Buying too much stuff is definitely the cause of most of my grief, organizing it is the second part. I know it is an issue, so I am working on it, when you have a mountain to move it just takes a while and I may have a big mountain...

It is wayyyyy colder than expected and I am under dressed for it. I am freezing and the Mitsu needs the door open for me to run the controls fully this is due to a linkage issue (not an easy fix otherwise I would fix it). The army dump has minimal heat too, so it isn't like that is going to help. I just spent the last hour in the Mitsu, I am inside taking a warm up break, except it is cold inside too. I have the heat set to 55, but it only feels warm for the first minute that you step inside. :(

I will keep plugging along, I need to be here this afternoon, I have the army 5 ton tractor in the online consignment auction and from 2 to 4 is the "preview". I will be curious to see how many people show up, it is already over five grand and there is seven days left. I have my fingers crossed, would like it to do more, but if it got me five grand at this point I would be happy to have it gone, one less thing to deal with this winter.

It will sell, it is an auction, they break legs if you don't pay.

I am taking a break from the dirt, I have to trim some branches and then I think I am going to take down a couple trees. I should have taken the pine down, but it is buried now, so I will just wait until I move the dirt again.

I haven't moved any of the stuff in the way yet, going to have to get on that soon, I am trying to make room for things, the good thing is that tomorrow there will be time between loads of gravel, so I will be able to shuffle things at that point a bit too. This would be a good day to have help, but I don't have any friends. :(

Too bad we all live so damn far apart. I'd love to come up there to meet you, Chuck, lend a hand, and finally try to understand the scope and breadth of the "collection."

On the way home, I'd pass through Indiana to link up with @86turbodsl and worship at the waste oil furnace altar, and then down to Arizona to see @TimeWarpF100 and take a ride in the Raptor powered F100, perhaps with a detour to the NW to help @RivennHewn drag some logs out of the channel and saw 'em up. I may have missed a member or two, but it would be a fun road trip.

This is what i meant by doing in summer (next summer) This way you can come up with a plan (drawing, napkin or whatever), save for plan, start plan and finish plan in a timely manner before tackling anything else.

If you read this thread from the start(and you would be a brave man to try) you would realize that you are flogging a dead horse. I'm sure that Strouty agrees with every word you say but his brain just doesn't work that way.

Just do the same as the rest of us and embrace the madness:oops:

What thread are you posting in? I think you made a mistake. Plan something and finish it in a timely manner before tackling anything else????

;)
Funny thing is, he has 18 posts and I think every post is telling you that everything you do, is wrong.

I spent the last ten minutes at the SG looking for the weatherpack kit, not visible to the naked eye......

I have to order some more stuff anyways, I have run into trouble not having enough wiring and test equipment, it has either been a show stopper, an expensive NAPA run, or a trip to the Hill, I can't have that happen, it kills productivity and just pisses me off.

It is colder than I want it to be this morning, but we are supposed to be in the upper 40s most of the week, so I can handle it, i think.

Today is move yo $hit day, lots of stuff, lots of moving, not even sure where everything is going yet. I was working on the gravel that came from the tower site yesterday, if I finish moving that, I will have room to park some bigger stuff, just need to get it done.
I know where my few pieces of weather pack stuff is but only because I used it the other day to hook a battery to my solar pump. So I could find out my problem was too big of weep hole for the pump output under current light conditions.

Right now everything is scattered between two places twenty miles apart, tool boxes are broke down and buried under other things and aren't where I want them to be when everything is done.

I am not too tired, but I definitely wish I had gone to bed earlier. I think I finally laid down at about 11, could have been worse for sure.

The first load of gravel should be arriving soon, I am trying to wait until 7 to break the silence outside, I try to be a nice neighbor as best I can anyways. Poor Chuck, he won't get breakfast this morning, but he got plenty of food o a plate, if he is hungry, he will eat it. I need to be out of here somewhat early, I have a meeting tonight at 7 and I would like to get Chuck fed before leaving for it. I think I can get everything setup so that tomorrow there will be a place for the gravel to be dumped while I am gone, going to bring in a lot and just get it over with. If it has to be stock piled until later it is still going to do its job and then I don't have to wait for delivery.

