Bought this middle chest today for $50. No name on it, but drawers are very smooth (I assume ball bearing), and seems very heavy construction, I'd guess 50lbs at least, and probably more like 80lbs. Any ideas or help on who made this?

I have a 3 drawer side cab and a 3 drawer intermediate unit made by Stack-on that has the same type of drawers and handles so my quess is Stack-on.

I find this one a significant step up from the Craftsman and Husky boxes, do you agree with your Stack-on's?

After some searching it looks a lot like the Lyon, including no logo on the middle box - ?

i wont argue with stack-on but will offer up that rem-line also made some lighter duty stuff that resemble that as well and was often unmarked or had just a flimsy decal that was easily removed or lost.

I have a Matco box that has the same side handles and has the same drawer handles but stamped Matco on the face

those are friction slides on the drawers
I saw an older Matco on Ebay that looked a lot like this one. I've also seen pics of Kennedy, Cornwell and Waterloo boxes that look similar, maybe many or all came out of the same factory?

I'm sure you're right about friction slides, they just operate so smoothly, much better than on consumer boxes. It may not be a top of the line Pro box but is definitely a step up from C-Man and Husky - funny thing, this guy had a couple Husky's in his garage he was keeping over this one! It's exactly what I was looking for, and I feel quite the score for $50

I found the following old post from 2011 in a RemLine thread, looks like you're both right!
Here is my remline in action. I got this at a garage sale. It's been repainted. I am going to strip it down one day and paint it again. RemLine is now StackOn.

While moving the chest today I found the following stamped in the side - don't know how I missed it before.

Next question - did Valley manufacture boxes for other brands or just under their own name?

Funny, this just popped up on the vintage side of the house.

What a coincidence! Still don't see my 5 drawer mid box, maybe only made for a short time. I searched but didn't find much on Valley, I guess never very popular, but seems like a well made box, definitely much heavier construction than Craftsman
