I love the quality and now they have noontime delivery of M/C, but don't like how they do not disclose brand names, even if you ask. Some power tools and the WD-40 & Loctite or Silicone products are stated. Quality is always a safe bet there though. Lots of Williams brand sockets and such. Used to have Western Forge pliers. That is how I figured who made the Craftsman pliers.

I order from McMaster Carr all the time, and I have never had a problem getting the brand of a tool before ordering. I did ask once if they could give me a list of all the Snap on tools they sold, and they said they didn't have anyway to do that however.

Williams/BluePoint/Snap-on just went through an apparent price increase. Don't overlook Zoro. It looks like they are about $220, but you can frequently get 20% off coupons (see other thread on this site) and they will ship free over $50/$75.

The ebay pliers as one might suslect are not thecsame. They are cheap knock offs. The first picture is the knock offs, the?second is the Mac Tools SD1118. The quality and fimish of the knoffs are vastly inferior to the mac tools pliers.

You have them or just judging by the pics? I own both Mac and ebay ones and to me they look identical.

The ones from ebay are ovvikusly inferior. Look at the surfaces if the metal. I ssume its just a molding defect in the surface of the metal of the ebay pair, but ho estly, that looks like a crack running through it.

As I said, I have both of them and I am 100% sure they are the same product. IMHO factory intentionally adds some touches to pliers going to different brands to fool people. There are red, black and blue handle covers. Handle covers of different lengths. Silver and black springs. Paint is little different. Metal is the same. That pic of pliers on ebay obviously shows pliers that's been already used on clamps.

Ages ago (mid 1980's), back when I was a German car tech, I bought a pair of locking hose clamp pliers with the cable for the spring tension clamps that everyone hated because you couldn't reach them in "those damn German cars". They are made in France and still serve me well - same cable, positive locking etc.
Unlike friends, that have bought the horror freight or Chinese junk online "they look the same" **** that fails on the first try.
The Metal is NOT the same, the manufacturing quality is not the same. One tools is made for a one time purchase and the junk is just that.

Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. The pics look vastly different to me, but who knows if they are even representative of the real thing(s)? Anecdotal evidence is the least reliable of them all.

Im not talking about the obvious wear marks in the grove, im talking about the obvious defects in the casting and poor finish. Usually the reason that the cheap tools look just like the really expensive ones is because they copied them. I have an Ingersol Rand DA air sander. It looks exactly like the Harbor Freight one. The parts even interchange. But they are NOT the same. I have an SP air air ratchet. It looks exactly like certain models of Mac Tools and Matco air ratchets. It also looks just like a particular model of Harbor Freight ratchet. So are they all the same? Three of them are, Matco and Mac got them from SP Air Tools in Japan. The Harbor Freight ratchet however is a cheap knockoff. The copied it exactly. Almost. But using inferior materials and workmanship.
