lol. You're the precise guy that came to mind when I saw the ad. No chance for me to reel one of these in just yet. Sooner or later...

I'm happy to add this to my collection. Good luck finding one on your side of town. Soon I hope

Cool. Good luck. Let me know if I can help at all. I live about 30 minutes from that box.

Thanks for the help Dan I'll be there this afternoon to pick it up.

Don't leave us poor souls who missed out on this buy waiting too long to see it. I can at least live vicariously through you until I unearth one of these for myself. :)

so you fill that cleaner with Simple Green? I wonder if evaporust or vinegar would work ok in it too? VERY INTERESTING!!

It doesn't have to be straight up simple green. I use about a 20% mix of
SG and water, with a few drops of Dawn dish soap and it works great. I let mine heat up to about 120 degreees before turning on the ultrasonic routine.

Evaporust heated and in an ultrasonic cleaner is faster than just letting it sit as well.

I don't think I've ever posted this in this thread. I think I paid $40 for the box, a set of shorty Gearwrench ratcheting combo wrenches and a few other various hand tools. It did include the key and removable tray under the lid.

Ok guys
Here it is. I drove 500 miles yesterday to fetch this cool box and bring it home.

Catfishdan
I want to thank you again for the lead and all the help to get this box secured
You live in a beautiful part of Calif. I really enjoyed the drive. I saw 6 deer running across one of those rolling hills up there.

Here is the tool box

These chrome balls pull out to create a handle to lift the one end onto the 2 wheels on the opposite side to move the box to your work area (pretty cool)

Sorry for the poor shot

I don't think that a top box sits on this box because of the flat surface on the top and the rolling feature of the box.

I'm thinking of putting a torpedo porta power box on the top for display

Thanks again Dan

Don

what is the measurements of the top of your new (slightly used and abused) Blackhawk.

would this top box fit in case you want to keep the torpedo in it's current spot?

sounds like a fun drive and isn't it great to pick up something and smile all the way home?

After seeing Sonny’s name pop up in this thread so often I had to take a look to see what all of the hype was about. That Blackhawk box does not disappoint! Wow! Very nice score, Don. Congratulations.

I turn up on the bad side of the tracks very often. This place will cost you money. You've been warned. lol

TH: no kidding that GJ gives you many reasons to buy new or vintage stuff and if you want to restore them correctly you have to spend even more in tools and solutions (I just left the rust removal thread with a grocery list so to speak).

Don: I know maybe a lot of members saw your restored compressor in your Party Garage thread, but I have to say not one mentioned it here and that is one heckuva way to show off a vintage too with that amazing compressor in the back.

WOW!

I found this group of Blackhawk 1/4" tools yesterday at an estate sale.

According to AA, they belong to the 1930-1936 Blackhawk No. 11-ND Quick Disconnect Socket Set (here) and besides the case, I'm missing only three of the set's sockets.

If anyone has sockets 1512, 1511, 1508 and/or especially, the case, I'm ready to talk!

Don: as much as you seem to love BLACKHAWK you should have a wall for them or maybe a room. I've got an old Richfield charger i'd like to spiff up so if you have any advice on how i'd do that please post it on my DIY thread. thanks

Z28: wow nice set. I can't say i've ever seen a RELEASE KEY and always wondered what the hold in the side of the sockets was for. I guess it's use is in it's name, but never seen or used one.

Thank you. The release key was a plus in this set and I havent seen another one in the wild. It looks like it haven't been used and I think it is going to stay that way. It looks so fragile.

The release key is one of the hardest things to find. I spent years looking for one and I happened upon one recently. You can use it without fear. It's much stronger than it looks.

As for the set itself, that's how you buy things. I don't know how you could improve that set it's so nice.
