It has been raining this morning, but my forecast still says cloudy with rain starting early afternoon, go figure.

I am OK, I was planning on office and inside work anyways, I just fixed a leaking faucet at the house, now I have to go and get greens to make more smoothies for the Chuckster. I am going to try and balance today with paperwork and some random tasks to break it up, I am hopeful that this will allow me to get needed office stuff done, but still make some progress on the other fronts. Sometimes I just sit at the desk and do computer/paperwork for hours and it gets me demotivated overall, plus my back doesn't enjoy it either.

My day job is also a desk job, and I also try to get up every hour and walk around. It helps with blood sugar control as well (Type 1 Diabetic), and gets my steps in. I notice that my knees and hip hurts when I get up after sitting for too long, so walking every hour when possible helps with that too.

I work in public service- full time- and leave an old family farm stead every morning. Currently in an "on call" position, so... I may start working on something on farm, but phone calls, emails, texts and ****.. work, sleep, meals, over...
My project list is backlogged... and flat out, sometimes the "home work" takes a definitive back seat to the day job- which it shouldn't because that's my business so to speak.
Office stuff... I have an "aversion" to paperwork.... I despise it.

I am lucky that I am not really on call, although if my Dad has something he wants me to do, I generally take care of it fairly quickly, otherwise he tends to get involved and makes more work for me later. I don't mind the paperwork, it is my lack of office that *****, yes, I am still not moved into the office. Once the flow is better for the paperwork, I will easily be able to get things done without tripping over boxes or having to look through stacks of paper.

The office needs to have finishing touches done, paint and drywall touch ups, then a few more things installed on the walls. I don't want to move more stuff in, because it will never get done, this delay has only been because we have had way too nice weather and I have been outside. I feel like I wouldn't have been able to do any moving in either way, because I would have been cleaning up the yard the entire time, seems like a good enough excuse, right??

Working from home is not all it is cracked up to be, it is way too easy to take advantage of the freedom you get and end up not getting anything done.

Apparently the starter that was "in stock" was not, I even called to confirm this before ordering it, they can't even tell me if it will ship out this week. I am not happy, now I can't get the local one delivered until next week and no one else stocks it, or if they do, the overnight shipping is more than the starter. Guess I should have known it was too good to be true. If it is still in limbo tomorrow, I have to decide if I am going to wait or order one from somewhere else.

Other than that, I have gotten some paperwork done, I made Chuck's smoothies for the next two weeks and I am currently working on invoices so I can get paid for work I have done. I did a bunch of little things that also added up to big progress on the paperwork front, still plugging away at things. I want to go out to the shop so I can start cleaning the Porta-Vet unit, then I can start putting things in it and making it useful.

The Hill just lost it about an hour ago. Chuck wasn't happy about the flashlights or no dinner.......

So far it is still on at my house, we will see how that lasts.

My plan was to spend about an hour at the desk, then half an hour or so doing something physical, then back to the desk for an hour or so. I have a timer on the desk, so hopefully I can stick to it.
Being a software guy, I took a different approach.

Wrote a little program and scheduled it in Windows to pop up a big reminder on my screen every hour - "GET UP AND MOVE!!"

There are a few starter/alternator rebuilders around me not like it used to be though. One I know is good at it. Hope you had everything bolted down outside last night, the wind was howling.

Internet is out at the Hill, but power was back on around midnight according to the text alert I got. The stupid nest thermostat had shut down because it didn’t have power (but has a battery), so when it came back on, it was set to 65, Chuck had a nice warm evening, he slept in his outside bed. I have is dialed back to 55 now, so at least my wallet isn’t hurt too badly. Luckily it wasn’t super cold last night, still probably burned 5 times the oil I usually do.

I am headed to the Salvage Garage to start some more earthwork, my GF is going to bring me the Hyster starter once it shows up so I can get that boat anchor back together. Fun stuff.

We still have one alt/starter rebuild shop that I know of in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. I just used them last year to test and rebuild an alt/starter for a 1967 Pontiac GTO. It's like walking into a time machine when you go through the front door.

I don't know how far south you are in Maine, but there is a great starter/alternator shop in Brentwood NH. Auto Electric Services.

Thanks Banshee, I will have to add them to my Rolodex.

Been working on the dirt at the SG, had one load already delivered, but I didn’t have a good place to put it yet, so I will have to work my way to it. At least now I have a cut ready to receive the good stuff. I also am going to get several loads, basically haul all day.

Three loads so far, I think we will be able to get six loads, a bit over 100 yards. The dirt I am removing is either sand or sandy loam with 3/4” stone mixed in, it will make good fill for somewhere that I don’t need to drive. I am figuring it will get brought to the Hill once I have Perk setup for the dump trailer.

Maybe I missed it, but where are you putting the sand/dirt that you are taking out? Is it just getting piled somewhere for now?
Looks like you're getting good use out of the 6x6 truck!

Dirt is piled out back for now. As for bringing it to the Hill, this would only happen if I make the deal to own it, otherwise I won't waste my time and effort. I really don't think I will need much of it at the Salvage Garage, I only have an acre and most of it is already covered with something.......

That is the plan, although I am probably going to get over ambitious, there is a huge hump that I would like to remove, would make plowing and parking way easier. I would like to make everything slope steadily away from the shop, the issue is, I have to move everything on the side, most of it is stuff that doesn't run and my help is sick and can't help tomorrow. :(

I am going to see what I can do, the Mitsu should be able to move everything without too much trouble, who knows.

On another note, I volunteered to go to NJ to pick up another truck with my Brother (for him), that will most likely happen on Saturday, so another day down.

The starter arrived, I ran out of time to install it.

The truck is from Florida originally, it was in NJ for one year and it was only driven 800 miles, it sat for the winter. I think it is going to be a nice truck, minus the engine, but my Brother doesn’t put many miles on his trucks.

No outboard bearing on that 'new' starter.

I thought the same thing, but it is pretty substantial around the main body.

Or it could be there is something missing and I screwed up, we will find out tomorrow.

Yes, gear reduction, it was an option for this forklift so I figured I would give it a shot.

Late start this morning, had to pick some things up, now I am at the Hill, have a few things to do so I am ready for tomorrow’s road trip. After that I am off to the SG to move dirt again and install a starter on the Hyster.
