I believe it slips in. I had to fabricate a rod for mine, but as far as I can tell, no threads on that end.

If you are interested in a pair of period correct eye shields, hit me up. I have a set I was going to put up for sale and would let go at a discount here.
Appreciate the info. I was thinking no threads, similar to my delta triple duty grinder, but knowing for sure will be helpful for getting the rod removed.

I think I’ll stick with the shields that came with mine. I think they are period correct (ish), but I’m not sure they are original to this grinder. I can’t find references in the old catalogs for the lighted shields coming with the BR50. But the grinder base and the wheel guards are clearly designed to accept them.

This is a long shot but, anybody have or know of a motor pulley for a 20" 1100 mid 1940's vintage. The largest step is about 8.5" in diameter and the shaft bore is 5/8.

Starting to make some slow progress on the WT grinder restoration.

Anyone have any info on the differences between these two wheel guards?? I think they might be from slightly different eras??

You can see that they are definitely different parts. The main difference is between the wheel guard outer covers. The area by the port is shaped differently, with the one on the right being flatter.

They are also different part numbers, or at least they are stamped with different numbers. One says EG 302 2 and the other says EG 302 X.

I would also say that one design is more precise in how the guard and cover fit together, while the other has a noticeably poorer fit (the version that is flatter near the port).

So, a little more context. Not sure if this helps or not, but the cover with the flatter design has a lighted shield that appears to be newer. You can see (if you look really close!) that it says "Patented" on it:

And the other shield says "Patent Applied For" so must be earlier production. And it's the earlier production shield that was attached to the nicer wheel cover that is better profiled and fits more precisely to the wheel guard.

Are they from the same machine? My first thought is that one if for a 1/2hp, the other for a 1/3hp.
They were on the same machine, but I'm guessing one of the two must not be original. So far, I can't dig up any pictures online that match the larger square port. I'll keep searching and see what I can find.
