Understood. But I was hoping there would be, say, a list of SO ratchets all in one list.

If it existed, you might find the list. Certain Bahco model ratchets use the same dual 80 gear mechanism, and the USA made Williams ratchets are similar in form, but have a different ratcheting mechanism. I have several USA made Williams ratchets, and I'm happy with them. I've had Taiwan made Williams and it was absolute dog ****.

These Master Magnets were sold by Snap-On briefly. I don't have the part number because they are no longer listed on the website.

Canadian Tire or Gearwrench etc...

Gearwrench is NOT an equivalent for the Matco SRFBZLM102TA. I bought the GearWrench set and am fairly disappointed with the 8mm and 14mm. Those sizes were absolute garbage. The 14mm is closer to a weapon meant to destroy bolts than a tool. The 8mm was hilariously bent in two places (in a way that makes me want to cry). My wrenches are NOT a fluke. Their 14mm is sized at 15mm by design. I’m very disappointed by that choice. I suspect they increased the size of the 14mm about 0.3-0.35mm over the ideal size in order to accommodate 9/16” fasteners and possibly use the same mold for both models. The 14mm grabs brand new high quality fasteners barely on the corner, not on the side as the other sized wrenches do. Faced with a rounded fastener, the 14mm will probably not live up to GearWrench’s claim that it can loosen fasteners which are up to 50% rounded.

In the other sizes, I can see the GearWrench wrenches differ from the Matco wrenches. Matco is slimmer, straighter, more smoothly finished, less bulk around the gear, nicer hardware around the gear (signature signs of Kabo).

I just bought a VIM SPM100 spark plug socket set. I believe it to be the same as Matco SB13SP.

This video is showing how the ratcheting box wrench by Icon is the same as the Matco, Carlyle, Mountain and Platinum.

Hi, I'm. Not sure if this has been talked about in here but I'm. After a set of picks. I had a cheap set and they bent when I put any pressure on them. I've seen Williams are a snap on company and I've seen their pick handles are the same as bluepoint. But I've also seen some Toptul handles that are identical also. Just wondering if they are the same picks? 6f0abbb32307750c97bc036047198451.jpg6f29647f5754f0d6f99b808bf282e161.jpg

Bit of a late reply, but I was recently put on to Lancer (on another thread) who look to be the OEM for both. Not sure if sharing the same OEM means both sets are made to the same exact specs. :dunno:

I bought this 16pc SAE/MM hex key set (AWCPEF16K) from my Snap-on dealer last week, and of course today found the same set from the original manufacturer, Eklind Tool.

The Snap-on set sells for $21.95, and comes with individual metric sets AWMEF7K and SAE set AWEF9K. The Eklind set (25016) is amazingly only $5 cheaper on Amazon as of this posting.

They have a few other configurations, and it looks like Snap-on sources all of their folding hex key sets from Eklind Tool.

Anyone know if the Williams line of screwdrivers is the same as Snap-On?

Yes and no. They are made on the same machines with the same materials, but the set configurations are a little different. I have many Snap On hard handle sets from the late 90's up to 2019 when I finally decided to stop patronizing the truck in preparation for retirement and have 3 co-workers who have the Williams hard handle sets. They are indeed the same construction.

Lately I have bought some Tekton tools from Amazon and they seem to be pretty good. Not Snap On, but useable. They are tools not works of art,

Not quite - I’ve got both and they’re not the same. Aside from having the crimping label printed wrong on the Carlyles, the Snap-on crimpers are made in USA while the Carlyles are Taiwan-made.
The difference between "same tool, different brand-name" and "cheap knockoff" made to look like the "real" tool."

I have a suspicion that there's plenty of knockoffs posted on this thread that are not "the same tool" as the good one.

I recently bought a Deere 310 L backhoe, and discovered that most of my tools were far too wimpy to work on this. I had to buy a 1 inch drive, 40 inch breaker bar to get the lug nuts off. Most of the bolts are so tight and big that 1/2 inch drive stuff doesn't cut it. None of my oil filter wrenches fit, and the grease gun that does my riding mower is barely adequate.
Truck tools have become my new world.

Another set of tools to buy.

Maybe we need a thread to recommend what brands are trustworthy. Snap on and Mac and Proto are hugely expensive.

If I have no choice, I'll pay, but if there is something close, I'd just assume save some money.

I do know that cheap tools are a major mistake. They break on Sunday afternoon at 4 PM when you have to have the car ready to go to work on Monday.

I am a huge fan of Klein, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Channel Lock, Rigid plumbing, Greenlee, and Ideal.

Northern Tool or Tractor Supply in this area tend to carry the larger tools for heavy equipment maintenance.

Irwin no longer makes the taps and dies, easy outs and twist sockets for Matco and Snap On.Irwin cut off Matco in 2016.Irwin did it to Snap On after Snap On released their locking pliers made by Malco.

I would imagine they can be ordered, but you aren't likely to get a very good price as the tool will pass from Proto to Mac Tools to the Dealer, and Mac does not give very good discounts to their dealers on non-catalog items. Actually, they give terrible discounts (I could frequently buy a non-cataloged item for less from a retail outlet than I could through Mac when I was a Mac dealer).

Zoro is where I typically purchase from. I’ve found a cool little trick to get discount codes, almost on command. Was mostly asking out of shear curiosity

ASTRO Phenumatic Makes all MATCO PRS series snap ring pliers and they are very reasonably priced on MATCO's website I think I paid about $20 for this PRS145 0.050 90° snap ring pliers they work great no issues and love the green handles instead of red.

I think someone else mae a similar comparison, but if you look at the Irwin/Hansen tap and die sets, then look at the Snap-on sets... other than the color of the blow molded case... and the name on the tools...
The new Snap On tap and die sets, made by Snap On in house now.It all started with Irwin cutting them off after the locking pliers made by Malco came out.Started to do this recently

snap on wire crimpers are the carlyle ones from napa. Snapon breaker bar same as hyper tough made by wilde
This is false on both counts.

The tool world is a copy cat business. Just because something looks similar doesn't mean it's same thing albeit different packaging/trim etc

Perhaps...

Matco doesn't make anything but their boxes.

It is rebranded fill in the ______
not always some items they have are from their own designs and they just subcontract the manufacturing some of them are exclusives and some are rebrands

Huh?
I'm not sure what you're saying ...

My point was Matco makes one thing themselves...boxes.
Everything else is made for them rebranded or it's own design for them.
Either way they make nothing but boxes. *****

They do make nice boxes!!
