For work on cars its a good option but what do you do when you go out in public/to a buddies place and need a light? I guess one could carry the head lamp in a fanny pack until needed
Personally for engine bay work I like led Xmas tree lights the best. They fit small spaces, don't blind me and need repositioned constantly, don't need held, and don't get snagged or knocked off while working.
