I found a groove-beamed DBE recently. Great shape for a 1943 tool. Wouldn't mind grabbing the rest of the set of these deep offset babies! Will have to get a pic of it soon.

rusty,

Very nice box.... For whatever reason, these don't become available very often. Looks like your ever growing collection now has a perfect new home.

I'm thinking that back in the day this box could have been purchased without tools, as this one doesn't have a set number assigned to it.

Please do something with that lone square nut....my OCD can't take it.....:eek7:

I saw that too, make sure you use one of the 8pt sockets below to remove it. :lol_hitti

BTW, I'm jealous of your little wilton in the background.

You are correct the boxes were available without tools. I believe your dead on with that the reason it was not stamped with a set number is because the box was bought with only the needed sizes and not as a complete set with the extra fluff.

I just took care of that lone square by replacing the hex nuts with square nuts and I added washers so no more damaged paint from turning rough fastens on the paint.

Edit: Here is a better picture of what the box I believe would have came with if bought complete and a price if the box was bought separate.

Don't worry I just pulled out the torch to take the nuts off ;).
The little Wilton is a 3 1/2in. I usually keep it on my drill press as a joke. It's in pretty good shape as well it came from a small shop that built dirt track cars to run at my local speedway.

A little Blackhawk 1521 1/4" breaker bar. Works good still. Just bought it from a friend recently.

Cool little 1/4 offset breaker. You don't find much 1/4 drive Blackhawk so cool find for sure.

Cool thread - I didn't realize there was a following for Blackhawk tools, I come across them once in a while, and I have a few spares here myself. Guess I'll have to start making a collection together for those who want me to save them up for them.

Nice find... Very interesting to see the data tag mounted on the hydraulic unit cover plate.

Not sure why they did that. I pulled the cover off last night and I can still the rivets where it's supposed to be attached, I'm not sure if I'll be able to move it back or not. It does have the optional rubber coated wheels which is nice.

I bought the Black Hawk ratcheting wrenches back when they first came out in the early 2000's

I did also. maybe it was the late 90s or early 2000s.
I do remember at the time the tool truck brands didn't have anything like it. and every other ratcheting wrench was huge(exposed gear style)
yes they're Blackhawk and on the backside they say made in Taiwan but I love 'em and use 'em a lot.

i finally brought home my jack. my dads been asking me for months if I still wanted it. I picked it up this morning.
my dad had it forever. I remember using it working on my stuff when I was a teen. it's complete except for the key and headlight switch. It needs a rebuild, but it works(kinda). i'll mess w/ it when the weather get nice(spring/summer)

Man I've been slacking...lots of cool additions to this thread since I last checked. Nice stuff guys....

beatcad, the bottom box you posted a couple pages back has been bugging the **** out of me. It has some elements about it that just didn't seem to fit a Blackhawk piece.

I'm now thinking it's a Bonney. Check out this old E-bay listing for a catalog. Minus the paint color and decals, the top box is a dead ringer for an early Blackhawk. Maybe they were manufactured by the same company..:dunno:

I have two Blackhawk Aircraft jacks which look like they were manufactured in 1942
They are tripod, 5 feet tall, but I cannot find a part number. I would like to rebuild them to use. Does anyone know anything about these kind of jacks?

Thanks,
Al

This vintage 'Blackhawk' jack is sooooooo ****'in cool!

Damn, wish I could come across one of those, with it's sleek cool look and even has a "LIGHT".....****!!!!...that's awesome!

If or when you ever do get it either restored or in operating condition again please send me pictures of it if you can? I'd really would like to see it back in full restored/operating condition.

Thanks for posting and sharing.

Hi, Al - welcome to the GJ.

Can you post a photo or 2? It'd be nice to see what they look like, and besides - we LOVE photos here!

Just picked up this jack at an estate sale this weekend
Bought it to save it from the seller who was going to scrap it...it looked to cool to be destroyed. Really dont have time for another project right now (good summer project...too cold right now) but have seen some nice inspiration here. The pump leaks and the jack doesnt lift
Paid $5. I think it is a model S17

gearheadglen, Very nice jack... With the fixed wheels, cast deco-styled side plates and hydraulic unit cover, I believe this is a mid to late 30s 1.5 Ton model S-7. Pretty tough to go wrong for 5 bucks.

beatcad, Not really sure if your new to you torque wrench is a New Britain or a later Litton era piece. Certainly does looks old enough to be 60s, New Britain era. Whatever the vintage, simply go wrong with being a freebie.

Thanks to member Flatintoone, I was able acquire what I believe are the correct wrenches to complete this little 19ND "Nuggies" set. I think it makes a nice little companion to the 10ND set that I posted a few pages back...:D

I also picked up that same exact Blackhawk Jack with the light. The only problem is I am missing the center rod and the top handle and lock assembly. It is in solid nice condition. I am looking forward to restoring it .

this 3/8 ratchet was in the bunch(maybe 80s). it was rusted solid. usually i'll clamp the flat in my vise and try to break it loose. but this one I decided to do it a little better.
IMG_3871_zps8c1eec54.jpg

IMG_3872_zps73a76bfc.jpg

I took it apart and soaked the ratchet/pawl assy in evaporust overnight. the rest got a little wire wheel and a lot of turtle wax brand chrome polish & rust remover.
put it back together w/ a couple drops of 20W50 motor oil. so far it hasn't skipped a beat(tooth)!
