Just ordered RaceDeck flooring. Will post before and after pics. Much inspiration here on Garage Journal.

/\ Welcome! Obviously off to a great start ;) Looking forward to seeing the progress. Don't forget to document as much of the progress as possible. I know I'm not the only one who enjoys following the "journey".

dubber - my space is 23' x 19.5' with a 9.5' x 6' bump in the back. Yes, it's very useful.

MichiganMat - LOL. Do you have a thread?

Picked up 4 gallons of tinted primer and 4 gallons of topcoat today. It will be a busy week.

Picked up two more LED Shop lights to swap out the lame CFL's. Also prepping walls for paint.
That's my Level 2 Charger on the wall.

Lots of work ahead of you but after lighting, paint and the RaceDeck, it will officially be a completely different garage. Enjoy the process!

Did you install the charger yourself? If not, what were the costs associated with having it done?

I did not install myself. My local utility had a promotion 2 years ago to include the charger and installation if I signed up for a dedicated circuit with a separate (reduced) rate from my house. No brainer. Cost was about $100 out of pocket and electricity is 3.5 cents per kWH at night plus surcharges...

Holy ****. Yeah, I'd hit that hard. I'd probably buy two Volts at that price.

is there a way to have a level 2 charger feed two "plugs" i.e. one inside and one outside the garage?

I will park the volt in the garage in the winter, but the porsche takes the garage in the summer so Volt outside.. and I will need to plug it both places.

Not sure - you may need to ask an electrician.

Priming and Painting

About 1/3 done with priming the garage. Painting one wall so I could hang stuff back up and get it out of the way.

Need to do some homework on how to deal with the step in a tasteful way.

Added one of my LED shop lights for better lighting whilst I paint.

Glad to see you are going to give it a coat of paint. I was worried there for a bit. I am interested to see what you make of your space. Best of luck.

Finished with 80% of the painting. A lot of work and I'm sore and tired of moving my stuff around. It's not going back in ugly shelves. Looking at some nice husky cabinets.

Started to put down flooring yesterday after painting was complete in the bays. Tip of the hat to Rick's Audi Double for the great floor design.

Hi all - I'll get some more pics posted soon. Painting 100% complete. Floor is done except for trip pieces. Lighting is up. Picked up a Husky tool bench over the weekend.

Now I would like to get some nice storage cabinets to tuck all the stuff away from view. I like the Husky ones - I sure wish they would go on sale at HD or get some coupon or something. Any ideas?

Nice flooring! I also used to have that style in my Single garage. As for the Husky cabinets, I've really enjoyed mine over the last few years. They regularly go on sale so just keep your eye open for them.

It is definitely coming together. Dubber is right, the HD often marks the Husky stuff down. I went the way of Craftsman which also has regular mark downs. Just have to be patient and pounce when they go on sale.

Workbench and tire rack

Husky workbench and tire rack are up. All that "stuff" needs to go in cabinets. C'mon HD, it's time for a sale...

There are plenty of details still to address. I'll get a full view shot soon.

I spy one cabinet ready to get assembled :)

Good eye. Yes, I have one small wall cabinet to assemble. I'm still trying to figure out where to put it. I don't like the location of the tire rack so I'll probably move it.

Husky Wall Cabinet

Assembled the Husky wall cabinet. I'm rather liking the $199 Husky rolling tool cabinet.

I really like that last pic. I was very close to getting that same rolling cabinet while working on my current garage.

Yes. You do not have to hardwire a level 2 charger. Order it with a plug (or install your own), and put an appropriate receptacle in the garage, and one outside (with the correct weather proof box).

We're loving our new Volt. It's getting almost 45 miles of charge now that the weather is warming up!
