I have an old Blackhawk Reck Rack Im selling, cleaning up the garage.
Based on the size/dimensions, it looks like a "T" case. They put 1/2-inch drive spinner sets in those. So either a 12TD, 15TD, or 17TD. The number is the number of pieces, the T is for the case. And the D is for 12-point (Double Hex). All of them had a hinge handle, a tommy bar and a release key, + sockets, either 9, 12, or 14 respectively.Anyone have an idea?

EDIT:
The "Chief" sets spanned the old and new numbering systems from early 30's through '41, and near the end, you no longer needed the release key, but they didn't change the model numbering system, which can be confusing (e.g., 17TD set in 1935 had 17 pieces; 17TD set in 1939 had 16 pieces).
So, for that set...
Hinge handle 9217 or 49988
Tommy bar 9209 or 49986
Release key 9004 or nothing
Sockets 8412 or 40112 (3/8") through 8436 or 40136 (1-1/8")
Socket wrenches were called wrenches and wrench sets, even after the sockets were detachable from the handles after the fixed (welded, pinned) socket wrench era. Common terminology. And all Blackhawk socket wrench sets were called "Wrench Sets" in catalogs and on decals.Lugz, here's a better pic of the box. It measures 18-3/8" x 2-3/4" x 1-3/4". It sounds like you're describing a socket set. The decal says "Wrench set". Now I'm really curious to know what was in the box! :0)
Here are a couple
Those are awesome Otg!
Tex - your box is an earlier version of the 13TD set box Otg is showing in Pics 4, 5, and 6 in post #1935. (The N box for the ND sets Otg is showing are a very small square box for midget ignition socket wrenches.) EDT: If you want to fill it or ID it correctly for flipping to someone else to fill, scroll back up and see my posts on TD spinner sets. I would forget trying to figure out exactly what the decal used to say. It is a box for a 1/2-inch drive spinner set. You (or the next person) could just pick a number. 13, 15, 17, doesn't matter. It's the number of pieces, including the handle and tommy bar for the hole in the end of the handle. One says 13 something. Here is a 16 nd and a 10 nd

Thanks. Been trying to put a date on it. Can’t find the correct catalog online. Maybe 50’s.
My bet is '55-'57.........ish
Are you talking similar to a Herbrand J-12 or just a normal speeder?
