The tools in costco

I have seen some tools in costco (a full tool kit) for £50, the tool kit is made by crescent just wondering if anyone as ever heard of crescent if so what do you think of crescent

Crescent used to be an excellent US brand. Now owned by Cooper tools, mostly junk IMHO.

I've looked at that set, and honestly, it's not too bad for a homeowner set. Not something I would want to wrench with on a daily basis, but for something to keep around to have a lot of tools handy for less than $100, it's not bad. A lot nicer stuff than most of the homeowner kits you see out there (my favorite ones are the '200 piece super-duper tool kit' and when you look closely, there are 150 bits, 40 allen keys, and 10 actual tools).

Not bad for non US tools. Too bad they aren't made here any more. I bought this set for my nephew when he picked up his old Volvo. (Bought him a manual for it too!) I know that they have been used, every weekend, for over a year. He keeps them clean and organized and not one has failed.

Yes, I agree. I bought a set a few years ago and split it up to backfill the emergency toolkits I have in my vehicles. It's very good homeowner grade stuff; fit and finish are on par with Craftsman.

I also have a set of Costco Cresent Gearwrenches that have been beat to death for many years now and they are excellent tools.

I've been happy with my costco gearwrenches too, except that the open end points the opposite way of my real GearWrenches. That makes it confusing when figuring out which way is 'on' or 'off'.

The Crescent tools at costco are not real Crescent tools; they're a poor attempt to replicate the original.

I don't think there are any "real" Crescent tools anymore.

While the Danaher Borg has done a pretty good job in assimilating tool companies and maintaining reasonable quality for the most part, Cooper Tools has not.

I have a Crescent tool kit from Costco that I keep in my car--it's a great value.

Not anymore, but there used to be.

I think Crescent "Crescent" Wrenches are still US made and real Crescent. The general sets aren't bad for imported warehouse store stuff.
