uhhh, like taking a 4.5" grinder to a 17mm China wrench to make a 18mm because the only 18mm I own is in the box at work

but but but, this is a Dodge, what's up with this metric stuff anyway?
shocks were 13/16, bumper is 18mm, why do they torment me

Using a torx bit to remove a hex cap screw with a stripped head?

you can never have too many tools

Are they stripped in the first place though? I can't begin to count how many hex socket caliper pins I have seen people damage by hammering a torx into them. Just the other day on a protege actually.

Successful and only a little inappropriate, I think:

Had to remove an EGT sensor on an Audi 2.7 biturbo. Those who have worked on these know access is very limited. I used a Wrightgrip 17mm open end to latch onto the sensor, but couldn't get enough leverage to break it loose.

But I found that the female end of a 12" 1/2 extension fits perfectly on the side of the box end of that Wright wrench. Whacked it with a rubber mallet and had myself a homemade impact driver that loosened up the EGT sensor with no trouble at all.

It was the radiator cover screws on a tree chipper. The screws were so worn out a hex key would just slip and not turn them. Stuck a torx key in and it held well and they came right out. Sure beats having to cut a slot in the head....

Using a Dewalt 18v battery with jumper wires to open electric windows in the junkyard. Very handy for opening Bronco tailgates. It works surprisingly well.

A tip from a 4in1 screwdriver (Anyone else still call them a Jamestown screwdriver?) in a 5/16 ratcheting box wrench as an offset screwdriver. Or a 1/4" tip, for whatever type fastener, in a 1/4" ratcheting box wrench for a tight space.

Having seen the insides of cordless drills & batteries, I don't use them in place of hammers. There is too much that looks like it could be knocked loose in there.

A telephone type Tone Generator to test speakers, connections, determine which wires go to which, etc. The speakers "sing" like the inductive amplifier normally would.
