Was visiting family in Salem, MA and wanted to check around for some places with used tools. Flea markets are not as common up there as in the South and antique stores vary on their pricing.
Quick search of Google showed a couple options. One was just on the other side of Boston, and the pictures showed a good selection in a small space. The Tool Shed, 471 Main St, Waltham, MA 02452.
Decided to drop by and take a look. I can always use a few good hand tools.
Fantastic place. He had tools from all trades in there.
Blacksmithing, woodworking, mechanic, electrical, plumbing...
Inventory is constantly changing based on what he finds in the area.
Owner said he is 72 and working on retiring. He bought the place from the original owner in the 90s. It will either get a new owner this year or everything will be sold through a broker. Most of his time is spent going out to get the tools. He only opens 1-5PM W-F and closes earlier on Saturday.
The prices were great for the tools and condition, but he doesn't really haggle.
Honestly he doesn't really need to with how he has them priced.
If anyone is around Boston area and would like to rummage through his wares while it is open, I can highly recommend it.
