Sk started selling branded tools around 1930, but made them for other companies before that
I don't believe that particular assertion. I've seen a 1928 catalog for Sherman Klove with no tools, and there's not an ounce of evidence I can find.

True, evidence is lacking. I wonder if sk has some info locked away in their vault!
Company has traded hands so many times I bet the information is long gone.

Here is a blackhawk 89986 1" drive ratchet adapter date code -0 (40 or 50?). The 3/4 and 1/2 are shown next to it for scale.

While I don't recall seeing "AAF" or a "SPEC." (Specification) number citation on a Blackhawk tool before, I have seen it on other things (instruments, for example) and it was US Army Air Forces. I could be wrong. But it's awfully compelling for that.

I'm testing the water here. I need only one copy of this emblem for my other blackhawk toolbox. I already have a good reliable and local source for casting a fairly accurate copy. (although it will be zinc with antique brass finish) So close enough for my interests.
I Would like to make ten. Would any of you folks be interested in one? I'm thinking $30 each + whatever shipping/postage would be to your garage. Not making a killing on this just have to cover my efforts.
Thanks guys.
Anyone interested?

It actually took me awhile to find it in a catalog. This series of swivel socket wrenches - model numbers 516 (1/2"), 518 (9/16"), 520 (5/8") and later, 524 (3/4") - had those looping Tee handles from 1926 to 1935. I had to keep going back until I found these removable bar type Tee handles in the 1919 catalog!

No cross-bar for mine, unfortunately. (No wonder they went to the looping Tee handle instead! :))

Hello,

I have a request to all the Blackhawk Tool aficionados out there.

I have this ole Blackhawk Chief Wrench Set Toolbox (Pictured) I plan to do a nut/bolt restoration on.

For it to be done right, I first have to get the decal problem resolved.

I’m requesting help in getting a Full Frame Closeup clear high-rez digital picture (in good lighting) of the two decals on this toolbox.

I’ve searched online & found a few decent ones but wanted to ask here before using one of those.

I plan to do some very tedious work and trace the pictures using graphics software & create vector files of the logos.

With the high-rez vector files, I’ll be able to print high quality replacement logos on water-slide paper using my old Alps printer.

This will take some time & If all turns out, I’ll mail you a set of decals for your help.[emoji1303]

Take Care,
-Steven E

Once I have the master files created, I’ll be able to edit lettering, patent dates etc for replacement logos on other toolboxes with the same logo.

SE: how about you going thru the thread and if you find a good candidate for the logos you would like better pics of maybe PM that member. if it might happen to be me i'm happy to help with a new picture, but i'll have to dig out the toolboxes cause i'm in the middle of a move at the moment.

here's a couple i know i can put my finger on in a few minutes, but not sure they are good enough for your project. I might have more if you see something in this thread cause I don't recall selling any of my old Blackhawk.

Don (the PARTY GARAGE OWNER) might have one available cause he and his guy make some amazing decals and I think Don owns a few Blackhawk toolboxes like the one that looks like a vacuum cleaner.

good luck!!

I’d like to start with a Blackhawk “Chief” Wrench Set Logo. Like the one pictured in my post.

If you guys have a better example let me know, thanks.

I’d like to make a run on recreating the Round sticker on this box also.

Look through this thread. I have a very clean set. You should be able to find pics of it in here. If not, I'll take a pic this weekend.

EDIT: There's a pic here back a few pages in this thread but you'll need a cleaner one.

Otg,

Somehow I missed your previous post on the 10ND set.

Awesome.... That particular era set seems to be tougher to find than the earlier versions.

If you're looking for the correct pattern 21012, 3/8" socket for this set, just send me a PM. I'm pretty sure I have an extra I can gift in your direction...

Thanks guys for the information. I’ve seen those Vinyl repro decals on eBay & he did a fine job on them.

Just nothing beats a color layered water-slide decal. I’ll be starting on these soon and will post pictures on the outcome.

Take care.

Thanks twertsy, that’ll do! How’s the condition on the circle decal on the front of your Chief Box?

This one I’m having trouble finding.

As some of you may know from an old post, I inherited my dads Blackhawk rollcab toolbox. As long as I can remember back in the mid 50's and even a picture I have some where, it was painted white. Anyone have an opinion on this? Was it custom or available in other colors? His other aircraft mechanic partner had another white one as well. I know all the others I've seen are red of course.

Almost forgot. It also had a light fluorescent fixture mounted in the center of the top at some time but it was removed long before my time.

y'sguy, does the cabinet look like this? If so, it is a Model D or DD, dating from just after WWII to the mid-50's. Look for Blackhawk catalogs from that period on the internet for downloading and you can see some good illustrations of this model.

WOW! Thanks for that confirmation!
That is exactly the same configuration as mine, and still without the light though.

Is that one yours?

I will check on the catalogs, Thanks in the past I was never able to find any.
