Those RC has to be 38-35years old, as I was in my late single digit age when I got them. The wild cougar was a Christmas present I got from my parents and then I got the Jumbo Van with the Christmas money right after Christmas so I would have something for my friend to play with while we took turns with the wild cougar. If I recall right, there is a plastic wheel that is slipping on the axle shaft of the wild cougar. Otherwise they are both in playing conditions.
I should bring them down and test them out as it’s been a few years since me and the youngest played with them.
Thats awesome, I know my first car from there was Ferrari Testarossa, I think it was dead 2wks after Xmas, then I graduated into the realm of Kyosho with the 7.2v batteries and chassis that had replaceable components. I still have my 57" deep-v boat powered by a hopped up homelite 30cc weedeater engine

I always wanted to get into the gas versions but never could afford it. Now I got too many hobbies to start a new hobby!
I was given a nitro rc car a few years ago. Before I could use it I was 80 dollars into it for a new remote control and servo. First drive I hit a tree and snapped the front control arm. Now I am trying to find parts for a 15 year old rc car, which I finally found. All that thing did was smoke the tires and break stuff. Shredded gears in trans, just one thing after another. Sold it and have not looked back.
It was my last hurrah before I moved into high school and focus changed to quads and cars. I got it out last winter, bought a new remote in hopes of putting some time into it this year, but that hasn't happened. Like you said, too many hobbies!
I got a nitro car in college one of the summers I stayed on campus, my experience is similar to yours, once i got it running, it just went like a bat outta hell, till you hit something, then it was a 30min drive to the hobby shop to buy parts. It stayed broken for years, sat in a box until I wrapped it into a barter for a ford ranger with the warped head! lol

Tonight I’ve been fiddling with the receiver. I’ve determined that I’m not equipped to test this thing, and trying to figure it out without a circuit diagram or wiring schematic is proving to be difficult.
When I think I got it figured out, I would desolder a link in the circuit board and when testing for sound it would prove me wrong. I was trying to trace back through the circuit board and measuring the voltages as I went. Let’s just say it’s not making sense. I’ve tried cleaning the switches with electrical connection cleaner and deoxit d5 and it didn’t make much difference. I found service manual for other models that was manufactured by the same company at the same time, but none of them seems to match this particular receiver.
I think I need to shelve this unit and find some that works so I can test stuff and learn about the system with an actual service manual for the unit. Just to increase my knowledge of these radios. I also need to look into a signal generator and an oscilloscope to increase my ability to test and remove variables. ***** though cause I had a very nice signal generator back in the days that I ended up selling. Oh well, maybe I’ll come across someone’s old electrical testing station setup and be able to buy it all cheap to start out.

I sure could relieve you of all the stress and aggravation trying to fix that receiver and the time and money looking for testing equipment.

So a small victory was needed after the radio deal. I took some magnets that had threaded holes with short bolts, heated the bolts to enlarge the mounting bracket to the soap dispenser. This allowed me to install the magnets to the soap dispenser to the bracket easily and now a soap dispenser resides on the side of the fridge by the sink.

Wife had a slow leak in one of her tires, so I pulled the tire off and found the nail.
Pulled the plug kit out and plugged the hole.
Got the tire plugged and went ahead and rotated the tires at 15,000 miles. Brought out the new torque wrench to torque the lug nuts.
The car is back on all 4.
A package came in today. I ordered a leaf blower hanger for my ryobi leaf blower from a guy on esty. It’s 3D printed and pretty stought.
Only downside is I have to take the battery off the leaf blower when it goes on the wall. The hanger itself wasn’t expensive but the shipping is killing a lot of deals out there. But it was cheaper and quicker then getting a 3D printer…..
