Almost loaded and ready to head to the tower site, will be good to get things figured out, once I have the final measurements, the gate should be pretty easy to finish. I expect it will be next week before I get to it, but at least I am on track. The bulk bags showed up, so I have a place to start putting all the sandblast media, hopefully I will have the pallet racking up today, that will make a huge dent in my storage problems.....

Getting things PROPERLY stored is HUGE!! Good luck.
Still working on things, didn’t get started until a bit after 2 PM so it has been slow going. I think we will have the base done today, then I can pick at things as I go. Important part is to get it as level as I can, eventually there will be a slab is there, for now the railroad ties will be good enough.

Looks like a good start.
We got the base all set, I need some more bolts and a few more hours, then I should be able to start loading things on it. Of course I should cut down the uprights, but it may be easier to do from the second shelf. Plan is to extend the eve and use the rack as support, so it has to be cut at the right angle.

OK, I got it, had to go back many posts.
I have a lot going on and in multiple places, even I get lost. So far I have been at the Hill, now at the tower site, then I have to do errands and hit the SG to get ready for tomorrow’s road trip to get the crew cab shell. Will be another long day, last night I got to bed just before midnight.
Got the tower site cleaned up for this round, I still need to come back and remove all the dirt from the temporary road, but I have to coordinate that with my Cousin so I can have his guys haul the material over to the SG. In order to do that, I need to prep the SG for all the gravel, so the Mitsu has to go over there for a few days and then back to the tower site. Hopefully I can get all this done before it snows. I still have to deal with the Hill as well, I have a good week of work up there. The Mitsu is spending the winter at the Hill, so even if we get snow, I will still be able to do that work.
I took the last upright of the pallet racking down, tightened all the other bolts, then put the wire decking on them. I took some measurements before it got dark and it looks like I am going to end up with two five foot tall openings, I need to get some more accurate ones as I may be able to get even more than that. I feel five feet will work for most things I have on a pallet, I may do a couple bays that have shorter openings and bigger ones, just need to lay things out and see what makes sense.

Now I have a bit of a what to do next issue. I don’t want to waste daylight, but everything that I need to do is screwed up in some way. Clark has an issue with the steering, making it almost impossible to use unless working in a wide open area. We are hoping that it is the hydraulic filter, but in order to find the correct one we have to remove the old one, built into the bottom of the hydraulic tank. I knew this had to be done, I had been delaying it, but now it really needs to be done. I was thinking about swapping it out with the Cat V80, but that won’t be as useful at the SG right now, there is a lot of stuff way out back that needs to be shuffled.
I guess I will keep puttering on the pallet racking, I need to get the shelf heights figured out as well as the uprights cut down.

I think I have half of the racking figured out, going to put the shelves by the windows up a bit higher so I can try and get sunlight inside the office still. Then if I do 66” wide racking it will fit two of the Knaack boxes, then I end up with a narrow rack that I think I will make into vertical storage, it will allow 10 foot pieces without an issue. Also looks like I can use the space behind the racking (between it and the building) for longer steel or whatever storage. I am working on getting my first shelf up next, then I can start to mess with the roof line and my upright cuts.
Unloaded the clean crew cab, then went looking at my burbs, the one from Alaska has almost white doors (gold lower two tone) and they are 95% perfect (one rust spot up by the door handle). The hood is good as well, that will be the donor for most of the hard parts, then I either have to take apart one of the diesel burbs or pull the actual crew cab apart, not sure what I am going to do, but you guys and gals will be the third to know about it…..
Strouty, What are you going to put on those racks? You going to take roof soffit apart and scab rafters on to existing? Weld a piece of channel on the racking uprights to rest the scabbed rafters on?? How much gravel under the railroad ties? Frost movement?
There is a decent amount of gravel, then sand under that, we dug out over two feet of ****. I was thinking about making the extension "flexible" just for that reason. Long term plan is to move racks, pour slab, extend roof more permanently. The only way I am going to find out is to find out......
The racking is going to be for miscellaneous stuff that doesn't need to be inside, but I don't want on the ground either. Things on a covered rack seem to hold up very well even if they get wet, the air flow lets things dry.
I was thinking about screwing some PT to the uprights to use as an attachment point, then I have some angle iron I can use across the front. I think if I just make a complete roof that matches the slope of the current roof, but it will be connected with some rubber, something flexible. So there would be no gap, but no real connection either. Or I just say eff it and connect it into the current roof and cross my fingers....

I may have the 5 ton sold today, guy wants to come and get it around 1 PM, we will see. I need to swap in two good batteries, the ones in it are junk, may grab a tail light off the one that Dad is going to use as parts. I have a feeling the guy may not even take it, but I have to deal with the batteries regardless and the tail light would be smart to add too.
I am also going to try and move equipment around this morning, I want to try and get everything out of the tower site, hopefully my GF can give me a ride or two, not enough drivers and too many vehicles!

Waiting on the "buyer", they said 1PM, it is now 2:30PM. He says he is on his way, not sure where from, but another hour and I have to go and get Perk and the Mitsu and he will have to wait for me. I got the batteries swapped, so it starts on its own without an issue now. Funny part is they are 2011 batteries, started the dump truck up in the winter with no issues at all, the bad ones I am replacing were 2015s. Only thing that I wish I could have done is stop and get wiper blades, the ones on it are pretty bad, no, they are terrible, maybe even worse. I need some for the dump anyways, just wish the guy would give me an ETA, oh well, this is the new "buyer" type.
