Quit whining about the price of fuel. You need to go ride with Rian in his Blazer and fill it up a few times.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Haha you have a very good point there Andy, we do have it pretty easy here for the most part. I just have that frugal tendency I can't seem to shake.

Either way I'll get plenty of smiles per gallon on this trip.

Well an interesting thing happened Monday morning, I went to bed and the car fairy came to visit. I wake up to find another car showed up at the house while I was dreaming:
attachment.php

attachment.php

I think I mentioned before but I'll recap, the new one, in the front, needs at minimum a rod bearing if not an entire new bottom end, time will tell though. I'll take a couple of the nicer parts and switch them over to my car and send the other one down the road to a new owner and hopefully make a couple of dollars on it. Best part is it was $free so I don't have much into it thus far.

multiplying like rabbits.Hey when you get ready to visit Andy, maybe I can meet up with you and tag along. I have some stuff for him, and he was going to make a gear for my metal rolling machine. If that's alright with you?
Have fun , and a safe trip.

Sounds good to me, it'll be a few weeks at least but I think we can make it work out.

I'm all packed up and ready to hit the road after my last meeting today is over at 3:30. :3gears: Sadly it looks like storms on and off the first 5 days of my trip so that will be fun. As you all know everyone has a hot rod in the rain. :3gears:

Hope all is well on the Power Tour, we have a participate staying in the AirBnb next door waiting until Tuesday for it to get to close. He's from St Louis, driving a 40' COE Ford with a roll back.

After last years debacle I shot all my spies and went out in person in search of the Warthog. Ok, I actually called him and asked where he was. Oddly enough the first time I called he was abou 50 feet behind me just getting to the track.

Then he had the audacity to sneak up behind me while I was drooling over engines. Cool guy. He gave Heath and my wife hats. And the Warthog is awesome.

Was that the red one with the red sedan on the back? If so that was a beautiful truck I saw a dozen times but was never close enough to get a photo.

War Wagon,
It was nice to meet you and you were correct, you do look just like your profile picture. :) Thanks for making it out and it is always nice to meet someone in person from the forum. Sadly I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off on the first day so I didn't get to chat too much.

It looks like you may have tried to post some photos but they aren't showing up for some reason. I'll attach them here in case others can't see them.

*edit* After posting them they are now showing up in your post, oh well he sure looks like he was enjoying it and has a cool hat to boot.

By the looks of it I'm glad I took the keys with me. :3gears:

All,
As you can see I made it back but and way behind so it may be a few days before I catch up and can do a full recap. Either that or someone hacked my account and has taken over my identity and most of you will never know. ;)

Oddly enough they are not showing on my post for me now. Who knows.

I have enjoyed following your tour, although I have spent my week putting an engine in my Suburban. It lost oil pressure and locked up. Fortunately I had a parts truck.

All,
I recently heard the news of 1/2 Cup and don't ever know what to say at times like this. Even though we never met he has left a lasting impression on me. I'll leave a little reminder to stop and smell the roses from time to time as well as try to get a little quality shed time. You will be missed 1/2

I saw you were digging into it but didn't know what the reasoning was. Looks like a big project for just a little pressure. Oil pressure is like air pressure, you don't really appreciate it until it is gone. :bounce:

Seriously, JB, you need to grow up before we let you drive a car like that.

I know I know but the keys were in it and fake ID's are so easy to come by these days. :lol_hitti

Well I don't really have time to give a full writeup on the Power Tour sadly so I'll give some highlights and then share a bunch of photos from the trip. Alex and I both made the entire trip, a total of 3,6XX miles when we returned. We both got better mileage than we expected, we were around 17.4 MPG average which amazed me for my car as I'd rarely ever gotten 17 more or less averaged that.

We each had our share of issues to work on during the tour, my worst was rain, next year I'll have a windsheild wiper as rainx wasn't enough. I fixed my drainage issues after day 1 by drilling more and larger holes in the floorboards. He fought some electrical issue that would kill his car at times or make it not start, we believe we have it figured out but were not able to get to it to fix it on the tour. So here are the photos:

Running out of time but the gentlemen in this first photo is a friend of mine from the Detroit area, we worked together at GM as interns 12 years ago now and happen to be on the same trip. He and his father brought their '64 Corvette seen in the background. It is a small block with a 4 speed and was a blast to drive:

On Saturday we drive 867 miles and 350 miles from the "finish" line this happened, we found replacements 20 miles down the road and kept on moving. A total of 18.5 hours of driving that day including all of the stops.

I'm glad someone mentioned it, I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. Makes me feel better now.

JB, check out lsclassic.com

Very cool stuff, I saw it in Hot Rod or Car Craft a couple of months ago.

I think it would be super cool to have on my '49 GMC.

JB, I would have thought that you would have worn the rubber off of a rear tire instead of the front.
Looks like a great trip.

Overall sounds like a good trip. Thanks for sharing. Interesting you don’t have a wiper. Guess it’s time to hunt up a model T, Jeep or dune buggy wiper

Outlaw,
Thanks for that site, the intake would look great on the '49, I say do it!

cool JB, thanks for sharing the pics

Great pictures.

Cool Pictures!

Great pictures!

Excellent work.

Glad to share and glad ya'll enjoyed them

Looks like a good time for the most part. Do have any top or side curtains for your car?
Thanks for sharing the pics.

No top whatsoever, the only rain protection I have is my hat, if I go over 40 all the rain hits it and I stay somewhat dry unless it is a massive downpour.

I replaced the rears before the trip Dwight, I should have done all four. It all worked out in the end though.

Shorty, I have found a good option that clamps on the windshield frame and is easily removed. I can't find exactly what I want, but what I have found it close enough and is relativity cheap.

It is a great time, some of the routes this year were the most fun I've ever had on the road. Too bad it rained as the weather was beautiful most of the rest of the time.

Congrats on making the whole trip. Looks like a lot of fun miles. On my bucket list (oldest brother's too).

It was great Dyno, you and your brother need to make it out to one at some point.

I was able to get a few things done this weekend other than mowing the grass which was a chore in itself with all the rain we have had. With so many vehicles I have to move them every time I mow. Which is a stipulation on being able to keep so many. Well Ol' Red has had intermittent starting issues since I picked it up in March. I decided to pull the starter to clean all of the contacts as when I checked it then they weren't great. Sadly I broke the starter solenoid when pulling one of the nuts off. Ordered a new one and all is well now:
attachment.php

Saturday morning started really early for me ~1:15, I checked my messages to find out I had a new niece and nephew. They were born the day before after I passed out and I knew I wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep so I decided to pay them a visit. All are doing well and should get to go home today.

I drove the Lil' Blue Truck for the AC, cruise, and comfort. Well the AC stopped working 30 miles into the trip and I thought I heard an exhaust leak...again. 4 miles from home it sounded like I lost half of the pipe and the truck stared running REALLY bad. Turns out the same collector bolts that came loose before came loose again. :headscrat I "fixed" the issue by installed double nuts and hope it doesn't repeat.

Lastly I pulled the newest yellow car into the shop to start repairing the knock. More to come on that when I get photos.

JB, I outsmart myself way too often. When I put a set of headers on the '87 Corvette it was almost impossible to re-install the stock starter so I bought a rebuilt starter for a later model Corvette. It's small and light enough to get it in with the headers bolted tight.
attachment.php

It was also easy to make all the connections. One was so easy it was like the bolt wasn't attached to anything.
attachment.php

Good thing the starter was easy to get out. A little disassembly, a little soldering and some Loctite and it was as good as the rebuilt thing I ordered.
