I understand everyone is trying to help, but if the adjusters tighten the brake shoes and in order to loosen them, you have to release the lock, they are going the correct direction, period.

FWIW, backing plates can't go on the the wrong side (e-brake cable hole), and if S has to push in the lever to back off the adjuster, it can't be on the wrong side.

The “work of art” is a nice aluminum adjustable trailer hitch. It has locking mechanisms to keep everything from rattling and slamming around. I ordered the 10” drop because it was the same price as the 8” one, it was about 2” too long, go figure, but they don’t put all the holes in the longer ones. Basically if you get a 6” one, it has all the available holes, 8” one is missing one hole and the 10” one loses two holes. They must figure people that have lifted trucks don’t need those holes? It is kind of dumb though as you lose 4” of adjustment right in the middle of the hitch. I have to have this adjustable hitch because of the difference in height that the F-350 has on my burbs, it looks good, hopefully it works as intended. They do not have a pintle adapter, so I still need something better for that, I am done with the slamming and bucking from my Curt adjustable hitch.

A bit over 7 months.

Got the docks removed today, glad I have a wetsuit, water wasn’t too bad, 55 degrees. Glad it is done. I have a series of meetings tomorrow, so probably won’t have much progress until Wednesday anyways.

I just filled a couple of my small fuel tanks with diesel for 5.96/gallon in York, PA.... This should keep the excavator and skid steer going for a little while....

I'll be curious to see how this diesel situation plays out.

Last year they said there would be a shortage of turkeys..... yeah, no problem with getting a turkey.

I asked because i heard from some of my usual news sources (non-mainstream) that there was <25 days diesel left. So i went digging around on youtube and was finding news clips from local markets all over the east coast talking about it. Then i found a bloomberg clip on it. Seems legit. Still nobody talking about it really though. If true, that'll be a big problem for food.

Not only is there a shortage in Tennessee and surrounding states, but OPEC is saying if we release reserves, it is market manipulation, I almost couldn't believe they would have the nerve to even think that, let alone say it. I just filled my cans last week and both Perk and the Blurb are topped off, luckily most everything I own is old, so I could run off heating oil if I needed to. I plan on topping off the runners on a regular basis so I don't get caught without any fuel.

I think this is going to be a real rough winter for a lot of people.

The supply is tight without a doubt, Maine is screwed as the majority heat with 2 oil. Imagine heating with kero, last year it was over 8 bucks. I'm seeing pellets being delivered all over and firewood suppliers are out of wood. In Maine one needs multiple ways to heat so you don't get caught over a barrel :)

Almost all foreign governments think we are weak right now (and it's right) and are playing hardball.

And i agree, this winter will be very very bad for a lot of people.

I am midwest and always thought the same. I can heat with waste oil, wood, geothermal and propane. I do not like being over a barrel. I'm also looking at making biodiesel. I have a LOT of oil stored.

I have a passive solar home, tight and well insulated. Right now heat pumps are keeping me warm, soon it will be woodstove and oil fired boiler for back up. My shop has a radiant floor tied to wall mounted homemade solar panel. Been in the 30s and 40s at night here and shop is in low 60s with no other heat source :)

Yup, we have to be resilient, I really need to do a passive solar setup at the SG, it has sun almost the entire day in the Winter. The house at the Hill is capable of heating itself during the day as long as the sun is out, but if the sun isn't out or once the sun goes down, the glass ***** the heat back out the front....

I also have my 500 gallon propane tank and now I have multiple propane heaters, so I could use that as a backup if needed.

The part that's concerning is that 6 refineries shut down during the pandemic. I heard a news reporter asking some oil analyst about when can they reopen. The oil analyst response was chilling. "No, you don't understand. Those refineries will NEVER reopen. Ever. " Something about when they shut down an operation like that, it can't be recovered for some reason.

I think the news (both sides) do a lot of fear mongering.... it get's people to watch the news, with the idea that they can sell ads. Viewership is directly related to revenue generation.

That being said, I did reach out to some of my vendors that do a lot of freight moving. They are going to check with the freight brokers to see if there is any insight or merit to the fuel claims.....

This is a hot button topic with what is happening in a week. i.e. we gotta steer clear of that topic in this thread.

Hopefully Strouty's paper work goes well today!!

It was more about meeting with the surveyor and engineer, that part went well, although the meeting should have been back in June. After that I had to amend a lease along with paying some bills, I am about to head out to the Lake to meet with the tenant and figure out the remaining details. I am going to take it easy tonight, yesterday beat me up a bit removing the docks. Thursday I have help over at the Salvage Garage, I am essentially prepped for the pallet racking along the back wall, I think I am going to bring the Mitsu back over there tomorrow, that should force me to finish up things at the tower site. Next week is the first week of the time change, so that will be hell anyways.

Got a bit of a late start today, going to try and get a few things done at the Hill before I head off to the tower site to do some more cleanup. Looks like the rest of this week is going to be nice weather wise, I am going to try and take advantage of it.

Doing research on DST, I had no clue how many states are split by timezones, seems like it would have made more sense to keep things along state lines. I also didn't realize that the railroads were the motivation for the time zones, history is always interesting, not always pretty.....

I may have found a rust free crew cab for the HD series dump truck, pretty local too, they are going to send me some pictures of it in a bit. I will probably pick it up Friday if it is what I am thinking it is. That could kick that project up in the list, would be nice to have a good rust free service truck.

Pallet racking is staged for tomorrow.

The place with the cab is open Saturday, so I can be there at 8 and be home well before noon. It looks very clean, I am pretty excited about noting having to spend a couple days driving to get one in about the same shape. It is even white, so I don’t have to repaint the fenders or hood.

It would probably have been better, guy said they have had it for years, was a wreck, truck was from the Carolinas he thought. I have plenty of parts for sure, will be using parts from burbs as well as the crew cab. I think I have four good white doors, but not totally sure, regardless, I can make a decent looking truck from all my parts.

The HD series were never offered in a crew cab, so these were actually butchers regular cabs made into crew cabs, not sure why they didn’t just buy a crew cab shell after lengthening the frames, but the bodies were cut up and grafted together. You don’t see many that aren’t rusted out, mostly because of how poorly they made the bodies.
