For those who might be interested Ted's tool shack in Portland had, as if Saturday, what appears to be some Porto Power 10 ton accessories, a couple of rubber ball heads, a base plate, and an extension tube. I only have a four ton so they were useless to me.

Neat to look at but well past the valuable years. This is several acquisitions later, likely the early National Hand Tools era. That dates them to the 1980s. Most Blackhawk collectors see the cutoff period as 1955, when New Britain became the first of a hand full of owners. Aside from the novelty of having the majority of the tools, I don't see any real value here.

Of course that's my assessment. Others may have different thoughts.
Thank you sir. That helps a lot. So probably the value would be the used tool value? Maybe a little more due to the board.

I went over board again and picked up this #32 mechanic socket set. It has an extra piece that doesn't go with the set BUT does go into my Blackhawk cabinet and I was short this piece so I payed too much for it but have it and the extra piece so I'm a happy camper

Any idea what the decal in the tool box looks like?
I had a reproduction decal made for a No. 32-CD set I tricked out several years ago, Don. Linked here. There are other similar sets on this thread, as well. All the Quick Disconnect era decals were the same except for the set number. Yours is a No. 32-C. The "C" is for the attache style case. The "D" in the "CD" suffix on mine was for the "D" in double hex sockets. Yours are hex, so just 32-C.

Yes there are.
Any idea what the decal in the tool box looks like? I think the box was black on the inside once. The outside looks to have been painted silver Does that make any scents?

Lugz beat me to the punch but here is the cleanest 1930ish decal I have. This set appears in the same 1930 catalog as your 32CD set. This will give you the right fonts and colors. Lugz has the proper size decal.

Thank you guys
I think that I can get a decal made from these pic's. I see that I'm short on some of the tools that belong to this set.
OTG, is that a 610 speed wrench in your box?
Can one of you guys tell me what the name of this T11 tool is? I need to find 2 of them for my collections

Flathead valves used to either have a slot in the head, to look like the head of a screw, or two shallow holes. A lapping tool would be used to be inserted into the valve and rotated to get the valve and seat to conform. There would be several iterations of the tool to accommodate different manufacturers of valves. As valves became part of the combustion chamber, the suction cup style became more popular.

Occasionally I say that to persons younger than myself when they see my Britool valve tool, and they look at me with a blank expression... But it doesn't seem like so long ago that my uncle was standing in a cloud of smoke saying to me "Boy, on a farm vehicle you need to lap in the valves every 30,000 miles at least"..

My experience reaches back to a1929 Buick, but that is an overhead valve engine. Repair books at the time mention engine overhaul at 20,000-30,000 miles.

Here is an interesting chain of events.
Last night I went on the hunt for a T11 valve grinding socket on the internet. As I was searching other states for it I ran across this Blackhawk jack (SJ 18)
2022-06-28 22.58.31.jpg
The jack is in Utah and it was 11 PM there. I sent a text to my daughter who lives about 20 minutes away from this jack and asked her to call me if she was still up. About 2 minutes later the phone rings and I tell her what I have found.
She promised me that she would track it down for me in the morning.
I get a call this afternoon from her telling me that the jack is bought and that she has it being delivered to me tomorrow.
As it turns out Her husband was having a friend from So Cal visiting him and was spending the night with them then tonight he was headed to vegas then to So Cal on Thursday and would love to see my garage and would use the floor jack as a calling card to get into my party garage.

This will be the jack to finish off the totem pole jack display

Oldtuleguy, if I had this box, it would be used only in situation where it would have minimal chance of getting dinged or scratched! This is a great toolbox! I wish they still made them! probably around 80-90 years old and still works great!!!

It's a tank. I'll probably restore it at some point, but it came to no harm at work and is still earning its keep!

I have mine at the back door of the shop and turn it on around 10 AM and it keeps the air moving all through it knocking the temp down about 15 degrees I love it.
