I was out wandering in the ENtropy Lab the other night, and saw this old nail on the shelf . . . . it had been left in the garage of a house we had 15 years ago or so . . . ..

No test leads, instructions, or hints, but, hey, it's Sear's Best! Says so right on the sticker!

Clearing out my father-in-law's garage I came across 4-5 boxes of .45 ACP, all corroded and damp.

Until recently, I had never purchased a used car without finding a weapon or dangerous object in it; from the live shotgun shell stuck in the springs under the front seat of an LTD, to the .357 casings in the passenger door pocket of a VW Scirocco, to large knives.

I've gotten some good "bonuses" in used cars, too - brand new cutoff wheels, wrenches, etc.

While tearing down a '93 Mustang to build my FFR Roadster (Cobra), I found almost $15.00 in change, a Leatherman tool, 3-condom wrappers and some "adult" Polaroids.

Before I retired and still working (law enforcement) you'd be surprised at what I would find doing vehicle searches/storage inventories etc.

Don't leave stuff around/in your car/on you computer that you wouldn't want your mother/wife/children to see.

Shotgun shells left under the seat of the 1986 GMC truck I bought from an FBI agent years ago. Also a NAPA 6" long 1/2" extension left in an old 1972 Chevy Suburban I bought years ago.

When I moved in someone had left a old "eskimo" brand metal fan and some old camping type equipment that was pretty mangled.

However we have a farm in East TX thats been in the family for a good piece (100ish years) and a few years ago they were doing some work and found an old old square type nail laying out in the road (dirt). The thought was it probably fell off a wagon ages ago... kinda funny how it just popped to the surface one day.

That's a nice find. I have similar 70's SEARS Engine Analyzer. It's good as new, and was a great tester. Still useful and quite a conversation piece. Sears also sold a scope along with the analyzer. That is a rare item.

I once found a good Rodac 3/8" air impact wrench in an old MGB that I purchased at auction

Years ago I was helping some friends pull old mattresses from this boyscout camp they ran.

All of the mattresses were old military surplus and they were coming out for new ones to be put in. After removing around 300 of these things, we took a break for the day. I sat down on a stack of them and felt something hard just under the cover of the mattress.

I pulled out my knife and cut what was in there out. What did I find? Just a live .50 caliber round is all. How the hell it got in the mattress I'll never know.

Where are you buying your cars from? Baghdad?!? :lol_hitti
Pretty close - for awhile it was from people my dad worked with, friends of my best friend's father, or the used car dealer that closed down in Burlington City, NJ. My dad worked in Camden, NJ, and my friend's father bought his goat meat there.
Then there was the '75 LTD with a 2' diameter blood stain in the back seat. And my dad said the guy didn't hunt (well, not deer, at least...).

A little more about my cars is available HERE; I'm wondering if this would be OK to put it in my sig.

I've been broke a lot in my life, and didn't have $ or a place work on cars. I had some given to me for little or nothing by people trying to help; they often ended up costing me more than a more expensive car would've.

Different wife and a different life now.

I went to remove the steering wheel on my Jetta after I bought it, removed the trim piece to access the nut, and behind it was a "new" in wrapper condom. I wouldn't trust it not to break though. I put it back where I found it when I was done re-installing the wheel :lol_hitti
