finish things up, I am going to live with whatever he can do, there is no room for perfection at this point, “meh, good enough” is going to have to win.

Dad says we got had, but not to rock the boat, he said I shouldn’t have fixed it, but I told him I don’t have time to wait at this point. Another two weeks would put me into a move in time of Thanksgiving, I already expected to be the end of October once and that was 2021, not going to let that happen again.

I already went to the Salvage Garage once today, going to have to go again to get things ready for tomorrow. May even make a third trip, all depends on this rain, it can’t decide what it is doing yet. If it stays the way it is with random sprinkles, I can deal with it, but if it truly rains, it will cause me some grief. I will bet that it will cause me grief after it tells me not to worry. ;)

Motivation has crept away, I have to do a couple things that would be better off with two people, but I don't have two people, guess we will see how it turns out.

I found some motivation, but it's only a partial serving. Maybe take a little time off this afternoon/tonight so you can regenerate?

I think I may need more than that. :(

Oil delivery company called and basically told me they refused to price match and that now the price is $5.19 a gallon. I told them no way, we went back and forth, lowest they would go was $4.79, so much for the price match guarantee. I thought it was high enough at $4.29, going to have to see what happens. Diesel was still $4.80 a gallon this morning, so heating oil should be at least 60 cents cheaper because there is no road tax in it. I am going to stop now before I get myself banned again.

Unfortunately it is at the house, I would never use waste oil to heat a house, there are too many smells and smokes that go along with it, I will use waste oil for both shops though, hopefully I can get that setup this year at the SG.

I have oil in another tank, other than that it is electric heat. I also suspect that prices will go back down a bit, if not I have another tank I can rob it from. I didn’t even use a full tank last year, the house gets really warm during the day due to the front being almost all glass. Between the sun and the Radon, it stays pretty warm. ;)

Don't bet on fuel going down unless demand drops due to recession. Going to be a hard winter for folks if the price stays this high or probably even higher. Tons of firewood dealers up here out of wood as folks are going back to woodstoves or pellet stoves

I look at it this way, I am either going to lose $300 or I am going to save $300, $600 spread, I have enough to get me through probably the entire winter already, it will just take a little effort to move the oil from one tank to another. Less effort than firewood. ;)

The cheapest I could find the oil was $4.49, but they won't honor the price until they deliver, they won't deliver for a week, so basically the price is going to go up and I will still get screwed. I am just pissed off that the company that told me on Friday they would price match anyone, then they locked me in at $4.29 and set the delivery for Tuesday, but call me Monday and tell me that they can't match the price. Had I just gone with a different company, I would have oil in my tank at $4.49 today, so I got double screwed.

Diesel prices are still down, makes no sense, but I can still find diesel for a lot less than heating oil, I guess it is time to stock up on some diesel.

You can't buy a gas station for $150k either and most people don't buy 200+ gallons there at a time.
Most fuel deliveries aren't 200 gallons either. They try to get that but............ Margins in both gas stations and fuel deliveries have increased since Covid. 5 bucks for fuel around here yesterday.

Around here fuel deliveries are 100 gallon minimum, have run into that issue a few times and we had to wait to fill to be sure we weren't going to get charged for oil we weren't actually getting. Also most trucks that deliver around here are closer to the $15 to $20k range, they look like they shouldn't be on the road half the time. Regardless, heating oil generally trends lower than diesel fuel by about 60 cents due to the road tax, seeing the price difference yesterday was probably just a slow market correction. I will see what the prices are this morning and probably cry.

I found a local company that would deliver heating oil for $4.83 that is about the same as the diesel fuel right now, so I am not going to waste my time filling a transfer tank a few times and pumping it out into the house tank. They will hold the price until delivery on Friday. I don't like it, but when I checked, I was under a quarter tank of oil, so I decided it made more sense to just get it now. uoewu4293498098sdhau9r3u9ru9ugds990tq904hfdjsoajfoju943u9ugsad!
