I am at the Restore yesterday making my weekly run, checking the bin of sockets for any new additions besides the usual imported ****. Sometimes I find a handful of snapon for 25 cents a piece but not this week. Next to me is a guy looking at the shelf full of power tools. I see him pick up a Milwaukee portable band saw. This thing is like new. Out of the corner of my eye I watch him ponder a bit, and look it over. I see the price tag- $20! I give him his room and watch as he plugs it in. Purrs beautifully. He ponders some more as I wait for him to put it back on the shelf and continue about his business. But alas, it was not meant to be. He proceeds to walks over to the cash register and out the door with it...

At least your Restore has tools. Ours has nothing but junk and it is way overpriced. I have never seen a single tool in there.

That stinks! Those are the worst, because you were so close to getting the deal yourself!

Not to hijack, but I had just had a similar story:
I went to a swap meet this morning, and behind one of the tables was a mint condition, later model Atlas drill press. Price was $150, but it was marked sold. I was pretty torn up about it, since I'd really like a dp and I live in the city where Atlas was located. But I ended up going back later in the morning to take another look at it, and alas, made in Taiwan! That made me fell a lot better!

I had just the opposite happen to me, luckily. Was walking the aisles at a swap meet when the guy in front of me reaches down and picks up an 18N 3/4" Jacobs ball bearing chuck on a MT shank. He asks the seller how much? "$5." My heart sank. The guy looks it over and PUTS IT BACK DOWN! I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough. It's in the tailstock to my lathe to this day, works awesome. I still wonder how cheap the first guy needed the chuck to be to buy it.

Silver Heels,
You should have chased that guy down and offered to double his money.

I had something similar happen to me about 10 years ago. Northern Tool had a brick and mortar outlet store in Hudson Wisconsin. I walk in one day and there is a big sign that says "HALF OFF ALL IN STOCK POWER TOOLS". So I immediately walk over to the power tool section and it's full of cheap, no name import junk..... and then I spot a MILWAUKEE HOLE SHOOTER. It was in brand new condition and was the only Milwaukee power tool in the entire building. I carry it over to the counter and ask the old guy if this was also included in the sale. He grabbed it from me, set it on the counter behind him and quickly said no, that's not included. I said "why not, the sign says all in stock power tools, and it happens to be here in the store, in stock?" That's when a young kid working the counter grabbed the drill off the back counter and handed it back to me and said "yeah, it's included in the sale" The old guy looked really pissed off like he wanted to buy it for himself but I beat him to it. Anyway, I got the Milwaukee Hole Shooter like pictured below for $75!!! (half off the $150 sticker price, which was already discounted from full price) I quickly paid right there for the drill, carried out to my truck, then went back in a shopped some more. I wanted to make sure it was locked in the truck before they changed their mind. lol
