Does anyone have a source for the Bahco ratchets? I see them on Amazon but the picture is wrong and I'm not sure I trust it.

So you have to remove everything on the top lid in order to get in that top compartment? Lets say you are rebuilding a carburetor on it and it's in a bunch of pieces, but you forgot your one and only stubby screwdriver in that top compartment...

Mine is just a tool cart. I threw the top out years ago. I drilled holes in mine for extensions, screwdrivers and such.

A few years ago I decided that my battery operated drills and such would be Makita 18 Volt. I still have a few odds and ends but I have only bought 18 V since then. I need a new 3 Amp or better battery because my only 3 A to run my sander was stolen. I can get the Makita battery, a 2 pack, for $129.00 or another brand or maybe style but for the Makita, Masione (?), 2 pack for $53.99.

Are these much cheaper Masione batteries good enough?

I did a search of this thread for "Mac Air Ratchet", "AR1776" and "SP Air", and got no hits.

I just found out via another post on this site, that the Mac sealed-head air ratchets are made by SP Air. Apparently, certain other Mac air tools are also sourced from SP Air.
http://www.spairusa.com/products.html

At any rate, Mac has the AR1776 ratchet on promo with a set of "free" 3/8 impact sockets for $337 for the month of August. I only care about the ratchet--don't need the socket set.

Amazon has the SP Air 7786 (Same as AR1776 except for logos 'n' color) for $187 and free shipping (but not Prime eligible)

My Mac die grinder appears to be the SP Air 7220; and it's enthusiastically recommended as a kick-*** grinder that will eat common CP and IR die grinders alive.

Well I received my cheapo Masione batteries from Amazon. Plugged one into my sander and it works. I guess this is a good deal. No way for me to tell if they are going to last. I haven't actually done any work with them yet.

I don't have item numbers handy, but the tool truck air tools are often made by other companies like Ingersoll rand. I got my 1/2 impact and 3/8 air ratchet at half the price of truck tools and they were the exact same tools.

do you know who makes s/o's air die grinders...like PT210A?

and air sanders like 690X?
Far as I know, Snap-On makes their own air tools--at least some of them.

I would have expected crossover from the Sioux air-tool line; as Sioux is also a Snappy Industrial brand--but I'm not aware of any Sioux-Snap-On commonality.

Yeah, I've had similar situations where the Crfatsmen stuff and the Snap On stuff is identical in every way other than the price!
Can you provide the Craftsman and the Snap-On part numbers?

Does anyone know who makes these roloc discs for Mac ?

http://www.mactools.com/en-us/Power...ick-Change-Surface-Conditioning-Disc-3-Coarse

I think it might be 3m but im struggling to find what type they are as 3m etc describe them differently.
Yes, Roloc is a 3M technology. What pad are you referring to? They use Scotch-Brite pads as consumables. Bristle pads are usually used for aluminum and surface conditioning disks for steel.

I use them for gasket removal and prep, and other more delicate surfaces. Anything where sealing isn't necessary, grinder comes out.

The MSD0484 pads.

So it's just Scotch Brite ?

That MSD0484 pad was a substitute line for 3M whether it is an economical version or a more premium pad I am not sure.

There are better pads out there now by other manufacturers but I'm not sure what's available in the UK

Maybe other people have had different luck. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Armstrong tools and would trust my life with every Armstrong tool I own... except their ratchets. I have several where the switch will click into the wrong position as I'm ratcheting and either not contact the gears and swing freely or spring over and ratchet in the opposite direction.

Looking for the equivalent to the Matco PN890 BENT 90º ANGLE NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS. I assume they are Knipex but didn't see them on Knipex's site.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

When it is all said and done, there is only a handful of good tool companies and the same products cross different brand is pretty common. Look at Matco and Armstrong owned by Danaher, who also makes gearwrench, allen, napa, masterforce and craftsman wrenches. Stanley owns Mac and Proto, though the cross over is somewhat limited. SO owns Willams and even though Willams has been around longer the SO, their newer offers are mostly older SO designs, ratchets and screwdrivers being the main ones. Its good to dig, you may find some great deals we don't know about.
Danaher unloaded all of it's hand tool divisions some time ago. They and the German owned Cooper Group created a new corporation combining their many tool brands. The new corporation is Apex. The brand list is long: Armstrong, Jobox, Lufkin, Weller, Plumb, KD/Gearwrench Jacobs drill chucks, and many more. Between Apex and Stanley is a huge chunk of the tool market.

Yep, as far as i can tell all the re-thread kits are identical (matco, mac, snap on, craftsman) The plastic radiator hose pinch pliers from matco and craftsman are the same. 12 piece snap ring pliers are the same from mac to craftsman (huge price difference).

TRCOMBO-48 - Mac Rethread Kit
SPM6225206402- Kastar Rethread Kit

PK1250- Mac Snap Ring Pliers
00950464000- Craftsman Snap Ring Pliers

Im 99% sure that Irwin makes the taps and dies in Mac, Matco, and Snap On kits. So save a bunch by getting it right through Irwin.

There are a whole bunch of items that the trucks rebrand. Most all of it is good quality stuff, so theres nothing wrong with scoring it at a lower cost!
The re-thread taps and dies are made by Lang, formerly called Kastar. They sell them under their own name, as well.

Seems there are also 1/4 (Bahco 6950) and 1/2 (Bahco 8150) versions.
Bahco and CDI are industrial divisions Of Snap On. CDI is a torque wrench manufacturer. There are design differences. The CDI that I was inrerested in has a fixed head and the closest SnapOn has a swivel head. They make both.

Anyone know if the Williams line of screwdrivers is the same as Snap-On?
Snap On owns Williams. They bought the rights to this out of business brand and shortly afterward moved production to Taiwan. They did make some here.

Anyone going into the automotive tech field or any service repair field these days can easily outfit himself with basic tools from other sources and still have excellent quality tools that will serve many years. Use the trucks for specialty tools or specific tool nobody else offers, but for everything else just go with OEM.

In another life as both a A/P mechanic and small engine mechanic I simply outfitted myself with tools from auto parts stores, industrial supply warehouses, and local hardware stores. Even Sears was useful in those days. I still own and use most of those tools today on my own vehicles.
Bear in mind that some of those brands are divisions of those truck brand companies or have the same parent company. Bahco, CDI and Williams are all Snap on companies so it is not surprising that there is a lot of cross branding.
I like this guy! [emoji481]

Danaher has been out of the picture since 2010 when they merged all of their hand tool divisions with all of the brands of the Cooper Group, in a co owned corporation called Apex. They later sold Apex to the current owner, Bain Capital. A lot of the equivalent brands listed are owned by the same people that own the truck brands so it is not surprising that they have the same tools, though they probably sell them at a better price

Anyone have or use one of the cdi or precession torque wrenches? I need a new one but the cdi's are 1/3 the price right now on amazon.
CDI is the SnapOn industrial company that makes their torque wrenches. In one instance the SnapOn had a tilt head and the CDI was fixed but if they look the same they are the same. Snap On does sell wrenches from other sources, as well.

If there is a Williams torque wrench it is undoubtedly from their CDI division. Both are Snap On companies.
