Well...that's kind of like those little single seat speed boats with 40+ hp outboards...

Good work on the stump JB! Maybe next time try the new rifle and some tannerite to "lift" it out of the ground :rocker:

Outlaw,
You are not the first person to reccomend that method of removal to me, it was only a few feet from where the horses are and the new lean to with vehicle in it. Should be a very good time and story though if it worked...or didn't work. :rocketwho

I guess I missed what your doing with the SS. I see that you have it disassembled but why?

Mr. Pink,
It came in with low oil pressure warning light, I need to replace the oil pump and a few odds and ends while it is out for the owner. One of those friend of a friend deals and she isn't in a hurry to get it back so I don't feel pressured to get it done now.

What is that wiring harness showng in the second pic and not in the first?

John,
I really couldn't tell you, it was there in the first, but put away and tucked up where it should stay. Because I'm dropping the engine I'm disconnecting everything in order to allow clearance.

What he said ^^^^

See above, or another answer is I just like taking things apart to put them back together.

You going to do the timing while you have it apart? You'll be in that area anyway. Hell i'd add a cam too but that's me lmao, more HP is always a good thing!

I will change the timing chain as well, along with plugs and wires as these are really tight on the back side of the engine. As for the cam, I'm not going to touch it, not my car, if it were I would.
That Jet Kayak is so you JB.

Love it.
It would be fun, but a good way to get hurt as well.
Yep digging out a huge pond and getting a powered kayak seems right.

nice work on stump and thanks for tips on my old 2005 Honda CR-V.
I have a small one already and there are a few big lakes out here to use it on if needed, but no chance I'll build it. Glad I could help on the CR-V discussion.

Did you think to install a test gage for the oil pressure, could be a fault oil pressure sender?
I did not use a mechanical gauge, of the fittings I had nothing would fit the treads right. The car doesn't have an oil pressure gauge, just the sensor feeding the computer. At idle the low oil pressure warning goes off, with just over idle RPM the pressure picks up and the light goes off. I'm going to replace seals and all as I go as well.
I am wondering how you steer the jetyak. Or do you just go straight into a grave?
I suspect strait to the scene of the crash, probably beat the paramedics there by 20 minutes though. :lol_hitti

Work had me doing 12 hour days last week and I didn't have time to update but I'm back to a normal schedule now just behind at work from working too much. :headscrat Anyway, the weekend before last was a bit of a sad day, I said goodbye to the Festiva. I was contacted by someone interested in buying it and we settled on a trade we both were interested in and off it went.

In other news I've started working to clean up the old concrete pile behind the shop again, this time getting rid of some more of the trees. In doing so I blew the tire off of the bead on the tractor. No jack was needed thanks to the bucket:
IMG_2661.JPG

Tire off bead reset and working great and only took 10 minutes start to finish. I'll let these dry out a bit before burning them and taking some more of these trees out.

I was invited to attend a car show at an airport a couple hours from home this weekend, sadly I woke up to some very heavy rain. The cobra stayed in the garage and I took the Fauxrari instead. I didn't take enough photos but did snag this one of an old Japanese plane:
IMG_2683.JPG

There were about a half dozen biplanes as well, it was great seeing these fly around and some were doing some cool tricks as well.

Lastly I've started to extend the lean to by another two bays, day one got the 6 poles set with the help Alex:
IMG_2670.JPG

Day two I put the framework up by myself, and day three Alex came back out and we put the purlins (?) on and got all of the steel hung on the walls. It was too windy to work on the roof so we stopped here:
IMG_2684.JPG

It will now be 20'x72' (6mx21.8m) with 6 bays. I'll be glad to get this little project behind me, it has been a long time coming but nearly ready to mark this one as done.

I forgot to mention I received word that my engine was nearing completion last week, they were doing the final hone on the cylinders in prep for final assembly. They asked me to choose a cam and sent me some good options which included dyno charts:
Cam Dyno Charts.PNG

I chose the came in red, here are the specs provided:
Cam Specs.PNG

It should be a fun little runner. :3gears:

Looks like you made a good choice on the cam JB, according to the graph, it appears to have the best torque curve.

Great progress on the lean-to, stop reminding me I need more storage!

I thought the same thing, I went back and forth on the cam, the other 2H option would have a little more upper end power but it is really hard to tell as the stock intake is the limiting factor right now. I don't even know if I'll be able to use the factory intake so it may be a moot point but I'll have to get it before I know for sure.

That's why I'm adding on too, with Lever Action, Grandpa's red truck, tractor, implements, and hay storage as well as one bay for the horses I needed more than the 4 bays before, 6 should be about right. Maybe I'll get power and water ran out there eventually but I have a lot of work to do still before that.
Wait I missed something again lmao your Godzilla swapping the cobra? That is aswesome!
Yes sir, I ordered the engine back in April and it was still under development for the kit they offered. I was told it would be about 4 months before delivery and it will be about that plus a little bit. I'm looking forward to feeling what 420 ft-lbs of torque is like at 2,000 rpm. That is about 100 more than the current engine makes at peak.

There will be a ton of work to get it installed and everything working, much more than what it took to swap the S10. The trans came in a couple weeks ago but I haven't shared that yet, so don't tell anyone.

Do you still have the 4010? or did that go down the road as well?
XJ, I still have it for now, I need to get it running right again, I'm struggling to figure out what is going on with it, but have a friend of a friend tinkering on it a little at a time while he is helping split another 4010 in my shop. It will probably go down the road though, it is nice when it works, but is a struggle to get it working right.
Excellent progress mate.

