HahaI love seeing old timers like that still earning their keep.
Now, I will trade you a Tool Mobil, straight across!, for that.

Go buy a lottery ticket. You're on a roll. lolI picked up the jack today and put in the shop to look it over.
It is very clean like it has been well cared for. The old owner said he drained the oil out of it so it wouldn't leak and that gave me the idea that the jack doesn't work.
So I took off the cover only to find this
A new gasket and the seal kit along with the assembly guide in the bag
I'm all ready to go on this project Lol.
It's not mismarked. It's a 7/16th drive short socket. If a half inch ratchet fits it, the socket is either worn to hell or someone modified it to fit a 1/2 inch drive anvil.Mystery socket...
I have loved Blackhawk tools since I received my Grandpa's 49997. I've been adding sockets to complete a set of Lock-on 1/2 sockets. I have a 1/2 drive 3/4" socket that is a stubby. It's also marked 35124 as if it's a 7/16 drive. If it's miss-marked why is it so short?
I couldn't agree more DreamerThat's a keeper for sure.
Late 20s.could someone give me the approximate age. model 48X drive 3/4 1-1/2 opening.. all I have seen have a larger model number.

Did you just acquire this? Super cool and one of my unicorns!
it's been in storage since the Reagan administration. Before that it was on a shelf in my Dad's shop.Did you just acquire this? Super cool and one of my unicorns!
That's how I always saw my Dad's. Any shelf lower and us kids would have gotten to it.
My Father got me a 30 piece socket set with the ratchet in the pic. I love using itI found this little 34945A ratchet and it is a pretty good match for the 34986 hinge handle I had. The hinge handle maker was a better knurler though. I think this is the first double pawl ratchet I've found. I like that it's possible to turn the direction 'knob' without needing to hold onto the socket. I also like the grippy ring on top.
I opened it up and re-greased it and it's a smooth clicker. I usually prefer using older tools, but I'll bet I wind up reaching for this one.

I black japanned all my pieces, to stay true to the original Quick Disconnect era factory finish, but that scheme turned out fantastic, Don. Everything really pops against the gold and the liner.I've been working on that 32C tool set.
The condition is exceptional.it's been in storage since the Reagan administration. Before that it was on a shelf in my Dad's shop.
Note that the Porto-Power so-called "torpedo" box and the Nuggets so-called "bomb" box were actually two different takes on the same theme, Smoke. The torpedo box is much bigger than the bomb box, has a different shape, four wheels instead of two, and a different compartment configuration inside. Or do you have a late 40's through 1950 Porto-Power set in need of a home I don't know about? If so, sorry for the unnecessary qualification.Super cool and one of my unicorns!

EDIT: Having said that, if I was fortunate enough to find a "torpedo" box in the wild, I would not hesitate to grab it and put a Nuggets set inside it. It's definitely in the family - and when they're that rare, a close cousin will do!![]()
Narrow misses are the story of my life. I had three of them this past week alone.I narrowly missed a 10$ bomb box recently. Guy thought it was home made!
40$ good deal
