Thanks to your help CRTDI with those dimensions you gave me. The decals look original. I even had that little booklet remade. (I had one and my printer found the one you posted and he made them up for me so each jack will have one hanging on it just like the display picture.

For all the positive comments offered up here I THANK YOU GUYS
I still have 5 jacks to finish for the display.

Came across this Model 49996 Bald-Head 1/2 Drive ratchet as part of a lot off of Facebook where I was reaching for a couple of other ratchets to fill sets with. Is it me, or is operating this ratchet kind of like learning how to drive a stick shift?

If I do that, and I feel the results are a bit erratic (sometimes perfect, sometimes freespinning, and sometimes no change at all) is that generally indicative of a ratchet that simply needs to be broken down and cleaned/lubed?

By the looks of that gritty grease near the snap ring, I'd say that it could use a complete cleaning and light lube.

If working properly, you simply press the button and switch direction. There shouldn't be any of the mishaps you've described.

I found this set of 1/2 inch sockets for a few dollars. They were grime and filth ridden. This is what they look like after a heated bath of simple green in a HF ultrasonic cleaner. Pretty impressive.

Thanks. This set is actually missing 3 sockets. 1/2, 7/8, and 1-1/16. Fortunately I have each of those floating around in my little Blackhawk box that holds all of my odds and ends.

The real haul was the porcelain gas sign along with glass oil bottles. These sockets were the sprinkles on the deal. :)

one of our members found a small crock pot at a garage sale and he puts simple green in it and cleans his tools and small vises in it.

now i hear you are heating up simple green and making old Blackhawk sockets look like new. WOW.

got any pics of your ultrasonic heater?

Because this is a Blackhawk thread, I didn't want to pollute it with non Blackhawk stuff. Since you asked, I've added pictures of the sign, one of the oil bottles post cleaning and the bag of Blackhawk sockets as found in the wild. The oil bottles and spouts were rusted and filthy but now they all look like the on in the picture. The sign will get a special cleaning and the cobalt blue and red will pop when complete.

Yep, a cheap little Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaner the size of a toaster is what did the job. My buddy sold me on this idea which I really didn't have much faith in but the results speak for themselves.

I haven't seen TWERTSY posting for a very long time. did he ever get the glich fixed on his tool website? I miss him and his pics cause he owned about every wrench made. I hope he's healthy and maybe just taking a break from posting.

Catfish: i've got this Blackhawk roller that I don't think i'm going to keep cause I have too many cabinets (can a person have too many you say?).

anyway I haven't decided to sell it and not excited to ship, but a local pick up from a member traveling across the USA might get a decent price.

I like the drawer pattern a bit better on the one you posted a craigs pic of, but mine is built like a tank.

If I only had Don Long's skills and equipment and paint it would be a gem.

I wish, Drivesitfar. I work a lot given the situation in the country. May be I will travel once I retire (if I survive...)
Been to California before several times, but it's been before I found this hobby. San Francisco couple of times, Nappa valley (still remember the Tucker 48 there (Dillingers vinery or something similar...)