I love all the space you have and how you are able to build what you need.
It is nice to just go out and start building, no calls, no inspections or anything, just start slamming parts together. I'm a very lucky guy.
Might want to put in an order for a pair of REALLY sticky tires! NICE!!

I'm thinking about Nitto NT555's in 315/40-18, but will see, doubtful it'll be enough to keep it glued down but will be a blast to try.
420ftlbs at 2k rpm will be fun for sure.
I bet so, the only thing I've had close to that much power is my LBZ Duramax, but this weights about 1/3 what that did. :)

Nice engine to swap in. Good knowing you. Send us a postcard from Mars. LOL.
I've heard the new Fast and Furious has a Space Fiero, maybe this can be a Space Snake.
What about their drag radial variant the NT555RII? They make it in the same size.
I'm still debating a lot, the 555G2 could potentially last 3-5 years of 3,000 miles a year minus any burnouts with a treadwear of 200 whereas I don't know that the NT555II would last as long with a treadwear or 100 and also costing $120 more per tire. It would provide better traction, but of course I could step up to the NT05R that is just barely a street legal drag radial for only $14 more than the NT555II.

I'm sure I'll get plenty of opportunities to swap tires on the rear of the car though so I may try all 3. :3gears:

I'll be running the NT555RII in a 275/60/15 on my truck. I may end up with more power and torque than your motor but at a different range in my power band.

Sometimes you can't win for loosing, I decided to mow the yard yesterday after work for the first time in nearly 3 weeks. It has been so dry that it really didn't need it but I needed to give it a go anyway. I noticed on the last couple minutes it wasn't mowing great on the middle blade. On the next to last pass that blade was digging way down in the grass (I noticed on the last pass), it was bad enough I hit the kill button right as I heard some bad noises. This was what I found:
IMG_2689.JPG

It looks like I'll be getting a new spindle.

Mower deck repairs aren't always fun...if memory serves, you've got a Hustler, which is built north of you in Hesston, KS. Hopefully that means good parts availability to your dealer!

We've been really dry here too. I've been putting off mowing this week, due to the heat wave hitting us again. The edges and a few other parts of the yard are getting wooly, I suppose I'll break down and get after it.

Good memory @OutlawDrifter, it is a Hustler, I just called the dealer in town and they have one in stock. Sadly the Impala is on the lift so I have to do this laying on the ground. :( But for $65 I'll be in business again. Hopefully it won't be too hard to get it off but time will tell, I may need more arms and hands to do it without dropping the deck.

I could probably just pick up the entire mower if I strapped it down right.

Well it appears there is a huge backorder of the spindles, the factory is 3,200 negative right now and none of the other suppliers my local shop uses have any in stock. I opted to go the Amazon route but would rather support my local business and get it done now rather than having to wait, oh well. I should be back in business sometime next week.

Back from another hot sweaty and busy weekend, I hit it hard Saturday morning by putting the last of the tin on the room of the lean to and cleaned everything up:
IMG_2699.JPG

Now I just need to fill it up, that shouldn't take long at all. It sounds like I'll be headed out to get some round bales for the girls horses this weekend, using the loader and the front bale spike I should be able to fit 9 bales in each bay if I'm carful stacking them, which honestly will be more than they can eat in a year so I shouldn't have any worries there. I spent the rest of Saturday tinkering around and burning a few brush piles around the house.

Sunday I set 6 posts to install 2 gates, one man gate into the horse pasture and a 12' gate going from the horse pasture to the cattle pasture. I didn't get any photos though so those will have to wait. Then it was time to take a little spin on the mini bike, it hasn't been run in a while and needed some exercise:
IMG_2702.JPG

Then to another creek crossing:
IMG_2703.JPG

That is all for now, back to work.

Good thing you shut it down. That could have been UGLY.
No joke, it was such a terrible sound to hear. I received the new spindle last night and test fit it, luckily it fit and everything will bolt back on. I'm trying to figure out what happened to the stock one though. The bearings spun free enough once I pulled it out, one of the 4 bolts holding it to the deck had broken off as well as the broken housing. I wonder what broke first the bolt or the housing but suspect it was the bolt but wonder why...

Is it possible you had a vibration in the shaft/hub/blade assembly and the bolt or housing fatigued?
@86turbodsl I could have but the blades are relatively new with maybe 40 hours on them, hub and shaft both spun with little effort once I got them off, it was locked up on first attempt due to being wedged in after breaking.

I think power to weight will more or less require a drag radial to have any hope of traction. Else spin and slow. NT555II will spin and wear quick, need R model.
My drag radial of choice is Mickey Thompson ET street SS. They hook ~550tq/hp in my application (04 cobra) even with cords showing, which is about 3-4k miles for me. Won't hold the nitrous on the street though.

I hadn't thought about the MT ET street ss's because they didn't have the 315/40-18 I was looking for, only 305/40-18 or up to 345's which I don't think will have a chance of fitting. I have a couple of 305/30-19's I planned to use to test fit in the wheel well to see what clearances I have and can go from there.

I get very nervous picking out wheels and tires because if they don't fit I'll just be out of luck. I'll spend lots of time with a tape measure, I'd like to find a shop with a wheel fit tool to help get a better idea as well. I do have a Percy's Wheelrite I'll try as well to help but I'll still be nervous.