30 minutes in and the Mitsu blew a hydraulic line.

Then the hoarder in me remembered that there were some hoses that I thought went to the Mitsu (found while cleaning Quonset hut), low and behold one of them was the hose that blew, brand new wrapped in a plastic bag with caps. Took about 15 minutes to be back up and running. Still has the Mitsubishi tag on it.

Man, I love moments like that! Unfortunately, they are often few and far between for me. Last time it happened was a brake line for my 68 GTO convt; I had one saved from a previous project.

BTW - nice Knipex pliers/wrench - I have a few of those as well. Good piece of gear.

Strouty -- Nice win on the hose!! perfect length.

I have a couple of hoses on my small bobcat 320 excavator that look way worse for wear (outer rubber is all degraded), but so far they are holding up. I do have a leak near the filter I need to resolve tho... I haven't dug into it yet, but it is in the shop waiting for me.

Today is sunny and 50 degrees, I have had to take layers off.

Getting there, well for the first section, I am going to have to stockpile the gravel and then move it again, there just isn’t enough room or time to do it the right way.

On I good note, I only won three of the four trailers I bid on…….

Good catch on the in stock hyd hose. I generally find an "in stock" part or anything just after buying a new one.
I've not seen the Dodge crain truck before. Is that the one I think I heard you mention that you're brother had?
Your old man had some really cool unique trucks. 👍

The trailers are just some cheap reel trailers, might be useful, might not. I probably won’t pick them up until next week.

I am at the Hill getting ready to feed Chuck, then I am headed home, the last few days are catching up with me.

While it is technically a Dodge cab, it is an FWD. a lot of companies used the same cabs, kind of interesting seeing the different noses they build that fit the cab.

I don't know, I bought them on a whim, what's new, right?

I think one of them would be a good start for a quick Porta-Vet conversion. I know I do not like having my little dump trailer *******, I have needed it two times, but I don't have a good way to unload the thing at the Hill and I really want to get it cleaned before I take it out of the shop. Supposed to rain tomorrow and I have rescheduled gravel for Thursday, so maybe I can get it cleaned out.

I paid less than what you would pay for one cheap trailer for all three. One has a single wheel 10K axle with 17.5 tires and air brakes, that one was the cheap one, I paid $200 for it. The one that I think will work for the Porta-Vet box is an 8 lug single tire axle. The other is a tandem 8 lug single tire trailer that has two reel locations. I think there is potential for everything.....

Yes, they all do have potential -- potential headaches, potential money pits, potential to cause unnecessary stress, etc... ;)

I was just thinking of something -- your girlfriend -- is she an enabler or does she try to convince you to dial back a bit? I'm just wondering if you ended up settling down and starting a family if that might help decrease the number of purchases. Example - when I got married, I think I had 9 classic cars (mostly projects). That was 12 years ago; the classic car total these days is 6, and if I was still single, I'm guessing I'd have about 20 cars, 3 or 4 trailers, 4 or 5 storage units full of classic cars and parts, etc.

She is less of an enabler, but it isn’t like she tries to control things, we are two separate people until we aren’t.

I suspect that once I get a handle on things I will dial up the projects, right now I am actually dealing with more infrastructure than projects, I suspect I will be dealing with this for another few years.

Good luck dealing with it :) Does the town get on you for all the unregistered vehicles you have parked? I can have 2 unregistered vehicles but its residential I assume you have commercial zoning? Of course in my little town no one says **** about it unless you piss someone off. Then you get code enforcement sicked on you :D

That crane truck is too cool! Does it see much use?

The city doesn’t bug me, but I know they eventually will, I am just waiting for the day. Technically the shop is grandfathered commercial, it is even taxed commercial.

Bobcat, it doesn’t get used right now due to several leaking rams, it is on the list to fix, but not a priority yet.
