The vintage Blackhawk Thread

I'm really not sure what vintage this board is from, but for $15, I couldn't leave it behind. It has a piece of it cut out. Looks like 2-4 tool spots, missing a couple of pegs at the bottom. But not too bad. I have no clue which New-Britain era Blackhawk tools should even go on there...

That board is from the New Britian era. That means it has to date from 1955 or newer. I forget when Stanley bought out New Britian but someone here will know.

That board looks to be 70s/80s. It looks like it has the insignia of New Britains parent company to the left of NBM. The exact dates escape me by I wanna say they were bought out in the 70s and it was the mid 80s that Stanley acquired them. Can't recall the parent company's name at the moment, but it started with an L.

I would have definitely bought that for $15 , I bet it was cut to clear a light switch...or something like that.

Good eye. That is Litton Industrial Products. According to Wiki, Litton owned NB from 1972 to its closure in 1990.

A very interesting chain of events have taken place over the past few years.

One of my collections was started after reading this thread a few years ago
I started collecting porto power sets and benches.

"Fast forward" in March of this year I was surfing the internet when I ran across a porto power SA-18 Bantam set for sale. I jumped all over it.

After looking up as much info as I could find about this set The internet took me to this thread

I studied the pictures very closely only to discover that I had purchased CRTDI's porto power set.

I'm thrilled to have it and have a few hours invested cleaning / fixing dents polishing the smooth steel surfaces and painting everything

I have a 3/4" Blackhawk 916. The 916 was ground off both sides of the logo to the left of the "BLACKHAWK MFG CO". I have found another 916 on Alloy Artifacts with the same alteration. Any guess why this was done?

I just got my porto power case back today and tomorrow it will be hung and filled with all the pieces that make up this set.
The decal looks perfect and the blackhawk lettering is great too. It sure cleans up this case

does anyone know about the smaller jack,the handle does not stand up and is removable so you can drive over?
Large jack is aluminum.

The small jack is a 1.5 Ton S-7 from the mid to late 30s.

Although this is not my first Blackhawk tool (by a long shot), this is my first post to this thread.

I acquired this Blackhawk 916 3/4" drive ratchet in a Hinsdale socket set today. I sprayed it with a little WD-40 and it's as good as new!

I've got an OLD Blackhawk bottle jack, maybe 5 ton? I took it apart about 20 years ago, thinking I could fix it. The Internet was still in its infancy. Now I need to do something with it?

I posted my Torpedo and socket set under a different thread (Blackhawk Torpedo Socket Set). My dad also had a floor jack I am sure must have been a Blackhawk, judging from the pictures I looked at here. The jack was sold at the estate auction several years ago.

The first time I saw a pic it looked like the top of the box was rusted. When I got it I found that it had been painted over for some reason. Simple green and an old toothbrush removed the paint without damaging the original finish.

I picked up this Blackhawk 4021 21/32" socket wrench a while back for a buck or two, just now getting to take a closer look. According to Twertsy's site, it was made circa 1930. Now I'm off to find a 21/32" fastener to try it on...

Here are a few teaser pics.

I quickly went through the contents and I have to say that the Snap-On ratchet is literally brand new on the inside. I've never seen one cleaner in my life.

Maybe try con rod nuts on 49-53 flathead.
