Has been under maintenance due to a system upgrade this weekend.

I have my hopes up for a new, more user-friendly, and browseable site.

Fingers crossed.

Happens once a month or so. Doesn't mean the UI is being touched, usually its just price adjustments or a product addition. Their site has really become awful though. In addition to the terrible categorizing someone did the new product adds to the catalog are now delayed by months and the new product releases section has literally been the same for a year.

Yeah I hope this means their website is better. IMO their website *****. No pictures and fewer descriptions... At least they added a nice digital catalog. That's made my life easier because you can click on stuff out of the catalog and it'll take you to the product page.

I sure hope it is better. The older version a few years ago was decent but this latest one is horrible.

Their website *****. Many products not even on the site. I used to check out their new product section all the time and have bought products because of it. Like has been mentioned it's been a year or longer since it has been updated.

You'd think having a good website would be a priority when you are a company selling a product.

Seems like there's items missing, like 3/8 drive flex heads. Look up flf80 on the site. Wonder what that's about

I think it's pretty shameless that a company charges sometimes ridiculously high prices for a product under the assumption that your paying for better service, yet can't invest any money in providing that very service through a propper website.

Their site is terrible. The truck guys know it too. I typically hate paper these days but I grabbed a catalog from my guy the last time he was around.

The old site, however generic, was easier to navigate.
It can still be accessed, but it is not updated, here:
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/catalog.asp

Thanks for the link. I had it on my phone but lost it and if you just type in buy.snapon.com it automatically puts you to the new site.

I prefer the old site and knew it well. I am learning the new one and it has some nice features but it does make you work for info.

I have found some items with the new site, and then a few days later went to order and they weren't there. Waited anywhere from 12hrs to 3 days and they were back.

The search is as bad as Matco's at times.

Seems the way to go. To be honest a love having paper catalog books from my major tool suppliers. But you would think these days they all would have functioning phone apps that were complet with live prices and deals.

Everyone is aware you can order directly from the digital catalog by clicking on the image of the item you want to purchase?

It opens a page with the description, price and button to place the order. Very easy to do.

I wish I could get a paper catalogue from Enco. I think if their catalogue was written on stone tablets it'd still be better than their website. It is absolutely horrorfying.

It's very sad for someone to have what are arguably the worlds best tools on what there is no doubt it one of the worst web presences.
The board of directors should be strung up.
That site should have the coolest dis assembly instructions and drawings of everything they make and thousands of YouTube or even self hosted videos.Get rid of the ****** stock photos and hire a Food Network or Jewelry-Wine_Cigar photography team to get in there and get at it.
Absurd. SK takes the win for absolute fail with that flip book. Reminds me of something from 1996

SK is by far the worst, I could have designed a better website. It's makes the Snap-On site look positively cutting edge by comparison.

Yes.

Browsing their site is terrible. Finding anything can be a chore. Want an extreme green soft handled #2 phillips? Click here, click there, then sort through 2000 items to find it...

Want to do it on an iPad? Some of their site doesn't work. You can't click on the little + signs on the left navigation pane to drill down further.

I'm pretty sure Snappy doesn't give two $hits about their website. Direct sales are not the business model. They make a show of it, but they don't spend a lot of time or money on it. I have no proof, but I would wager it only brings in a tiny amount of money. Quite trying to force your desires on the company. They have a model and it works for them.

Don't like it, fine buy from some one else.

MACs isn't near as bad as it use to be and their search actually brings up new items too. Snap-On takes the cake for a utterly **** browsing system. Says something when its easier to open a second window with a flash version of their catalog to locate items.

Snap-On also gets the award for actually hiring someone to downgrade their site.

I know they have trucks to sell tools but that website leaves something to be desired. In the modern world you need va good website.

Snap On has a nice downloadable catalog, similar to Starrett's. Whether you buy Snap On tools or not, I highly recommend downloading it.

It includes detailed specifications of their tools, providing tool buyers with a way to easily compare what they are buying against Snap On's product line. How long is a long pattern wrench? How shallow is a shallow socket?

It includes application data e.g. what specific cars, and applications a specialty tool is designed for. Can be a good idea to search your vehicle to see what specialty tools are out there or what you might need. I didn't know some Mercedes and BMW had 14mm spark plugs. I only have 5/8" and 13/16" plug sockets from Sears.

Last, the tool sizes included in the sets are chosen based on what sizes auto mechanics need most. You can use the sizes included in Snap On's sets as a guide for what you are liable to encounter. Examples include "specialty" tools (what size Secure torx will I need? What about triple squares?). But you can also get a sense for basic tools. Do I need a 26mm impact socket? Snap On makes one, but doesn't include it in their sets, which tells you something. They don't make a 28mm or a 31mm, 33, 35, 37 impact sockets.

Since I don't have a dealer anymore I just got a free catalog from the website. Although the catalog seems to be missing some things available on the website it has majority of things. That way if there's something I want to know the price of all I have to do is search the part number and get it. It's a lot easier than going through all the nonsense and categories just to locate something. Paper catalog is way better. Plus it doesn't cost a thing.

How did you get a paper catalog for free from the website? From what I saw it looked like they are available to purchase for $5.

Just a few months ago I was on the website and found it. I added it to the cart and it was free. It was the only thing in the cart too. Didn't have to pay shipping either. I thought it was still free. Was last time I looked anyway.

It is so difficult to find anything in SO website. You have to spell exactly the correct word (SO way of calling it) before it can find anything. It doesn't seem to have a lot of intelligent. If you type in swivel socket, it can't find anything. You have to use SO term "universal socket" (can't misspell it). Ironically, the company (HF) that sell the cheapest tools has the best website. It is easy to find stuff. It has large colorful picture that you can zoom in. It provides much more spec (like type of metal) than others. If there is a manual for the product, you can download the PDF version. You don't have to spell correctly and use the correct term: It can make an educated guess.

I have a paper catalog, look up item number, enter # in web site to get price. It`s the only way to use the web site without driving you crazy.

I heard the same people who created healthcare exchange state websites designed the Snap-on site.

Their website is HORRIBLE. The thing I hate the most, is; say you are browsing, clicking thru the drop down menus, and you want to take a closer look at one item, you click on it to see the info. Once you are done looking, hit the back button and it brings you back to the front page! While it shoudl bring you back to the last page you were browsing.

This is also the thing that bothers me the most, wish they would just bring back the old site.
