I have been lurking on here for quite some time. I always like working on projects and always wanted to have a specific place to do them.
We moved into our second home last fall. We wanted to a bigger home from our previous (1200sqft) and found this home over 1700sqft with a garage including a detached 1000sqft garage. 20x50.
It was renter and needs work. The shop/shed/garage has seen better days as I don't think it was taken care of during the renting phase.
Its all wired up. It was built around 1989. The garage door end has a flatter floor finish. 2/3rds of the floor then goes really wavy no very flat. Not sure what that is all about, but I can deal with it for now.
It has a couple Shaw Walker desks that I'm on planning on refinishing. Both are leather/vinyl/rubber (not sure) topped. I do not know if I am going to keep them or sell that afterwards but I do like the midcentury flare.
It has a Reznor 165,000btu furnace that's been converted to propane. There are 2 100lb tanks sitting outside. I am not sure if it runs as I have not had time to really get it working, but I' d like to have it going by this upcoming winter.
Walls are sheet rocked for the most part (besides the french door area) but some need replaced as there are holes from critters and just really dirty. Walls are insulated with r-25. What is really nice is that garage side has an attic built for storage. Only bad thing is at some point i'd like to get a max jax lift and would like to look into raising the ceiling height.
The big concern is drainage. You can see from a huge snow melt from the winter that water just floods the garage door area and some other parts.
The garage door has rot on the bottom so I temporarily got a new strip and spray foamed the corner to keep the water out. I need to degrade the front of the garage and get some gravel to help drain the water.
This is how it sits now with a lot of home renovations are taking all of my time.
I have been using it for working on my vehicles. I am hoping in the future to get everything organized to be able to have workspace/hangout/gym.
I scored over 32 florescent fixers from an auction and did not anticipate how many I got for under $15.
I started to throw them up on one side.
The idea is to have 3 rows of 4 on the garage door side. I have (4) 4 bulb fixtures for the middle where I would like to have a hangout/ bar area with track lighting and then the back part to finish with the same fixtures like the garage side.
They are the ones that connect to one another.
I am hoping to keep this updated regularly as it will motivate me to get things done (that's the idea anyway). I do have a lot of house renovations I am working on so if anyone is interested in that I can share those too.
